Darwin you fool.

I just spent a nice weekend with Link. Though I was a little sick-ish, it was nice to have someone in my bed (just the extra heat did WONDERS). This week seems to be a little busy. I want to apply at a few galleries, finish some drawings for contracts and of course, do my job right. This weekend i'm helping my friend Tama to move to her new appartment. I find that no matter how much I hated moving myself, I seem to like moving other people.

Go figure.

I started doing sketches for paintings. I wanted to do a few paintings for people over xmas but I didn't have time yet. I really like this sketch. It's a gigaslave again. I'm obsessed with drawing the gigaslave for some reason XD



Speaking of slayers - I plan on buying the boxsets over amazon now that they are cheap. I have an old version of Next Tama gave to me, but I think I will buy the new version alongside with buying a copy of Slayers and Slayers try, that way my boxsets all match. I also want to buy Slayers Knight of Aqualord and a few other comics. I'll let you guys know if the french copy is available yet.

Whew. This was a long break. I decided to do as less drawing or art-related things as possible during my xmas break. I needed a break from drawing. As much as I love it, all my contracts and stuff are killing my free time and turning drawing into a chore. I drew a little of course (deadlines oblige) and I tried out my new graphic tablet, with Link giving me a few pointers on stuff. Turns out we actually own the same model of graphic tablet. For years now, I've been using this tiny wacom my friend Fauve lended me. Having a much bigger, badder tablet feels a little weird, since i'm used to the smaller one, but it's still pretty sweet.

I bought a pile of comics to read, unfortunatly, the pile did not include Slayers Knight of Aqualord since the french comic is not currently available in Canada (there is 3 months in between it's publication and it's importation to Canada. It was published on the 27th of november, meaning i've still got a while to wait! NNNNOOOO!)

Today I finished (WITH MY TABLET!!!!) my drawing the the Slayers X-mas exchange on theslayers 
I'm posting it here because it's my first official art with my tablet and because whomever will see it on theslayers will know it's my drawing anyways (the style kinda says it all)



Oh, and 2009 resolutions? Hummm....

- Make a comic dammit.
- A few more gallery things. I'd love to do at least 3 more before the year is out.
- Avoid becoming a hermit drawing on cave walls.
- Read at least a novel per month
- LEARN TO USE PHOTOSHOP WELL
- Learn more about Dreamweaver
- Volunteer at a charity again. I loved doing that.
- ..................Keep the appartment cleaner (YES, i'm a giant slob!)
- Be more positive
- Match clothing.
- donate to the breast cancer society.

No, i,m not dead ^_^ It's just been an odd couple of days. For those who wonder, I did get my internship in Toronto. I start on the 6th of may ^_^ woo.
Now i'm back in Ottawa, but tomorrow i'm going to Quebec to visit my grandmother and extended family. Link is here with me right now, since he came to Ottawa to visit his family. ^_^

I know I mentionned I would do a xmas comic, but then I din't, by lack of time and ideas. Although, now that i'm a bit more in the spirit, and watched like 3 scrooge movies, included the muppet's, I started getting ideas. So i'm wondering: do you guys still want me to do a xmas series, even if it will probably only appear online after new years?

Again, happy holidays, and please forgive my long silence XD I promise to speak up more after teh holidays.

As for ten couples I dislike:
1) Hermione / anyone but Ron (ESPECIALLY Snape or Lupin. Gah. Why?)
2)Hitomi / Allen (from escaflowne...hate it beyond words. Poor Van.)
3)Xelloss / Sylphiel (People followed the hair = couple pattern)
4)Sesshoumaru / kid Rin (hum. Especially those who write lemon fics. Scarring I say.)
5)Edward / Alphonse (Oh great. incestous stuff now. I don't mind it so much when it's platonic love, but when the doujin artist or fanfic writter shoves sex in there...it's just odd.)
6) Edward / Roy mustang (Okay...if anything the whole miniskirt deal proves that he is not gay. And hate does not equal OMG OTP YES WEE!)
7) Anybody / invented mary sue that is mysteriously similar to the writter or artist (...)
8)Angel / Buffy (Yes it used to be canon. Now it's not. Get over it people. Let it go.)
9) Ryoga / Akane (Never saw it happen. Found it disturbing)
10) Nana / Takumi (From Nana....The guy is the worse asswipe ever. She could leave him and NOBODY would blame her. He cheats, lies and god knows what else. And she just keeps strolling along because she doesn't want to be alone, is dependant and feels guilty. Argh. This is more frustrating to read when you are aware that couples like that exist in reality.)

Aside from that, things are going okay. A lot of my teachers told me that I lacked focus and direction. My photo teacher said (while looking at my more recent work) that I was gone in a completly different direction, that I did not really understand. He said I din't get the perpice of my own work and that I needed to go dig up what originally motivated me. Mwer.

Most of my teachers agree that my work lacks direction. My life in general does. I'm so disorganised it' scary. And usually, I never was. Last year alone I was more organised then a governement contract drawer. Something this year made my loose the balance I used to have. It's true that this year, I have a lot of stuff I don't have around anymore and new stuff in my life. I guess I never took the time to get used to it. Now I need to back up and regroup.

In other news, xmas is coming and Isa must start her shopping, since i'm probably gonna run to Toronto when school will be out. I have a few devious ideas on what to get people. ^^

Oh! I learned that the STO (Bus society of Outaouais, aka quebec area where I live) is changing the bus structure in our little town. 
See, the thing with me is that I don't really live in Ottawa. I say I do because then I don't have to explain to people in which area I do live. But I actually live in the Quebec province, right next to another city called Hull, that is next to a bridge that leads to Ottawa. I'm about 20 to 30 minutes from the center of ottawa if I drive a car...with no traffic jams of course. In a bus, it takes about 45 minutes to get to the center though, and then If I need to go elsewhere or whatnot, add walking time or extra bus time on another motorised vehicule. 

We usually have two buses that start in Aylmer (my home) and go directly to Ottawa going thru Hull. We also have a bus that goes to another city, and another bus that goes to another spot in Hull. On rush hour, we have two other buses headed for Ottawa. That's it. There's a bus every 45 minutes.

They are planning to get rid of all the buses that go to Ottawa and Hull and have several buses circulate in Aylmer. Then those buses will go to Rivermead, a center point between Aylmer and Hull and everybody needs to get off and go on new buses that will either take them to Ottawa or Hull. However, the numbers are supposed to alter, so sometimes, the said bus will not go at the same spot, and you need to ask the driver. Another thing: sometimes the number on the bus will change and go directly to Ottawa after it reaches rivermead. But you have to ask the driver about that too.

God, what the hell?

Their "new and improved" system looks damn complicated to me. Their excuse is that it already works like that in Hull and Gatineau (other city close by)...But Aylmer does not need internal circulation. We have no industries or large businesses. We are a sleeping town. Most people living in aylmer work in Ottawa. We need to get OUT not hover inside. And aylmer is much smaller then Hull. 

This system is going to make things suck.

A strange coincidence came up today. A friend asked me to draw an inuyasha fanart. After I finished drawing the said fanart, I discovered that a very talented inuyasha fanart artist I adore has an LJ and is actually friends with savvyliterate...Woah! Was I surprise or what? 

The fanart in question is a Adult shippou/human kirara fanart. It's a bit of a strange fandom, I have to say but who am I to judge? Not to mention it gives me a great liberty in the character designing of the two fanshipped characters.

Things have changed a bit around here. I switched the colors again. My hair is pinkish once more, so I decided to go for a goth pink look ^^ I'm also trying to change my mood theme for a Work creature mood theme. It's kinda long, but i'll get it down eventually.

I finished another short story for the doujin. only 4 left! Mwahahaha! Soon it shall be done!
The story I just finished is the only serious and pencil-drawn one of the book. It's very dramatic and I LOVE IT SO!!!

I finished coloring the Lina/Gourry couple picture. I've called "Light my Way"

Sorry for the text right smack in the middle, but since I wish to sell this, I need to protect it a bit more. I think it's funny that this picture is the first of a lot of things. It's the first picture I sell through my Lj, it's the first picture I post here on which I have spent more then 3 hours (aaah, yes, the quality of Lj works...) and also it's the first picture I post here that i'm actually protecting.

I'm very proud of it, I love the atmosphere in it a lot and I like how the colors are "incorrect"...There's actually a version of this without all the shadow work... And yet this seemed more powerful to me then the "clear" version where all the colors are correct and the light work took me a zillion hours (the light work is still present on this picture but it's kinda destroyed a bit because of the effects)

I really like Lina's spell hand. It was a bitch to draw, but it turned out well. Gourry is also a bitch to draw. I feel sorry for those who were stuck animating him.

It costs me 1$ to print this, 2$ to laminate it and 2 to 3 $ to send it (need to buy envelops and stamps) so I was thinking of charging between 12 0r 15 dollards for these prints. I'll leave it to you guys to decide what you wish to pay for this picture if it is your desire to aquire it. The format is letter size (8.5 inches by 11) but if you want I can also go legal size (8,5 by 14) or register size (11 by 14) The bigger prints will be a dollars to two dollards more because it's more costy to print and laminate.

If this is a popular thing, I might just draw some more ^^

Oh, if you have slayers loving friends you think might like this, direct them to my Lj. Depending on the response I get, I might do a post of the slayers community ,although I think i'll wait until I have more prints to sell before posting there.

Okay, so i'm back.
I've discovered a cruel rule of life : the more shit you leave behind when you take off, the more double that shit you will find at your return.
So since I returned, I did 5 loads of laundry, responded to 20 emails, opened 10 letters, had to do a pile of errants and cleaned all my house.
*sigh*
Home sweet home.

I wonder when I get to go back....

Oh well, on another note Toronto was excellent and I had a great time with Link, who changed appartements and now lives with his brother and roomate in a place that is just a jewel. Great location, clean, well taken care of...the owner is a nice chinese man that is very amusing. His wife is somewhat demanding though (you can tell right away who wears the pants in that relationship!)
I have material to draw a zillion comics. "The Toronto Chronicles" or something. *laughs*

I discovered very close to Link's house a very cool second-hand clothes store where I got a polka dot dress from the 80's. I also discovered the ultimate comic book store that even carried french european comics despite the fact that it was smack in the center of an english town! Why smack me silly!
The Doujin suffered from my trip a bit, but for those interested i'm working on two drawings that i'M going to color and perhaps sell as printouts. The drawings are very nice, i'll probably post the in the next few days.

People are bending over backwards for me since I came home yesterday (and no, you perverts, I don't just mean Link). The bookstore close to my house offered me a job. I was already taking care of their comic collection but they want to hire me for at least 2 hours a week to take care of that collection O_O sweet. My actual job is going okay, I get back to it tomorrow. I get back to university next week.

I'm currently looking for a art place in Toronto to do an intership this summer. If anyone has an idea, please suggest.

Well, i'm off to do my stuff in Toronto and Quebec city.
I have no idea if i'll be able to update (hopefully yes). I know for a fact Link has a scanner. It now all depends on how busy/lazy I am.

I hope this week off will  return me to a state of calm before school starts.

Well, at least i'm not as slow at updating as SOME people (*wink wink nudge nudge Cyberknight*) XD 
I'm finishing up my after-school "Must do everything i've been postponing since...ever " rally. Whew. I really had a lot of crap to go throught! I cleaned my room and found a bunch of my old cool clothes and trinckets so i'm really happy about that. 
I'm still trying to get back in a work groove. It's been a while since I left the bakery and even though I remember everything and am still pretty fast at what I do, I make a lot of really stupid mistakes *sigh* I'm hoping those will go away soon.

Yesterday I had an extreme lucky day! I mean, luck coming out of my ears man! I had that day off so I accompagnied one of my friends on campus because she had an interview for a job in the teacher's librairy and she didn't know where it was. She got the job (YEEAH!) and then we went for bubble tea and invited another friend and her sister over to watch Howl's moving castle (Yeah, I know, again in my case, but hey, it's a good movie XD). It was really a fun day, I enjoyed it greatly. 

Bubble tea is a strange substance though. 

I also met at the video store where we rented Howl a fellow comic artist / fan named Benoit. He seemed interesting. Apparently we were in the same school year at the same school, but i've never seen that guy before. I'm thinking it's because I was in the school's enriched classes (aka where they put the "smarter" students, meaning the pompous ones who just happen to be assholes with better grades. I didn't really like it there, but my parents really insisted at the time). Most people my friends claim to know from high school i've never met because of that class separation. Also, one of my friend's brother was one of the school's popular guys so...I wasn't really in any "in" crowd...or any crowd whatsoever really.

Aside from that I just finished part 4 of the Zelgadiss gone haywire series. Enjoy!
