I finished coloring the Lina/Gourry couple picture. I've called "Light my Way"
Here is what the print will look like :

Sorry for the text right smack in the middle, but since I wish to sell this, I need to protect it a bit more. I think it's funny that this picture is the first of a lot of things. It's the first picture I sell through my Lj, it's the first picture I post here on which I have spent more then 3 hours (aaah, yes, the quality of Lj works...) and also it's the first picture I post here that i'm actually protecting.

I'm very proud of it, I love the atmosphere in it a lot and I like how the colors are "incorrect"...There's actually a version of this without all the shadow work... And yet this seemed more powerful to me then the "clear" version where all the colors are correct and the light work took me a zillion hours (the light work is still present on this picture but it's kinda destroyed a bit because of the effects)

I really like Lina's spell hand. It was a bitch to draw, but it turned out well. Gourry is also a bitch to draw. I feel sorry for those who were stuck animating him.

It costs me 1$ to print this, 2$ to laminate it and 2 to 3 $ to send it (need to buy envelops and stamps) so I was thinking of charging between 12 0r 15 dollards for these prints. I'll leave it to you guys to decide what you wish to pay for this picture if it is your desire to aquire it. The format is letter size (8.5 inches by 11) but if you want I can also go legal size (8,5 by 14) or register size (11 by 14) The bigger prints will be a dollars to two dollards more because it's more costy to print and laminate.

If this is a popular thing, I might just draw some more ^^

Oh, if you have slayers loving friends you think might like this, direct them to my Lj. Depending on the response I get, I might do a post of the slayers community ,although I think i'll wait until I have more prints to sell before posting there.

Lol. You should put the singing comic at the very first page of the doujin.

Doujin artists in Japan make money off their work all the time. I don't see how what you're doing is any different.

I love the picture. I want it. Sell it to me. NOW.

That's an excellent suggestion, that little comic resumes well any kind of disclaimer I can do *laughs*
I think copyrigth laws in Japan are a bit more loose then here. Here Doujins are actually (according to the law) rather illegal since it's making money off something that is not yours. But I guess, all and all, they don't really care because they don't really loose any money and it's free advertisement for a series in a way.

If you want the picture, it's yours! *laughs* I just need you to send my an email (at secondlina@hotmail.com) with your address, the size you want and what you are willing to pay for it. It might take a few days before I send it, i'll see if anybody else wants it so that way I can just do one trip to the printing office rather then 50.

Okay, I think you have created the best disclaimer ever. XD

The Lina/Gourry picture looks awesome and I don't blame you for wanting to protect it. I've heard about too many people on deviantart who've ranted about discovering that someone stole their art and then tried to sell it afterward.

Anyway, the lighting and colouring is very cool!

I gotta admit, I found the idea for that comic very funny...
I actually sang something like that once while I was drawing, so I decided to actually make a comic of it.

The song when a bit like this:
Seriously, I have no money, why the hell, would you sue me?
I'm poor, not a penny, so please, do not sue me.
Not a penny, not a penny..
I,m an art student, obviously.
Please don't sue.

*moans* actually, getting my art stolen happened to me. A lot. I'm kinda sick of it.

Sold!

Now *shoving her journalist's glasses on*, really the size to sell it at is the one that will reproduce the best. If you've done it at a canvas size that is larger than the 11x14, then there shouldn't be any problems in taking it down to an 11x14 without losing the resolution. If it's originally made for an 8.5x11 piece of paper, I wouldn't go any bigger because then the printer may pixelate it.

I know way, way too much about photo reproduction, presses and the like. Isn't that sad?

You also may want to offer an option on the laminating, especially if the person purchasing the picture has plans to frame it. If that is the case, definitely print the 8.5x11 print on register size so there's enough to trim if it's a full 8.5x11 bleed. Keep the same price though because the extra money would be needed to make sure the print doesn't get damaged while being sent. You may also want to consider paper quality as well.

*watches as everyone's eyes go all swirly*

Now...check, cash or Paypal? ^_^

My eyes aren't going swirly. ^_- I have to wonder what the image would look like on glossy paper? Paper quality is definitely a must, since cheap paper will make the image seem cheap.

...and the artwork is definitely not cheap! (I'd be willing to pay a pretty penny to get one for myself, but for now I need to pay off books, tuition, rent, and food, so we'll see where I'm at after that.)

Oh yeah, this comment is courtesy of my aunt's dial-up modem, which is insanely slow *cries*, so this is going to be the only comment anyone sees of me until I'm back to my laptop and apartment with the wireless internet. Because I am that impressed by the work, [livejournal.com profile] secondlina. ^_^

Paper quality has made me it's bitch over the last few years. I hate it so. I try to use photo paper has much as possible for image prints because it tends to be of a better quality (although so expensive!)

Hey, if you want it, since I know you well, I don't mind printing it out and sending it and waiting a while before receiving payments ^^ Consider it your "You-just-moved-and-payed-for-school-god-I-know-how-you-feel-i'm-pennyless-too" credit *laughs*

I curse dial up.

I'm back to my beloved wireless connection!

Anyway, thanks for the offer, but I'm not dirt poor - yet. Just waiting for financial aid to kick in. (I actually have a chunk of cash for emergency/whatever issues -I love my tips!-, so if worse comes to worse I can send cash in the mail again.)

For now I'm going to sit back and wait. I'm still getting settled in, and I'm not sure if I want something that nice traveling about the country with me as I go back and forth from home to school to back again. Oh yes, 'tis exciting being in school again... ^_-;;

Originaly the pic is designed to be 8.5 by 11 because it's the format the sketch was done on. However, the resolution is so good (300 pixel per inch) that it should not suffer too much from being blown up to double the size (11 by 14 inches very exactly)

It's a good idea about the laminating thought.

since you wish to buy it : whould you like matte or glossy paper? and Laminated or not?

I have no paypal (although I really should) so check or cash is good, but considering how little the sum is, might has well go cash. I trust you and yukiomoni, so i'll send the pics first and you can send the money upon recieving it.

Here's the odd thing though - do I need to get you the money in Canadian dollars or U.S. dollars? I think I should be able to do currency conversion at my bank. I'll ask them about it on Tuesday.

Hmm...which would be better for framing? Matte or glossy? I think I'm going to frame mine, so I'll skip the laminating.

er...
That's a good question!
Well, when I say 15, I meant 15 canadian, which is probably like 14 american (we are kinda close right now). Banks here can convert easily to canadian because they always have american dollards on reserve, I dunno if your can, if it can, it would be helpful. If not, I can do it here without a fee (if they tell you there is a fee, just send it in american: I have no fee)

If you frame behind glass, matte is better.
What size do you want?

I don't think it'll be a problem. I'll go by the bank when it opens on Tuesday and take care of it. :)

I'll go ahead and take the matte then. I'll let you pick the size, if you think the large one will work out fine, then I'll take it. :)

I was about to comment the sketch in the post before this one, but since now you haver posted the finished version, I'll comment here ^^

What I love the most, aside from the expresions of confidence, is the contrast between the "shadowy-demon-or-so-I-see-it-XD" that envolves them and the two little lights from Gourry's sword of light and Lina's spell (fireball? not shure ^^U) It makes a nice effect ^_^

I love the contrast between the light and dark myself, I was trying to get that effect after all ^^
They are such a nice couple to draw...

I wish I had a place to hang this because I would love to put it up somewhere.

The song was hilarious. It should totally be in the front of the comic, which I want fairly badly, I might add.
