(p.s : Watch out Bunneh, possible plotbunny attacks. Rabid.)
Well, i'm currently going through all my slayers crap (*picture Isa in front of giant pile of paper*) and I found a few loose sketches of Lina and Gourry. I rather like these sketches. They are in a bit of a non-anime style. I'm suprise at the number of times I used the characters to test out different styles.
I'm wondering about a few things about the doujinshi. For those interested: here is the news:
completion status: 20%
Title: Slayers Clone (thanks Earthstar!)
I'm also wondering about this: I have a lot of material but most of it is drawings and sketches...So I was thinking of divinding the comics into two sets and adding a gallery to the book. Then i'de have two doujins rather then one. (Slayers Clone and Slayers Copy). Aside from that, I'm also thinking of reprinting my older doujins created especially for Ichiban (Home and Poem). Those two have Amelia as a hero and are Zel/amelia canon. The Clone book(s) are both touching canon and fanon couples since I,m open to both so some jokes might be Lina/Gourry when others can be say Lina/Zelgadiss for instance)
I've also found the idea for the dramatic comic I'm going to add. I wanted to do a while back a wordless comic and just use the drawings to express emotions. So I decided to do an 8 page comic called "There are no words" based about the old "Goodbye Gourry" series of drawings. "There are no words" is about Lina coping with the death of her friends.
So in the end, i'de like people's opinions about if I should do two doujins rather then one and hence add more material to it.
About the price as well...I've learned it would cost me between 7 to 10$ to photocopie and bind all the pages (about 50) so I will most likely charge people 20$ for the comic, plus shipping expenses. I hope it's not to much. I'de also like people's opinions about the price. It won't be a cheap book people, trust me.
Here's the possible list of the contents:
(it's still just a draft)
Slayers Clone (Lina/ Gourry cover) / Slayers Copy (Zel/amelia cover)
Chibi Zel/amelia inside cover / Chibi Lina/Gourry cover
On the twelves days of christmas, the slayers gave to me...(song Parody)
I'm a believer (song Parody)
The devil in your eyes (song Parody)
There are no words (drama comic)
Why does Zel really hate being a chimera? (part one and two)
Behind the Studios Lina's day.
Behind the Studio's Zel's
Behind the Studio's Gourry's day
Behind the Studio's Amelia's day.
Slayers Couple madness.
Accident (short story)
The Zelgadiss stripping series (7 parts)
Gallery one.
Gallery two.
In another subject, someone raised hell in my photobucket acocunt. I suspect the flamers. I really don't want to make this journal friends only, because most of my friends who pass by here do not have a journal! I don't know what to do to keep these freaks from...doing this!
And I don't want to close doing site again...
and now without delay, pictures!

Date: 2006-08-17 03:41 am (UTC)I don't really support Lina/Zelgadis, but it makes me wonder. How come there's nothing about Amelia/Gourry?

Date: 2006-08-17 07:37 pm (UTC)I support Zel and Lina more or less. I've draw a few jokes about that couple because :
A) for a certain kind of humor, it just works very well.
B) It's actually a popular fanon couple with hints present and slayers and slayers try (but absolutly not in next! ^^)
C) because that Fanon couple has a very different atmosphere then Lina/gourry or Amelia/Zel. Both the canon couples have a "protective" feel, like both of the counterparts will try to save each other either physicly or mentally. The Zel/lina couple (ironicly) has a feeling of forbidden love, of love that will never work and just make a sad, painful story. It's interesting to work with that pain I suppose.
Besides, according to slayers, all lovers have matching hairdoes. Nuff said.

Date: 2006-08-17 08:25 pm (UTC)I always thought of Gourry being a good big brother type to Amelia, as they both fight for the same goals.
As for Lina/Zelgadis,
I guess I'm just more in tune with Amelia/Zelgadis thanks to all the numerous fandoms out there.
Then again, I'm so much more devoted to Amelia/Lina as my favorite yuri couple...
Matching hairstyles.....indeed.

Date: 2006-08-24 09:10 am (UTC)I think Lina and Zel really work well in a best friend capacity. Really, Amelia, Gourry and Zel all fit into that category for Lina - moreso than Naga, Luke and Millina ever did. Focusing on just Gourry and Zel, they balance out what Lina needs in friends. Gourry can't be the intellectual buddy. He can't be the one she can discuss magic, history (unless it pertains to swords), theories and other things like that with. However, Zelgadiss can't be the emotional buddy. He's so closed off and so focused on himself that he wouldn't be able to open up enough to focus on someone else's needs. One of the consistent things in the Slayers series (in Next, Try and Aqualord) is that whenever Lina is feeling in doubt about her ability to get through whatever earth-shaking experience they're currently going through, Lina turns to Gourry before Amelia or Zel. It's been emphasized in Next and Aqualord that they are extremely in tune with each other and can usually anticipate the other's movements without saying a word - which I don't think Lina could do to the same degree with Zel.
I guess to make a long story short, I think Gourry makes the better romantic partner because he balances Lina out. Not so much protection-wise, but he also restrains her when she goes over the top. He is willing to follow her anywhere and Lina needs that type of person. She's not the sort of person who will give up wandering unless she is good and ready, and she wants to follow her own agenda. Therefore, it wouldn't work with Zel. They're too much alike in a lot of respects. However, I think that Zel makes a terrific friend and I love seeing the friendship between them be explored. There's a lot of good things to be said for platonic love between a man and a woman. Zel and Lina respect each other, look out for each other and do all of that as friends. I have male friends like that. We get along just fine on many different levels, but they wouldn't be ideal romantic partners.
I won't even begin to rant about the wrongness of certain aspects of Slayers Try. I'd run out of room. ^_~

Date: 2006-08-17 05:06 am (UTC)I do love the sketchies. I think my favorite is on the first page, bottom row, second from the left of Lina looking over her shoulder. I like the 'embarrassed Gourry' sketch as well, but he reminds me of Tarzan's look in the Disney movie. ^_- Not that that's a bad thing. *imagine Gourry swinging from the trees*
As for your account, is it possible to change your password? It really is good to choose something that has a combination of words and numbers. Good luck showing them what for, or convincing your friends who view your page to get their own accounts so if you do have to filter it, the people who matter will still be able to enjoy your stuff. It's not easy, but I was able to get most of my gaming group to get their own accounts. (Even after some laughed at me for having one, they too eventually weakened!)
Oh, easy answers to your questions: Extra content is always nice, but don't kill yourself trying to add more if you don't have the inspiration. $20.00 isn't much at all, considering what we'd be getting in return. I paid you more than that for one drawing, so you can be sure I wouldn't mind having to pay a bit more for a whole book of drawings! ^_^

Date: 2006-08-17 07:49 pm (UTC)The super top secret project will be finished some day, but not in this batch. Here i'm only gonna print Clone and Copy (yes, I decided there should be two ^^) and possibly Home and Poem (if you give me permission, after all, it was originaly done for you)
I rather like that drawing of lina myself (notice she is looking at Gourry)
I think for the money i'll set it at a minimum of 20, but if people want to give more i'll take it. I think it's better for everyone that way.

Date: 2006-08-18 02:15 am (UTC)If things turn out a bit more expensive than you first thought, don't be afraid to say something. Having sold my dolls for barely more than cost (and basically nothing for the labor), in the end it didn't really get me anywhere. Then again, most fans of anything seem so poor.... Anyway! You know I'll tip, even if it's in things not monetary. :D

Date: 2006-08-17 08:22 am (UTC)About the doujinshi contens... I'm with Ichiban, better do two doujins than one, but be carefull to not stuff them too much with extra contents (leave some ideas for future doujins ;) ) As for the price... MY GOD, 20$!!?? O_O That sounds expensive to me ^^U But I must add that the doujinshi culture it's not very developped in my country - there are very few, edited by almost-unknown editorials or by the artists themselves, and cheaper than the average mangas (the most expensive doujinshi I came accross was one that costed 3.50 Euros... while the average price of a "oficcial" manga is around 6-7 Euros...) So probably my opinion about the price won't count ^^U
Anyway, good luck! ;)

Date: 2006-08-17 10:24 am (UTC)I agree, two doujins would be much better. 20$ sounds a bit expensive to me, but that's including the price of the biding and printing (about 7 to 10$)and of the shipping (between 2 and 5 $). So if this gets really bad, it would cost me about 15$ and I would technicly only be paid 5$ for all the work I put in. So...it's the process that is a killer really ^^;; However, I can probably take it down if I get to print several, then the price would be diluded among the several copies. Also, this 20$ is in canadian money, so you gotta convert it ^^;;; (I'm really not sure what it gives in euros!) but probably a lot less. It's always hard for me to set a price for my work. I though 20 seemed okay because of the costs and the fact the that the doujin wll have about 50 pages when your average doujin has maybe 20.

*eyes the plotbunnies* Stay away, I tell you! Back! Back, I say! I don't need anymore of you hopping around in my head. I've enough as...oh, all right. *embraces plotbunnies*
I'm more than willing to pay $20 to help support your work. You do such a fantastic job at it. I've been a fan since I saw the two doujinshis you did for
Must...withstand...urge...to...write...

I really love those sketches myself ^^ Hence why I posted them.

Date: 2006-08-17 12:08 pm (UTC)I'm willing to pay 20 dollars. It's sounds fair to me, when you considered all the work you put into it. 2 doujins might be a good idea, but you should only do it if you really want to. You could always do the one doujin now and work on the other one later.

Date: 2006-08-17 12:34 pm (UTC)The price is fine to me; that sounds about average for a doujin, anyways.
As for the contents, they all sound interesting to me. Although I lean towards canon, sometimes fanon isn't so bad either. I like jokes.
I wish I could say that I DID cause trouble on your Photobucket account, because I'm the type of person who would do stuff like that, but I actually have no idea where your account IS, so I didn't. Sorry x.x
Re: Priiiiiiiiiiitteeeeeeeeeee...........
Date: 2006-08-17 07:53 pm (UTC)The person who caused trouble in my Photobucket actually deleted some pictures and replaced them by nudity pictures that actually appeared on the LJ through the several links made by the pictures to photobucket! Imagine my reaction when I came to update!
Thank god it was mainly on older posts.

Date: 2006-08-18 01:31 am (UTC)That pisses me off. I hate it when people just go into other people's accounts and fuck around like they belong there. That's so much worse than I thought. I thought it was just a flame war thing. What the fucking shit?!
Rar...If you find out who it was, let me know. I'll make them pay.
