Crazy sketches!! I sketched these during a meeting with friends. I really can't pay attention at people talking if i'm not doodling. Which if probably why I blank out a lot at work meetings. They talk for a long time and don't really enjoy doodling while they talk.

This makes me want to do a story about tiny mermaids. Pocket and forearm size :D Or something.

I apologize for not having much to say lately. I'm feeling rather drained. Like my soul is drained. Blaaaargh. On a positive note, I saw a movie with a friend tonight, [livejournal.com profile] cxco . It was super awesome! :D

I am also currently a part of this wonderful project called the Womantology, which is basically a comic anthology with only women. It's going to rock. They have these "meet the artists" video. Mine is currently up on the site (http://womanthology.blogspot.com/) Behold. Click on the image to see my silly presentation! I tried to make it original and cute.

Also, Jabberwockies are now sold out. Thanks guys. You are dynamite ladies and gentlemens. I'll try to get the books to you all ASAP. So far, this week is promising to be extra busy, so I might not be able to get to do before Monday :(

....Not quite sex in the city. More like book geeks int he city. But it's fun :D

The whole discussion was brought on by talking about the "Doctor Jekyll and Mister Hyde" musical, movie and book.

For those of you who don't know, "Oedipus Rex" (translates as "King Oedipus") is a famous antique greek play based around the character of Oedipus. It's a tragedy that's part of a three-play thing. The first play speaks of Oedipus and his rotten life (Was sent away because of a prophecy, killed his dad, became kind, banged his mom, learned about it after having a few kids, and poked his eyes out. He's also the hero who beated the Sphinx). The two other plays are about how his rotten life expands to his descendants (poor, poor Antigone). Because greek tragedies are fun and gruesome that way. They like to  inflict multi-generational torture.

Kinda reminds me, when I was a kid, I had a book with greek myths inside. They did have Oedipus, but the tale was ONLY about how he beat the Sphinx's riddle. They removed all the icky content. You know... for kids!

Re-reading greek myths though... I honestly have to say almost all the male heroes are mean. "Cupid and Psyche" is one of the only myths featuring a)a chick that kicks butt and b) a male lead who isn't a jerk.

Oh well. At least it still gives me wacky inspiration.

Jocasta totally gets a solo.

I get the feeling that if I keep drawing these, Leda and Cassandra are gonna come back a lot. It's so easy!

In other news, i'm totally behind on the times because ODIN SPHERE!! OH MY GOD ODIN SPHERE! Link has been playing it for a good while. I pop in to watch him play and check out the cinematics. I love it! Mostly, i'm impressed by the whole hand-draw looking background. So, I think my goal now is to try to start drawing backgrounds worthy of being in Odin Sphere. BECAUSE OMG LOOK AT IT:

SO PRETTY.

The group who made this apparently also made a game for the wii. Apparently that game is rare, but I would love to get my hands on it. I'm not much of a gamer, but games like this... I at least want to watch... Story seems like a bit of nonsense though. But they have pretty valkyries. In dresses. My argument is now invalid.

Mythology jokes will never die. Hilarious forever!

This one plays with the myth of Leda, who got to do it with Zeus in Swan-format, and also a little stab at poor Cassandra.

News wise. Well, I seem to be not sick anymore! But Link is. Tomorrow, i'm doing a late shift (noon to 8h30). Wednesday I plan to hang out with [livejournal.com profile] starmetal_oak ! :D I'm having a bit of trouble juggling seeing people. I want to have a nice social life, but drawing is so time consuming!

In Namesake news, the Launch date is fully set. October 5th is the day. Unless I break my arm or something horrifying happens. A few beta readers helped me and [livejournal.com profile] dqbunny  build a strong story and website... I really hope you guys like it! I'm excited and mortified at the same time!

A few of you might remember me talking about being dissatisfied at work. mostly because tech support felt a bit like a dead end for me. I tried looking around a bit and failed some interviews. I ended up talking to my boss and engaging plan "B". Plan "B" being, instead of leaving a job, discuss it and see if it's possible to move on up. Well, I got my annual evaluation today. People at my job like me. I earned some extra money as a bonus, which is nice, and also managed to get more responsibilities, mostly with marketing rather then tech support. So, good news for me. I can rest easy and not worry so much about jobstuff for now. I'm willing to give these new responsibilities the old college try. In part because this job has a lot of nice things (I like the people and the flexibility) and also because I despise looking for work and starting new jobs. Hey, stress away from work is stress I can invest in my art life instead. Wee.

In any case. Time for bed. :D

Isa doing good.

 ...Stab people?

Lately I really got into the HBO tv series of Rome. It's a pretty fun series. The boxsets are ungodly expensive, but I managed to find them at the decent price (39$ instead of 80$). I bought them mostly for Link, since it's one of his favorites series. And he was feeling pretty down. But I gotta say, i'm loving it myself. It's a bit more adult then most series I watch (Isa likes things for the kiddies), but it's got pretty tight storytelling. I wonder how authentic this series is. Historically, I can see where they took a few liberties. But i'm wondering how accurate is their portrayal of everyday life. It looks pretty researched.

I remember back when I was a kid I was obsessed by the Greek and Roman Hellenistic societies. Because of "Asterix" and Greek myths of course.

I other mythological news, I also watched the "Percy Jackson and the Olympians - The lighting Thieft" movie. I was... Disappointed. Though amused that actors from the Rome tv series appeared in that movie (what a coincidence!) and also Uma Thurman, the movie was kinda meh. The acting wasn't too great. I liked the book a lot better. My imagination made nicer 3d renders. XD

I want to go back into drawing Slayers fanart. My whole friend list is talking about Lina and Gourry and I want to draaaaw them.

It's official, I have too many fanfiction writers in my friends.

This comic is inspired by the myth of Persephone, for those of you who might not know.

So autumn and it's unpredictable nature is upon us. We have days that were positively heatwaves followed by windy, stormy cold. Brrr.

Animals are preparing to hibernate and me and Link had to deal with some pretty bold squirrel invasion. It's no secret that our apartment as old, really crappy windows. It's one of the reasons why we don't pay for the heating.  Nobody would want to pay to heat up an apartment this badly isolated. In front of the balcony, we have a large tree. And next to the balcony door, two windows. One had a mosquito screen and the other didn't. So we never opened the one without one. The mosquito screen on the other was broken (it could be lifted from the bottom) but we figured it will still keep bugs out. We didn't consider large tree-dwelling rodents. For this past week, whenever I cam home, I always found the bread bag open, on the floor. I always assumed it was Link hitting and dropping it while making his coffee. But then one day, I walked in and saw squirrels collecting said bread, and escape under the screen.

I taped the screen down on both sides using duct tape. They chewed through it. Link caught them escaping with two apples and more bread. Link ended up trying to sew the screen back in place. But now that the weather is cooler, we just closed that window. Bold squirrels. I tell you. I' all for them getting food for the winter, but i'd rather not share too much of my food with them.

It's been really windy these past few days. It feels good to feel the air move.

I need to hit the art store soon. Isa needs supplies.

Generally stuff is good. Work stuff and some activity on my family side was a little sad, though I won't really mention it here. But I assure you guys that i'm doing well and i'm a good mood, despite the temperature dropping.
