I just want to point out, first and foremost, that Link will be moving his stuff to Montréal on the 25th. Meaning that I won't have any computer to update, and only the computer at work to answer my messages. Since i'm only going home from the internship on the second of july, don't panic if my email responses are slow until then. From the 25 of june to the 2nd of july, i'm not dead, i'm just in radio silence. Don't panic everyone XD.

Okay, now that that's done...

I'm currently listening to the Utena soundtrack of the movie. Damn it's good music! I actually saw at a comic store around here the special manga created for the movie. I really should buy it; i've been meaning to read it. I also want to buy the fifth book of Emma that came out today, which is an awesome manga! Good story, nice drawings, historical exactitude!

The story of Emma is about a maid in a victorian household that falls in love with a man from a higher social status. Yes, roll your eyes people, you see where this is going don't you? Well, you don't! Emma is a very researched manga, details of the Victorian area are included in almost every panel. Thus, the story is much more realistic and I don't think it's going to finish with a pink fluffy cheap ending. Up to now, it most certainly doesn't look like it will! So Emma. Look it up. Good manga. There's an anime as well.

I forgot to include in my to do list : Getting my driver's license. I need to pass my exam when I get home. I dread that. I'm very much out of practice right now. I think i'll try kicking in two weeks of intense driving before passing it. But i'm sure the exam itself will be fine as soon as I practice a bit more.

I'm currently finishing up a doujinshi for[profile] ichiban_victory . Sher and I often trade art for art, in this case, a doujin about a personal character (her D&D / WoW avatar) for an armada of Work creatures. Seems like a fair deal. The Doujin is relativly sort (only 15 pages this time!) but the drawings are really worked. I love the cover page I did...

For the cover I tried to explore not Relina's knight side, but her beautiful elf side (she has a blessed chest people. The girl is hot.) I like the shine and the toga effect.

The doujin itself is about Relina meeting again with an former travel companion who assumed she was deceased. THe former companion, named Ianil speaks to her for a while and helps Relina realise it's time she risked her life for her cause. Relina has a curse making so that killing her greater ennemy will result in her death.

The pages look really full and good. I still hate inking though.

That's all for now I believe.

Dear [profile] ichiban_victory...

You knew this was coming.

You may now resume your work.

Yeepee! I finally finished the design of Relina for Ichiban: Here it is! (this is a very small low resolution of the actual file. If you like it Ichi, tell me and i'll send it by email)

Other then that, life sucks a little. I have plenty of work to do, but I feel like i've lost a bit of my drive...I'm not working quite as fast and lack ideas. Anybody got advice on how to fight the end of school year blues?

Wow, I just spent a lazy couple of days. I spent most of them with a friend, watching movies I've been meaning to see, like HOWL'S MOVING CASTLE! Woots! It's a great movie, completly worth it. I read the original book a while back. I went nuts over it, I loved how Howl the wizard was a real crybaby that threw mystical fits once in a while.
The movie adaptation is pretty good, it respects the book fairly well and yet feels very different. The english dub was pretty good too (no people talking with their mouth close or not talking with their mouth open. Good lines too. Nice choices of voice actors) I managed to watch it in english without doing my usual "Oh god this is really awful voices" crindge (developed by watching french dubs of american movies. I still don't get why americans insist on translating their own movies. The text is always horrible and childish and the voice actors sound like mice)
I loved the interpretation of calcifer, the fire demon. Imagine my suprise when I noticed Billy Christal was his dubber O_O It fits so well!
I any case, I just had to draw a Sophie and Howl fanart. I went deep into the pile of drawings I had done after reading the book and changed my invented clothes for the movie's clothing. A few touch-ups and VoilĂ ! Beautiful colored fanart XD
I also finished drawing Relina for Ichiban, the final version. It's not colored yet, because I wasn't aware if the character had a certain set of colors I needed to respect.
Aside from that, tomorrow one of my friends and his twin brother and sister are celebrating their common birthday (triplets, imagine that!). I've been staring at the pile of homework on my desk and thinking maybe I could ditch it to go see them (i've been invited) but then again, I really need to work...Gah! Not to mention i've been harassing that guy for the past couple of days XD I guess it's better if I don't go, so he can see his brothers and friends and such.
I've never really been much of a party person either way. I tend to be antisocial and shy. Especially when the party is full of people I don't know.
Oh well. Guess it's gonna be a magical weekend of homework fun for me. (oh, the exaliration.)

Once again, I return with a post after a very long absence *ahem*
Last week was my march break, but I didn't exactly party much, I did mostly work in order to actually have something to present on my two art critiques (which are done now, yay!)
Today I noticed a lot of arts people are afraid of computers. Tech thingies scare the living pixels out of them. There was even this girl that was flipping out because she could not change the volume on her ipod (she didn't know how)
The way I see it, in the art building you've got 3 kinds of students: the paper ones who are dead afraid of anything with circuits, the super techkkies who know everything and anything and build drawing machines and web sites and finally the middle grounders who aren't afraid but suck because mainly self-taught (that would be my group.)
I dunno, I fell like all artists should be well informed of technology. I mean, it's most likely gonna be the way to do art in the future (online and such). I see a lot of people's LJ's and it looks like a masterpiece on it's own! Not to mention all the reall creative icons...
On a different note, I got myself offered a few contract jobs, one to manage a comic book collection in a bookstore (decide and order job basicly) and the other to design some magazine illustrations. Pretty cool! I still need to find myself a stable summer job so I can pay my school for next session. Freelancing as a rookie only goes so far.I'm thinking I'm probably either going back to my old job at the tourist infested bakery or try working at a temp job (boring I know, but the pay is nothing to sneeze at!) Idealy, i'de get a job in arts, but those are hard to find if you still...huh...are learning.
Finally, this is for Ichiban: A trial sketch of the beautiful Relina, Elf paladin. Love the ears.
