A friend of mine, Valerie, dared me to draw a comic involving a sock puppet and a straw. It gave this. I am either really crazy, or some kind of god of memes. This is also a bit of a musing on a fact I learned when I started living with Link. Boys and Girls really don't have the same levels of stinky. Boy stinky creates zombie!socks.

Valerie also reminded me of this cool video. University of Montréal students did a giant 100 people sip sync of "I Gotta Feeling" that crosses a whole university building and involves various costumes (keep a lookout for Sakespear and Waldo). It's quite the thing to behold. It was so popular on youtube, CNN aired it. It's hilarious. The last little bit in french is a translation of the song.

That's all for today. Enjoy the crazy randomness.

Yeah, I made you all want to see <9> didn't I? I just bought it.

I'm a weird person, there's three really silly things in life that terrify me. I mean, I have normal, serious fears, like everyone. But I also have 3 really dumb, illogical ones. Ghosts are one of them. They really scare me. I mean, i'm a whimpering coward crying in a corner with only the mention of ghosts. The second one is buzzing, flying bugs. Don't ask me why. But my friends are amused at seeing me freak out from having a dragonfly zoom past me. The last thing is toys and plushies getting destroyed, pulled apart, burned, generally maimed. I have no idea why.

When I was a kid, I though toys were alive (...damn you, Toy Story!) so the idea of one getting damaged terrified me. I was afraid that a mean toy would get his revenge. And I was worried that a kind toy would be in pain, screaming silently on the inside. Yeah, I was a freaky kid. When I saw toys in the street, lost, I always picked them up and put them in a less "dangerous" place (on a bench, under a roof so it doesn't rain on them, etc). Lost toys make me sad. Destroyed toys freak me out (again, remember how this is not a logical fear).

So yeah, that scene in Toy story where "reconstructed" zombie toys come out from under a bed is pure nightmare fuel for me.

<9> seems to be in that scary zone too. It's kinda like the Matrix had a child with Little Big Planet and the child was raised by Tim Burton. So there's violence made to plushies. Damn cute, voodoo looking stitch plushies. And yeah, most of them died and a lot get ripped in this movie. I want to see this movie because, dammit, it's Tim Burton and it looks cool. But I think i'm gonna wait until Link gets here before watching it...

For those wondering, the scene I saw was the death of Number "5". Brrrrr.

You guys must have so illogical fears too.

So, hi everybody...

I really wanted to draw a comic for today, but i'm really dead. Dead Dead Deaders. This bus strike thing in Ottawa is really stretching out my work hours, plus the walks in winter and the general woe that comes with the time of the month... Isa is dead tired.

So instead, I took pictures of the project i'm working on right now. Friends of mine and myself are working on a big quilt. It's a very non-traditional quilt though, and it's super artistic. Everyone in the group is making a few squares for the quilt. Here are mine.

Mine combine sewing, toys and drawing. The theme of the quilt was "Security Blanket". I chose to think of children security blankets (or blankie, if you are intimate) and on how they kinda protect you from harm in your imagination and can become a magic carpet, a tent, a friend... This also taps a little bit in the ideas of children abuse because honestly the statistics for child violence and abuse still frighten me. Once finished the quilt will be expose in Montréal for the art Nuit Blanche event.

Here is my favorite piece. Click on the link for the other pieces.
The animals in them are a wolf, shadows, fish, a bat and (teddy) bears
