Oh my god, i'm still alive!

As most of you know, I spent a weekend and a day in Toronto to visit friends and attend Anime North 2009. That weekend was fabulous. It's a shame that upon my return my boss would unleash 13 hour days (I kid you not) on me. As a result i'm kinda tired, have not yet unpacked and had no time to draw a con recon. :(

But enough with the bitchin'

It was great to see my friends [livejournal.com profile] zenavvy , [profile] earthstar_chan  and [livejournal.com profile] gullwhacker . I wasn't able to find free time to see [livejournal.com profile] neshel , which made me sad. The stories of our aventures are hilarious though. I looted plenty of anime boxsets. Strange, now that I am reading less manga, I seem to be watching my anime then ever! I also got Gargoyles as a b-day present from the gang. Not knowing was Gargoyles WAS, I responded to receiving the boxset by saying *I don't like furries.*

Johanne responded fairly quickly that this was la creme de la creme of tv animation and that I had to watch it. Link also geeked over upon seeing the said boxset when he joined us in Toronto. Looks like the present is indirectly a present for him too *laughs*

Aside from the boxset loot, I was also able to score a zel keychain, an awesome leather classy packman themed bracelet (CLASSY!), a mini top hat (to match Link's con wear - a larger top hat), some plushies and of course the body smell of a massive amount of people (eek). With the gang, I had a ton of fun watching Dragonball Abridged, attempting to steal Zen's heart (much in the way of Crow!Mytho in the Anime Princess tutu. God, I love crows!), assaulting Toronto and making up a funny version of a Slayers play. Yes, it's an idea loosely based on the Avatar episode on Ember Island. Naga, back to her old self, and remembering the stories that Amelia told her of the Slayer's adventures while she was Nama, decides to sell the story to some theatre troupe for money and the opportunity of humiliating Lina Inverse. Lina was already the theme of a play in season one, but this play would have everybody in it. It would basically be Naga's version of Amelia's version of the facts, and it would be damn ridiculous. And of course, Zel would get a musical number containing as many rock puns as humanly possible.

I really think this is my last con. I'm getting to old and i'm definitly more motivated to see my friends rather then attend the actual con. So we though next year we should do like they do in the webcomic Something Positive: We should hold our own personal mini-con complete with watching of series, video games, D&D and generally drawing at somebody's home somewhere in North america. That way, we can still all cross the country to meet.

In the way of cosplays, there was a few interesting ones. One of the recurring ones was these two cheshire cats and their wonderland crew. Eventually, I was hoping it was a new wonderland themed anime! So I asked one of the cosplayers where it was from. Apparently, it's from a special episode of Ouran Host Club. Darn! No alice Anime. Oh well, if anything, this will encourage me to watch Ouran.

Don't forget to ride your chocobo...

That's all for now. I gotta go to bed. Another long 10 to 13 hour shift awaits me tomorrow! Yay...

Anime North is over and done with, it was pretty cool! Me, Link, my friend Fauve and her fiancé went together on saturday. We had to wait two hours in line to get in. Next time I go for a con, i'll definitly buy my tickets before hand! However, the time we waited in line went by really fast because every two minutes we went nuts and said "Oh my god it's *insert name here* from *insert name here* and it's a wicked costume! Take a picture!" So while we were in line, I took like a hundred pictures or so.

I got a t-shirt, a Vivi Plushie, a Packman ghost plushie, a few mangas...I wanted to buy several doujins, cds and stuff. I tried finding some Ichigo x Rukia doujins (Bleach) however all the doujins stations had sold them earlier in the morning. Apparently, non-yaoi couples from Bleach don't sell that well, so they only brough a few of Ichiruki8 and apparently all three booths had sold the ichiruki stuff to the same person dressed as LInk (Legend of Zelda). I wish I could have found that LInk and asked him if I could have at least one, but LInk was a very popular costume that year!

The really popular costumes were Bleach, Zelda, Naruto (ninja's by the ton!), Sailor moon (the whole friggin' cast!!! including villains!) and Anything related to Cloud (aka Final Fantasy 7, Advent children and Kingdom Hearts).

Here are some photos! I think they look great!

That's all for photos. The con made me realise that it was high time I started on my doujins/fanarts. Next time, when con season hits Ottawa, I should rent a table. Heck, a lot of the artists selling their stuff are very good, but others are relativly ordinary. I believe my stuff could sell well if I wanted it to. I just need to find a few good ideas, possibly not all slayers related. I'd love to do a Zelda Doujin and a Bleach Doujin...

Well, I was going through my props and costumes today because I am starting a photo project about fairy tales (aka, I get to dress people up! Squee!)

And I found a few things that made me think of Renge. So guess what I did?

Yes, that's right. I took a break from my pile of work to go cosplay Renge.

I'm such a geek.

The photos turned out very nice though! I love the hair! ^^ I think I imitated well the positions and attitude I imagined for the character.
And for those who wonder: I forgot to write it down but Renge DOES wear glasses. But only to read.

I kinda wanna make icons from these. But I suck at iconing.

p.s. why is it the photos where I actually look cool, i'm dressed up? *sigh* Why am I not pretty as myself --_--

Peace out.

Fireball, bitch!

Looking up and pretty!

Renge, the sad mage.

Casting a spell! (I swear I did not tweak this with photoshop...It's the flash reflection. Looks cool though!)

...I'm just a slow updater is all!
I'de like to open up this entry by saying I just changed my mood theme to a home-made Howl's moving castle mood theme and I enjoy it very much. Horray for owning the movie and a computer that can play dvds!
Other then that, I'm proud to announce the one of Gustav Klimt's paintings (very talented modern painter...google him if you don't know him people) as just been sold to a collecteur after being lost for years (since it was taken by nazis, to be accurate.) Even better the painting (intitled "Portrait of Adele Bloch-Bauer") is currently the modern painting that has been sold for the higest price in history of modern art! Even more that the two latests biggest sales that were first a Picasso and, second, a Gaugain!
Considering Klimt is one of my greatests inspirations with Mucha and Bearsdley, I'm very happy about this.

And Finally, here is a few con-related pictures to prove to CERTAIN people that yes, I was there XD

I took a picture with one of the Clouds there. There was a whole lot.

There was also a guy dressed as Sailor Moon.

From the con I got these Rukia and Ichigo plushies...aw ^^

They sit! I also found a lot of fan made stuff such as a fan manga (where the main character was SUCH a rip of lina!) and fanart since there was a lot of fan stands. I even got some fan made pins and magnets, including this cute little heartless one.

I also got a t-shirt that says "Go to Jigoku and this brand new Slayers wallscroll (along with a full moon o sagashite wallscroll)

100_1248.jpg

Here's a closer look of the wallscroll, just for Ichiban ^^

100_1249.jpg

And finally in this array of photos, my brand new Nana bag! ^^

In resume, cons are fun, but Isa spends too much there...
Good thing some money will come in soon when i'll be done doing these god fucked advertisement contracts. Advertisement is a bitch. Why do I really wanna go in there...?
Other then that, I'm looking for drawing suggestions to fight a block.

wow...

Some people's cosplays just really impress me...

I'm going to have to post a photo of all the clothes i've made one day. i've made a few skirts, but I never done any cosplay, aside from that one time I dressed up as inuyasha (I still wear the pants once in a while during the summer. Those really puffy red pants are quite confortable and look really cool with a black top XD)
On another note, I think I just got a good idea for my drawing project! Oh joy ^^ I was blocked.
