Well, I was going through my props and costumes today because I am starting a photo project about fairy tales (aka, I get to dress people up! Squee!)

And I found a few things that made me think of Renge. So guess what I did?

Yes, that's right. I took a break from my pile of work to go cosplay Renge.

I'm such a geek.

The photos turned out very nice though! I love the hair! ^^ I think I imitated well the positions and attitude I imagined for the character.
And for those who wonder: I forgot to write it down but Renge DOES wear glasses. But only to read.

I kinda wanna make icons from these. But I suck at iconing.

-secondlina

p.s. why is it the photos where I actually look cool, i'm dressed up? *sigh* Why am I not pretty as myself --_--

Peace out.

Fireball, bitch!

Looking up and pretty!

Renge, the sad mage.

Casting a spell! (I swear I did not tweak this with photoshop...It's the flash reflection. Looks cool though!)

The last photo really does look very cool. Kind of eerie with the eyes, which adds to it.

So, who are your intended victims when you dress up folks for your fairy tales?

*imagines possible scenario*

LINK: You want me to be what??
ISA: *shakes Peter Pan costume* It won't be on for long (trust me.) Besides, I have it on good faith that you'll look damn good in tights!
LINK: ... Can I have the Jack Sprarrow costume back?

Ick, totally slaughtered Jack Sparrow's name. Definitely time for me to eat something.

Peter pan? Forget peter pan! Why should I make him wear tights when he can wear a Toga? XD
*laughs*

And seriously, I did find a Jack Sparrow outfit. I din't buy it though.

I have a few volonteers who are willing to play dress up for me, and I will play a few roles myself, following in the footsteps of the great photograph Cindy Sherman (she took thousands of pictures of herself, dresses up as cinema stereotypes.)

I suddenly have this image in my mind called "Isa's Wildest Fantasies" and they're all of Link dressed in different costumes - a toga, Jack Sparrow, various characters from Kingdom Hearts, Zel, Xelloss, other characters. "Don't you have anything better to work?" "No! Now, stop interuppting my fantasies!"

WORK: "Pay attention to meeeeee!"

I need to look up Cindy Sherman's work. It sounds really interesting. What sort of digital are you using?

poor Link. Now i'm actually going to have to draw that as a comic. *smicks*

gosh, I really love cindy sherman. I'm impressed in how used herself has a model for years. I kinda want to try it a bit, but i,m also going to use other people. I also want to try to do more photoshop alterations to the pictures.

I take photos in Raw or high Jpg format. My camera is a kodak easyshare p850.

[livejournal.com profile] cyperian just spent more than $10,000 on camera equipment, including the latest Canon digital SLR. Notice the nice tinge of green that my face has taken. Another friend of ours nearly fainted when she got a chance just to hold the body of the SLR.

I have a Nikon myself, and it's a decent little camera. It's not an SLR, but like you, I tend to take photos in high JPG. I don't think this camera has a RAW mode, I could be wrong.

Let me introduce you to my friend, Martin Gee. He's a designer, but he is so, so much more. His work is outstanding and he's considered to be one of the best in my field. He's also a really nice guy and is absolutely hilarious. I was very lucky enough to attend one of his Photoshop panels at our industry conference last year and the room was so crowded that we broke several fire codes and had people literally sitting on top of each other. I think you'll like his work a lot.

Oh! [livejournal.com profile] knightreborn told me that you are also a fan of Fables. ^_^

I really like that X-mas tree project he did in his photo gallery. O_O Your friend seems to be very talented! I'll have to look at everything on his site.

And yes (damn you wesley, you talk to much XD) I'm a big fan of fables. I've always loved myth and legends and fairy tales, ever since I was little (I've been buying books upon books of it since I was five) So when I saw the comic book of Fables (That wesley told me to purchase) I read the damn thing...then I read it again. And again. Then I realised I was in love! ^^ Fairy tales in our modern world is a subject that has always fascinated me, so fables and me was instant love.

I'm also a fan of Bone, Blankets, Runaways, Scott pilgrim and Elfquest. (In the american comic department anyways)

My friend, Celeste, is a huge fan of the Pinis. She's met them before through the con she works for (her hometown is the same as Wesley's ^_^)

My boss was the one who told me about Fables and I devoured the books after my interview here. I've never gotten that much into American comics, but now I'm wanting to explore more.

I don't know much about american comics either. The kind I know the most is european. Then manga of course.

If you're looking for some good readings, ask Wes. He's the man when it comes to english panels.

They're cool, but that last one is really creeping me out!!! It's like you have no eyes, or you have ghost eyes are something. It's scary!!!

I'd give the icons a go but I'm sure there are others who will do a much better job then I could ever do.

Yeah, I'm not talented for incons either. I can draw like dah bomb but I can't design a 100x100 pixel image worth a damn. Figures.

I'm more for the natural look myself, so I think you look just fine with your natural hair (not color since I know you experiment a lot :)). I don't know if anyone can really ever truly look at themselves and like what they see. I know I'm not as pretty as some. But oh well. It's the inner beauty that counts!

The cosplay looks awesome, by the way. I'm sure I'd have no trouble cosplaying as Victoria since most clothes made for "normal" people are too big for me anyway. XP (As it is, I'm trapped in Idaho with nothing to even attempt to.)

It's been years since I had my natural hair color *laughs*
Well, more or less. I usually always leave a part of my hair untouched in the back. The orange-red-black look is by far my favorite ^^

I really like that cosplay too! I wanted Renge to have funky colors, purple black and red. It turned out so cool! Maybe I should dress up again some time and take some outside.

Whoa! behold the amazing mighty power of the stunning frightening last photo, it also looks like you have some scars just below your (closed) eyes, and the gazing ones seems to be looking so deep.... it's really... an interesting effect.

Thinking you're looking cool while cosplaying and normal otherwise? people usually doesn't fully like themselves, I think is more about finding the right theme or light or mood or inspiration, why the obssession with the "I'm not pretty enough" these days? As ichiban_victory said "It's the inner beauty that counts!", because, what's the prettiness? (sorry, I'm kinda sleepy...)

-Drankel

I like "the looking up and pretty" one.

Congradulation... You were able to catch yourself in the middle of blinking. There's only like two 24th of a second per blink where you can get that sort of picture...
small window of oppertunity... hard to catch....
is... kinda fun.... and sort of... cool...
I'll stop talking now. :(

Seriously though... that is a pretty cool effect you where able to catch.

And you got someone to take those pictures didnt you.... oddly enough though, your left arm is always cut off.
Anyways.
Keep up the good work and I'll be looking forward to seeing you here.
Bye

*blushing*

Yeah, at first I though it was a flash effect, but turns up, it was me blinking. I really like that effect though. I bet i'll never get that again.

Gah. On a total of 20 photos, these were the best. there's always an arm cut, or a head cut, or blurry, or god knows what else. Chris is not the best photograph. ^^;;;

Maybe I should get a trepied and use the timer next time...

And this time i,m bringning my camera to Toronto dammit! and you shall fall victim to my evil photo taking (mwahahaa)
