Because some people really do pick at random. And the table for kids is the last table. And they always pick from the front tables.

Jeez louise.

On another note, have everybody heard the news about the horrific DC reboot?

Starfire, we hardly knew ye.

In other comic book news, be sure to check Von Allan's Stargazer and this awesome webcomic called Plume. I do love them so :D

I don't think the author of that article went overboard at all. She didn't object to the slutty outfits (chicks who read comics are used to those); just the fact that Starfire and Catwoman were characterized as bizarro, porn star versions of who they used to be. It's so over the top that most women can't even read those books without either laughing at how ridiculous it is or throwing the comics aside in disgust.

And the examples of men being sexualized are so few and far between that they really don't even count (who the hell even knows that Anita Blake comics EXIST?). Men in Superhero comics are drawn to look muscular because it makes them look powerful and it makes sense for a man who fights a lot to be buff. Women in superhero comics are drawn to look like skinny porn stars because it makes them easier for the target audience to masturbate to.

All characters are indeed drawn from the male view point since the majority of artists in the comic genre are men and draw what they think is the picture of what looks good for both male and female anatomy (Strength being key for men to aspire to be as the females are 'porn star' sexy... and yes to masturbate to since we as a human race are led by our loins 80% of the time whether we want to believe it or not) I honestly can say I haven't read those reboots to know how out of character either of the two are acting, and I can see her being upset if the personality changed dramatically. That I can be on board with 100% As for more sexualized men, I'm in perfect agreement, but for that to happen, there has to be a higher market for it :/

There's a pretty big market for it already. There's a reason webcomics like "Chester 5000" are so popular. It's just that the market has no faith in the mainstream comic industry, mostly because of issues like this. Hence why manga and webcomics seem to be getting all the female readership.

Unfortunately it takes time for progress, and the main stream is always behind in that race. Hell, we were just discussing that the Western hemisphere has progressed so far through civilization yet gay marriage is still so taboo? :/
