Because some people really do pick at random. And the table for kids is the last table. And they always pick from the front tables.

Jeez louise.

On another note, have everybody heard the news about the horrific DC reboot?

Starfire, we hardly knew ye.

In other comic book news, be sure to check Von Allan's Stargazer and this awesome webcomic called Plume. I do love them so :D

Goddesses

Because I was drawing this before I decided to concentrate on original work, I had to finish it. It's a fanart of Emily Carroll's characters. You can see them in the short comic visible here. Seriously. Read this. It's gorgeous and it's only 3 pages. I love how all the characters look like a mix of Celtic and Norse. And Anu-Anulan is an imaginary godess I can only adore because she turns into a CROW. Yes, it's THAT easy to make me happy folks. Truly. Her story really reads like an old fairy tale. I love it.

In other news, portfolio constructing is going well. A friend of mine suggested I should finish one of my short comics, "Jabberwocky" for the portfolio and the TCAF. And I just might. I just need to unblock on the story. I kinda hate how I have good themes and imagery, but then as soon as dialog comes in, I get really discouraged. I don't really have a talent for dialog. Stories, yeah. People talking, no. I guess everybody needs a weakness and that's why I usually get help from friends.

Jabberwocky is generally the story of a girl with a vengeful imaginary friend. I blocked a bit on how the friend should be and how the girl should be. Submissive? Agressive? Classical takeover? Destructive? It's a complicated story to plan out, especially with only 24 pages.

Tonight, i'm going to draw some more. I took the whole week to finish my drawings, work on Namesake, prepare the con stuff and just generally work. It's a busy and kinda antisocial week, but I think I needed the work boost. I'm getting a lot of crap done. FAST. Productive Isa! :D

A little Tangled fanart to start things off on a positive note!

First off, i,m so happy it's Friday. My god. Work has been insane for the whole week. I plan on pretty much drawing the full weekend. It sounds like so much fun :D

I'm also going to work on getting con stuff ready. I bought all the stuff I needed today after work. I still hate Omer Deserre (local craft store). They never have the stuff I need. And not in the "we don't carry it" sense. In the "we sold it all three weeks ago and didn't bother ordering more". I wanted to buy cardboard to make small postcard-size things to sketch on at the con. They didn't want to cut them for me, despite the whole paper cutting table being RIGHT THERE. So instead I bought small pieces so I could cut them myself with scissors. Gosh, I know the store isn't that bad, but jeez, every time I go, they never have what I need and the employees always act as if I was bothering them (I interrupted 3 employees talking at the cutting table to see if I could get something CUT and they were talking around it...). I'm not impressed Omer Deserre. Not impressed.

I ended up going to a book store to get most of what I needed.

I'm amused. Kate Beaton did a comic today about a historical personality I really love, Ada Lovelace. I LOOOVE HER. I've been reading a really good webcomic that is basically the "Girl Genius-ish" version of her life, 2D goggles. Actually, Beaton linked this comic below her own comic, which made me really happy. This comic needs more readers.

For those who don't know, Ada Lovelace is like, a mathematical tragedy. She's a countess, and the legitimate daughter of Lord Byron, aka a romantic poet who liked to put his penis in many, many people (he wrote Don Juan, if that's any indication). Her mom got angry at the sexy poet and pretty much forced Ada in mathematics. Ada was gifted, became extremly badass with numbers, worked with Charles Babbage, composed what was essentially the first computer program and died young of illness. 2D Goggles kinda plays with the idea that this woman's life is an ode to math and her enemies are poets. I love it.

Gosh, i'm such a geek. Love it though.

This Lj was created 5 years ago today (yeah, I created it on Halloween on purpose). That's 5 years of almost daily drawing posts. I,m really glad I have this. It's a great drawing motivator, gave the courage to start Namesake, and allowed me to meet amazing people whom I adore. GIVE ALL OF YOURSELVES BIG HUGS! I know i'm going to keep posting here for another long while.

In other news, i'm not doing anything for Halloween, aside from watching spooky and pretty movies. It's a bit sad, considering how much I adore Halloween and look forward to it every year. But such is life.

If I could have a pet crow, I would call it "Phylactery". Because it's an object used by a lich to contain its soul, but also because in French, this word is used to designate a talkbubble.

Happy birthday [livejournal.com profile] yamiloo ! Have some Nightingale sketches! I'm really looking forward to seeing this hero in action. remind me to make you a nice drawing when it's launched!

The Nightingale )

[livejournal.com profile] brendala , have you seen today's google banner? It features the Scoobies! I saved it here for you :

JINKIES!!! )

Finally, my good buddy Von (the male half of [livejournal.com profile] vonandmoggy ), has a new book out. You can read about said book and about ordering it here. I haven't read this one, but I've read his first book, "The road to god knows where" and found it very poignant. I have high hopes for the second. So help a comic artist out if you feel generous and want to read a great story!

So, a toast full of chocolate and good cheer to all my artsy, dedicated, and fun friends. Happy Halloween, thanks for reading, and stick around!

It only gets better from here.

If you ask me to visualize something, or someone, they usually dance in my head. I spend a lot of time sketching dancing too. I just don't show you guys because oh, the shame! My default  position for characters is dancing. It's like in video games. You know, when you pause for too long, sometimes the characters would wiggle or something. I don't know what to do with characters, so they dance in my head.

On another hand, dancing characters are hilarious. And fun to draw/animate. I'm pretty sure that's why all 3D animation films end with dance parties, nowadays.

And yes, I eat dumplings all the time. It's like a full meal wrapper in an edible wrapper. It's Amazing.

Link's Twin (which i'll probably call Twinny on here) now lives in our building, right next door to us. We helped him move this weekend. Link is very happy since his twin and him are ultimate BFFs. I also enjoy his company. Because Twinny is cool. And like this, it's like having a cool roomate, but being able to kick the roomate out of your space when needed.

Also, Bonus, NAMESAKE SKETCHES!

For some reason, I can't stop drawing Warrick and Alice... Who don't appear before chapter two... Aaaaargh. Chapter 1 is pretty much Emma's introduction. And the plot's introduction. Then there's Oz. :D Yeeepeee.

The Namesake pages are going well actually. As I mentioned before. I wanted to have 15 pages up on the website for the launch. And have a ten page "security blanket". So basically 25 pages drawn before the launch. Well, the first 15 are up. And 4 of the security pages are drawn. I hope to finish at least 4 more by next Monday. Going well. The launch date is so close.... I'm... I'm nervous AS HELL.

The first chapter is probably going to be something like 40 pages. so it will take 2 months to get to Oz. Webcomic time sucks. I wish I could post every day. Oh well. Maybe someday. We'll see.

Please don't eat me whole, internet!
