Now entering year 6...

This Lj was created 5 years ago today (yeah, I created it on Halloween on purpose). That's 5 years of almost daily drawing posts. I,m really glad I have this. It's a great drawing motivator, gave the courage to start Namesake, and allowed me to meet amazing people whom I adore. GIVE ALL OF YOURSELVES BIG HUGS! I know i'm going to keep posting here for another long while.
In other news, i'm not doing anything for Halloween, aside from watching spooky and pretty movies. It's a bit sad, considering how much I adore Halloween and look forward to it every year. But such is life.
If I could have a pet crow, I would call it "Phylactery". Because it's an object used by a lich to contain its soul, but also because in French, this word is used to designate a talkbubble.
Happy birthday

Finally, my good buddy Von (the male half of
So, a toast full of chocolate and good cheer to all my artsy, dedicated, and fun friends. Happy Halloween, thanks for reading, and stick around!
It only gets better from here.

Date: 2010-10-31 07:02 pm (UTC)Silly question, but how do you say/pronounce Phylactery in French? (You want to be a lich. Admit it! Admit it!!) I always thought the word sounded weird, but I'll spare you why so that you can save it for a future name. :D

P.S. Just curious, do Canadian kids Trick-or-Treat? Or is that just an American thing?

Date: 2010-11-01 04:14 pm (UTC)-Snow on Halloween (It was really cold yesterday!)
-The large majority of kids getting older in a specific part of the suburb, killing the tricking and treating for that part of the suburb and moving it to another part of it.
-Security locks on most apartment buildings.
I remember trick or treating and decorations being pretty epic when I was a kid, but nowadays, the place where my parents live is dead on Halloween (no pun intended). One of my friends lives in a newer suburb and she says it's pretty booming though. I guess the festivities just move where the youth is. Though, Halloween in the big city seems pretty boring! No big spooky parties or anything.
I do think halloween may be a more American thing, but it exists here. And I still love it. Might be more kid-oriented. As a child I always wondered where those big halloween parties on Buffy or Hocus Pocus were hosted around here.

Date: 2010-11-02 12:48 am (UTC)Thanks very much for the shout out about "Stargazer" - much, much appreciated. It's neat and very scary to have it out there and we'll see how the orders go. I'm not expecting it to sell like crazy, but I've got my fingers crossed that it'll do ok. Here's hoping!
Happy (belated) 5th anniversary, you!
