Because some people really do pick at random. And the table for kids is the last table. And they always pick from the front tables.

Jeez louise.

On another note, have everybody heard the news about the horrific DC reboot?

Starfire, we hardly knew ye.

In other comic book news, be sure to check Von Allan's Stargazer and this awesome webcomic called Plume. I do love them so :D

I've been hearing a lot about the Starfire debacle. It's pretty disgusting. The Boyfriend told me DC finally responded to the fans' outrage over the change in her character by saying basically, "Make sure you look at the ratings on comics before you buy them." Like all they're saying is, we acknowledge that her character is nothing but porn now, kids aren't allowed to have good comic role models, we're really not trying to make characters for any reason other than jerkoff material. Sad.

This. This sound you hear? It's my heart breaking.

Superheroes are fucking AWESOME. Why would someone try to turn mainstream ones into nothing but porn? We want role models! Not jerking jerk jerkyness.

I hear people complain sadly about how European comics and Manga are going to take over and comics are going to die. This is why. Bad writers.

They'll also die because the Japanese and European comic industries do one big thing that the current crop of American superhero comics refuse to do: respect female readers and try to give them something they can fall in love with.

Eeeh. The female respect isn't quite so big yet in manga and European mainstream, but you still have more female writers sneaking it in and people loving it, which is pretty awesome. It's still better then this though.
