For some reason, I keep drawing things to post, and then I forget to post them. Tsk. I have brain issues or something.

Link just scolded me because "I didn't post in a week". He's right! I used to be so diligent to post every 2 days or so. Must be fatigue catching up to me. Must try harder!

Tomorrow I start my work week again (I work Saturdays, Sundays, Mondays and Tuesdays). Gonna go put books on selves like a boss.

Yesterday, my parents visited. We went to see the "Indiana Jones" exhibit at the Montreal science Museum. It was cool. The exhibit was half movie props, half actual artifacts that influenced the stories and settings. It was really fun to do that with my family. Plus I got a t-shirt that says "It belongs in a museum!" thanks to my ever so generous father, so the geek in me is happy, educated and dressed. Eee. That was a good day. We also visited a medieval shop where my dad and me both got statues of "fat knights" (they are super round and cute) and we visited a ton of galleries with art that blew my mind! i,m always hesitant to enter those big expensive galleries to look at the art because I know I look like a poor, penniless art student. It felt good to go in as a group to gander at art. Now I just looked like a harmless tourist. *laughs*

Doctor Who fans, I have a print for you! Behold. I was trying to do a print with the 3 past doctors and the current companions surrounding the Tardis (and human tardis) in a pose inspired by the "Metropolis" movie poster (the Fritz Lang original). I think I did a good job.

Who speaks German?

That is all.

No wait.

PUPPIES.

Now i'm done.

So, this weekend I visited my parents and friends in Ottawa. I was asked to go with a few friends to a "Wedding show". Since the friend who was actually the bride already had a dress, the goal was to find dresses for the others, bridemaid-ish things, I suppose. We ended up not finding much, but it was still fun to walk around talking. To amuse the group, I was asked to try on a dress (since apparently, it's a must-do to these types of events). It was awkward. To try one on, you kinda have to lie to say you're a bride, and you guys know how talented I am at lying. So I was stuck in a tiny dressing room with a clerk who asked a crapload of questions about the hypothetical big day. That.... was weird. The dress itself was very beautiful. A corset with a big, poofy....poof thing under it. I was amused. Unfortunately, the gown suited me really well, which made the salespeople very pushy and enthusiastic and made one of the girls int he group tear up, which resulted into panic mode on my part, of course. Because I don't work nicely with a) lying, b) Pushy people and c) Crying people. Now that I think back on it, I kinda wish I didn't try it on at all. That was uncomfortable. I didn't really enjoy it. But it made the group happy. So I guess that's good.

This whole wedding show kinda confirmed my idea that I don't like traditional weddings. Not even a little.

That event done, I went back to my parent's house to celebrate my brother's birthday. There was a restaurant with steak and cocktails and chocolate cake. Mmmmh. On the next day, my taxes got done (thanks, dad and thanks, calculating program) and then I got home.

And then I drew and slept for a while. Tired.

The next week i'm going to mostly draw. I have a bit of social activities planned, but most people are quite busy, so it looks like I have a lot of free time for drawing ahead. I kinda want to hit a library for research pretty soon. Here in Montréal, we have the huge library of Québec. References out the wazoo.

My wisdom teeth still hurt massively. I really need to get these out of my face pronto.

I have so many pages to scan and photos to post, i'm at the point where i'm performing triage. I think I should just upload the whole thing and update a little everyday. I really think I should tweak my scanner's settings a bit and clean it's window, poor thing. It suffers under my rule.

So yeah, got a few projects done, and finished my last shift yesterday. Whew. I feel good about that. I've been feeling like i'm living in a bookfort lately. I'm reading far too many boring things. Now i'll hopefully have more straight drawing time  (aka 5 hours of it without interruptions! Yippeee!) and time to see friends.

I actually saw my friend tama the other day. Although she's not in the greatest moment of her life right now, she seemed well and it made me feel happy. She even mentionned picking up writting again. Me and Tama have plotted often in the past to create comic stories... Maybe she's got a few storyboards in stores for me!

At home (which is only metaphorically a bookfort), there's a big change a-coming : we are getting rid of our pool. See, we have a in-ground pool at my house. Here's a tip, when you buy a house, avoid those with in-ground pools. Round out-ground pools are easier to manage. In-ground pools...basically if you don't care for them almost everyday they crack and break and become disgusting. Due to my family's rather hectic schedule (and to the fact that me being gone to Toronto for two months didn't make me very available to swin & clean in the said pool) our pool cracked. Turns out it's cheaper to fill it and buy another then fix the in-ground pool. So yeah... Never buy a house with an in-ground pool. Unless you have a pool boy.

My parents emptied out the pool today. Tomorrow, people will come to fill it up. I poked my nose out of a book to go take a walk in my pool....

Aside from that, I finished my neverland cup. For the character of Wendy in my lost girl theme, I designed a "mother" cup that will contain a miniture of neveland "floating" on green tea. The set comes with a green tea pouch I designed. It's very cute I find:

Tea time! )

The cup is obviously a reference to Wendy's victorian setting. The mother word represents how she is a mother for peter but also how she leaves Neverland to be able to be a real mother. Neverland becomes some sort of escapism, lost in her usual routine (the 5'o clock tea).

Gah, all this thinking for lost girl projects makes me want to read Lost Girls by Alan Moore depicting the meeting of Wendy, Alice and Dorothy. Unfortunatly, the graphic novel, no matter how much of an important book is it for comic artists, also happen to be erotic. I've got no problem with the erotic part honestly. I own several borderline erotic graphic novels that I purchased because they were rose stones of graphic art. I mean, if everybody tells you you have to read something because it's part of comic history, you just do it. Besides, reading european comics made me quite used to graphic nudity and sexuality (the french are quite generous in that department). So, it's erotic. That's stil la problem though, because I can't buy it. It's 80$ and since it's erotic, it's impossible to find in a local librairy. To boot, i'd have to order on the web because the comic book shops here don't have to connections to order the book (because it's UK based) and/or can't order erotic materials because they are family oriented. Looks like I won't get to read that for a while. I don't think it's necessary for the evolution of this year's project, but it's definitly something that would have been interesting to check out.

I also rented out a million fairy tale movies and disneys to watch as I work. :)

I went to finally see stardust, the movie based on the novel by Neil Gaiman & Charles Vess, with my friends Fauve and[profile] isabiunleashed . It was really cool since I haven't seen Isabelle in a while. Fauve was stuck with an Isabelle Duo. Mwahahaha.

Before going to the movie, me and Fauve got some eel on rice that was delicious with miso soup. We then met up with other Isa to go get a pile of candy at sugar mountain. My bag of candy was the most expensive one. Darn jellybeans are the heaviest candies ever! But no matter, money well spent, despite the fact that i'm nearly broke... *laughs* hummmmmm sugar.

Stardust itself was beautiful. I recommend it to everyone, especially to Meg and Diane, because Diane loves the princess bride, and this movie is similar to it. Meg, you need to go because this movie is the type to put a smile on your face, and I know you need one of those right now. Beautiful fantasy, I love claire danes as Yvaine. She's got moxy. I love the scenes where her hair suddently shines. She's so pretty!

The movie adaptation was very good. They made the movie rather similar to princess bride in my opinion. It's impossible fantasy that seems very normal, death is treated almost with humor, and true love, of course. Totally princess bride atmosphere.

The movie was slightly more chick-flicky then the book. A few things got "movified" such as the ending, much more action packed and spectacular. But it's the medium that wants it, right? It was still pretty darn good.

I got a few pictures from my aunt of my little cousin's baptism... The reason I went to quebec city last week. The photos all look great. My mother wants to get a few of them printed. ^^

Babies! )

I was talking to Fauve the other day and we though there was a little of babies born this yeah. "It's almost an epidemic!" Fauve told me. Apparenlty all the woman minus her and her boss are pregnant at work. Maybe there's another mini-boom coming on?

Holy cripes, there's actual talent here!

This is picture my little brother did for a powerpoint presentation in class! Pretty good heh? I'm thinking something's running in ze family blood yes...

On completly unrelated note, I did some internet tests in class the other day out of boredom and I found the results pretty accurate:

Which slayers character are you? I got Zel and Sylphiel, which is not only too characters I like but also two I find myself similar to in several ways. I'm a bookworm-scolar like them both, i'm kinda always directed on a sole idea for awhile (cure or learning the dragu slave) and i'm shy. So why is my avatar a lina? Well, that's from a more sparky period of my personnality let's say. I've changed a bit. And I like lina.

Which sin/virtue are you? I got here charity for the virtue and pride for the sin. It's really true ^^;; I like to think of myself as charitable and i'm most certaintly very prideful (people who saw the results vouched for it)

Which fantastic character are you? A knight *grins*

Which fantastic creature are you? A griffon *grins some more*
