What I like is that I draw so much that even during weeks where I don't really have time to draw, I have this pile of not used drawings and jokes. Such as this one. Oh, poor Link. But hey, for almost every prank I pull on him he gets me back. A lot. So i'm really the victim here!

I feel bad for Link. He's going thru a bit of a rough time. I'm not the greatest at being uplifting and supportive (people say i'm too rational and analytical). But I still try! At least i'm full of loving! I just hope he gets better and that things go better for him soon.

I spent my evening cutting pages for Rose. For those of you who don't know, cutting is the first step to making pages (for me anyways). How I draw pages is like so:
  • Cutting (aka drawing of where I want the panels to be, the bubbles and the characters generally. Usually not detailled sketches of poses and expressions)
  • Detailing (filling in the blanks and changing some panels for better ones)
  • Cleanup (removing the extra crap to get nice line drawings)
  • Inking (UUURGH)
  • Wording (aka inking of WORDS)
  • Scanning
  • Photoshop cleanup (Aka i'm too lazy to re-ink this so i'm cheating. Mwahahaha)
  • Coloring (if required)
I usually do the cutting half-way of the story/chapter (aka I cut 20 pages on 40 in the case of Rose), then finish that half up to inking, and then cut the other half and ink it. So i'm pretty much half-way finished with Rose. Minus the cleanup and extra drawings and stuff. Still. BOOYAH!

Other Booyah worthy statement - Futurama is returning. Oh yes. New seasons. On television. Oh, Glee!

I also bring you fanart that I drew during my lunch break. Behold - some Princess Tutu and some Avatar. I wanted to draw Genderswitch slayers too, but I guess inspiration didn't strike.

Chibi-tar! I love Toph. She's my favorite.

Yup, some Kataang. I like drawing Katara's hair almost as much as Lina. Aang is bald. Yet, I still like to draw him, despite him lacking the fluff to fill my hair-drawing obsession. But I seem to like baldies (KOFF KOFF Krillin KOFF Bruce Willis KOFF)

Sketches for the Princess Tutu Doujinshi i'll do some day maybe 3 days after I'm done being busy (never never land pacific time).

The Doujinshi is called Kapitel des Fluges (Chapter of Flight). I calle dit that way because i'm so bloody original and I wanted to do a wannabe season 3 myself (the season 3 all tutu fans wanted but never got). I chose flight as a title (most people call the fictional third season Chapter of swan) since the first two seasons are Egg and Fledging. Flight implies someone leaves the nest. Both Fakir and Ahiru are going to leave their nests in this story. I'm going to have a few classic season 3 fanfiction elements in there (such as Fakir seeking to return Ahiru to a human form and the exchange of their hearts) but also a few unexpected events and a lot of crazy fairy tale references.

I LJ cut stuff now. You lucky you.

That's all for now folks! I'm going to bed. Tomorrow is going to be a crazy work day. Urgh. Also, I have to go see my family in the evening. I wonder what the heck my brothers are doing. My younger bro is going on a road trip and he wants me to find my old walkman tapes so he and his friends can have music on the trip (the car they are taking with them has a radio dating from last century, hence the tapes.) This makes me feel OOOOLD.

I'd like to see photos of your process!

Me, i'm low tech. I do everything by hand - minus the photoshot cleanup. In my defense, I was never trained to do illustration or comic work. All self-taught baby! *grins*

I graduated college with a BA in drawing, but all my graphics tech knowledge was learned on the job. I'm missing a lot of little tips and tricks (like how to present a good portfolio). Even a good education can fail you sometimes, and probably the best lesson is about how to learn on your own!

I really don't think my process is all that different than yours or any other cartoonist, except that I'm using the big printer on the enormous paper!

Anyway, here's my dad's printer:

Here's what my pencils often look like (though on smaller paper):

Here's a video clip of me inking part of a comic:

http://www.ustream.tv/recorded/1627427

The sound kind of sucks, you have to turn it all the way up. Also, it only shows you a little bit of my inking. Later clips may show more, it was a bad day. Oh, but hey, if you see me doing something there that could be improved, please let me know! I'm all about other people's tips and tricks. The main point of looking at the video, of course, is to see the scale of the paper (16" by 20").

And here's a screenshot of my coloring process:

I actually have a couple coloring processes, depending on the comic and how fast I want to get it done. It's Easy just gets the paint bucket treatment, where-as Harmless Free Radicals gets the lasso and airbrush, and multiple layers including textured scans and shading.

I know I have a better set of images than this, but I'm not sure where they are.
