But not linked to the holidays!

I finished coloring the cover for Namesake's 3rd chapter that should start during the holidays. I kinda wish I had more free time to draw during the holidays, but I just have 2 days off :( So i'll be working while many of the people I know party. Party for my, you guys!
Cover's lineart can be seen here. THIS took 3 hours to ink.
This cover Shows the princess of Oz, Ozma and the Wicked Warlock of the West, Warrick. There's also skulls. The skulls are there because the upcoming Oz storyline kinda plays with how inconsistent death was in the Oz books. Sometimes people died, sometimes not, sometimes you had to literally obliterate someone for them to be considered dead. In the later Oz books, no one can die. One of the books assures us that while you are in the Land of Oz, you can not die. Unfortunately, this information comes after characters in the books have been chopped into pieces, beheaded, melted, and so forth and it is mentioned that you could be transformed into an inanimate object, turned into sand, and buried. Even so, you would still be alive and presumably conscious.
Baum puts it this way in the third chapter of The Emerald City of Oz: "No disease of any sort was ever known among the Ozites, and so no one ever died unless he met with an accident that prevented him from living." It's also mentionned that what keeps the people alive and not aging is a spell. So we are going to play with that in the story.
Really, I just want an excuse to draw skulls :D
Oh, man, I am so broke right now.
I went to the eye-doctor. Turns out, my glasses were not giving me a headache because my eyesight went down. No, it improved. The lens' were TOO STRONG. Thus causing constant headaches. So, since I needed to change the lenses anyways, I bought a new frame to replace the frame I hate. That poked a nice hole in my savings, lemme tell you that. I think i'm going to cut back on spending for a bit, you know, so I can pay for glasses/doctor bills/dentist/christmas stuff. Oh well. I never though not having insurances would be so expensive, but I guess it is! *laughs*

Date: 2010-12-19 09:20 pm (UTC)This could go into freaky territory pretty quick. And it does. Even in canon.

Date: 2010-12-19 11:47 pm (UTC)For glasses, have you ever looked at Zenni Optical?
Several of my friends here in Tucson use them and love them. Glasses start at about $8.
The downside, no glass lenses. ^^;;

Date: 2010-12-20 02:18 pm (UTC)I get all the "cheap glasses! Wee" rage, but I really like to test out glasses. And so far, the glasses I purchased in stores seem to be more solid then the ones my friends have bought online.

But, if i'm going to choose change, I prefer it be towards improvement! :D

Date: 2010-12-20 09:59 am (UTC)I had actually never touched the books until I started reading Namesake. I think I'm hooked! (On both the comic, and on the Oz books.)

Date: 2010-12-20 10:26 am (UTC)Interesting tid bits on Oz. I honestly didn't know it was a book series.
Awesome to hear your sight is improving! How does that happen? Either way, aces for you! Gives a good reason to buy new frames as well ;) It seems like everyone around me including myself is strapped for cash these days.
How is your one friend doing these days? Is she coping okay?

Date: 2010-12-20 04:26 pm (UTC)I'm just commenting so you will know that as soon as I saw this picture, I said OZMAA!!
I didn't read very many of the Oz books, only three or four, but I still have a distinct memory of Ozma being pretty badass - despite having probably the strangest backstory of all time.
Your Oz-related storyline sounds intriguing!

It's a fast read. And it updates a lot. :D
I'll be glad to hear your opinion on it :D

Yeah, I heard about the whole, 'Not Dying' aspect of Oz. Kinda creepy when you think about it, especially if you're unfortunate enough to be rendered immobile some way or another.
Well, it's good you got (or are getting) new glasses so your head doesn't hurt anymore.
