Don't you just love when people create something and it kinda just gets away from them and turns massive?

I do! I do!

So did anybody else knew about these Gaang jr (avatar children) fandom?
I haven't been amused so much by fandom since the Hatter-Alice comics.

Fandom, you never stop to amuse.

You so crazy.

Oh God, not the Gaang Jr. thing.

Avatar fandom is lulzy.

I kinda like the character designs actually. I don't know how the fandom about this is going, but the wiki is pretty entertaining. This kinda is a fan's answer to what happens when you mix nations together - random various bending!

I have doubts because it's next generation and those are very rarely done. When I go looking for avatarfic, I don't want to read about their children's adventures, I want to know about the oc's adventures. Unless I want to see them as parents, which occasionally I do.

The thing that bugs me about writting about the kids of characters that fall in love when they ARE kids is that...well, is it realistic to assume that characters will stay together for the rest of their lives? But I guess people in the avatarverse would marry early.

I was poking this fun idea a friend of mine proposed. She wanted to write this fanfiction where the gaang goes on a new quest - to find Airbenders. Or at least to find a way to create new airbenders (with Sokka making jokes about knowing an easy way to create some). The FN could not eradicate all Airbenders, so there must be a few in hiding, or not using their powers.

Yeah, that is one of my nitpicks with Avatar. I mean, how often does someone find their true love when they're 12-13? A childhood crush that carries on until adulthood, sure, I can buy that, but for dating that long? But as you said, maybe they would just marry earlier in the Avatar universe, so it would explain that.

On that note, that's been my theory on the air benders for awhile. I can't believe that Aang is truly the last one left and they would need more airbenders to truly restore balance anyway.

It kinda reminds me of ecosystems. You know, when there is too much death for one race, often another animal mutates to fill in that role. Their world needs airbenders to insure the avatar cycle. So at some point, airbenders would pop up elsewhere. For example, a family in the earth kingdom gives birth to a child that happens to be an airbender, Even if there is no airbender blood in their family, simply because the *ecosystem* is threatened. Of maybe a family with a minimal blood link to the airbenders (aka my great great great grandpa) would suddently find these powers, that never manifested before, to appear in their child.

I'm pretty sure that they would marry early. It just seems like the accepted thing to do. (Besides, how old does Sokka's dad look? I don't think he looks old enough to have a 16 year old by our modern standards.)

This sounds like a discussion that was all over [livejournal.com profile] avatar_fans several months ago. Either that, or it was TVTropes, I'm not sure. It's hard to kill an entire race and not miss people. I've also read somewhere, that the reason Toph can metalbend is not because she kicks ass, but, in order to restore balance, the world is creating alternate benders to make up for the loss of all the airbenders, such as metal and possibly wood. That I KNOW I read on TVTropes, but it's a theory.

That fanfic could be fun. I'd read it. ^_~ It sounds like a clever idea and who's to say if it's wrong or not.

Bri-chan on deviant art is an ex disney park worker who had good relations with the face characters. One of the face characters is the mad hatter, but in the disney parks, he is a much cuter, taller and funny character. She started drawing stories about an adult Alice dealing with the Hatter's pretty insane affections. It's crazy cute. you can read it all here http://www.livejournal.com/tools/memories.bml?user=curiousinsane&keyword=When+Curiosity+Met+Insanity+Chapters&filter=all

What is it about Alice that attracts men so much older than her, anyway?

Don't look at me, I've got a crush on Dorothy Gale. *ahem* Who's about the same age as Alice, I'd guess. In all seriousness, I suppose boys who love to read would crush on a famous literary character who's also been illustrated a lot, such as Alice, Dorothy, or Wendy Darling. And hey, first crush is first crush -- especially since most guys carry a little part inside them that insists, for the rest of their lives, that they're no older than teenagers.

Hahahahaha.

Those characters are awesome though. So adventurous and poetic! Little girls want them as best friends (or also have crushes)

Absolutely -- they're smart, ready for adventure (well, and pretty, of course) -- any kid would think it fun to hang out with them.

Alice was seven during the events of the two books. Dorothy might well have been that young when she first came to Oz, but was apparently around ten or eleven when she moved there.

I'm assuming Alice has been aged for the purposes of this Alice/Hatter pairing -- she certainly looks older, from the illustrations I've seen. I didn't realize her age was specified in the books -- it's been a long time since I've read them. I have to say, I like the idea of Alice and Dorothy being the same age, as if they could just run around on adventures together as peers -- maybe Alice a few years after the events of Wonderland.

From: [identity profile] vovat.livejournal.com
Well, if Alice aged normally after her books, she would have been significantly older than Dorothy, considering when they were written. I'm sure there are ways for a sufficiently creative person to get around that, though.

The Toph entry really amused me too. I can imagine her being picked to bring the kids back and torturing a poor firenation officer. Hell, Sokka's gone, she gotta throw her lines at someone.

I can't remember, but did I ever give you a link to the Avatar puppets?

Ya know, I'd seen pictures of those characters and I knew they were somehow related to Avatar, but I didn't know just how. Thanks for clearing that up for me.

Personally, I've always found the Hatter/Alice stuff to be... odd. How did this pairing come about?
