Have old gender roles changed thanks to feminism into a new set of ideological ground rules. Sometimes I look at the world and think that men have been more freed by feminism then women. Heck, now that women have an equal economical, political and moral power to men's, women have gained both freedom and responsibility, offering to men and equivalent amount of freedom and new responsibilities that allows them to string women around and vice-versa.
This ideoligical debate brought to you by Hilary Clinton and by how stupidly tired I am of hearing about her and her politics on CANADIAN TELEVISION. I mean, do we need to follow EVERYTHING she does? We're bloody canadians. A weekly review would suffice. Oh well...Not that I have anything against her. I actually admire her for trying to be president. Heck, despite feminism, USA politics is still a money-driven sausage fest where the ruling majority is mostly elected thanks to evangelists. Gotta want it to get into it.
I actually admired Frank Baum. His wife and her mother were big names from the femenist front and he embraced their ideals by putting several women in positions of power in the Oz books, which was pretty rare in American litterature at the time. Lewis Carroll had a queen, but he also lived in a queendom at the time. Baum was pretty brave and supportive of his wife. I also think it's so cute how him and his wife shared a really strong affection (Baum would write to her love letters almost every week until he died.) When Baum died, His wife said "What do I have left?" Ah, so adorable.
Speaking of Oz, I was anable to find any pencil to draw with today, so I used my green drawing pencil and sketched out my Wicked Warlock. I'd really like to get back on the Oziad soon. I took a huge break, thanks to school. I'm also considering making a more serious story out of it. Something like a web comic. Of course, i'd have to change all the copŷrighted characters (at least those still under copyright like Lina. Oz itself is public domain).
So I practiced the Wicked Warlock's expression, and other characters too. I really love drawing expressions. So fun.
A lot of people tell me my characters look like people I know. I like starting characters from people I know. It's a great jump point. I find it easier then starting a character from scratch. Even when I start from people I love, my character always ends up having his own persona...
