It's considered psycho or desperate.
Have old gender roles changed thanks to feminism into a new set of ideological ground rules. Sometimes I look at the world and think that men have been more freed by feminism then women. Heck, now that women have an equal economical, political and moral power to men's, women have gained both freedom and responsibility, offering to men and equivalent amount of freedom and new responsibilities that allows them to string women around and vice-versa.
This ideoligical debate brought to you by Hilary Clinton and by how stupidly tired I am of hearing about her and her politics on CANADIAN TELEVISION. I mean, do we need to follow EVERYTHING she does? We're bloody canadians. A weekly review would suffice. Oh well...Not that I have anything against her. I actually admire her for trying to be president. Heck, despite feminism, USA politics is still a money-driven sausage fest where the ruling majority is mostly elected thanks to evangelists. Gotta want it to get into it.
I actually admired Frank Baum. His wife and her mother were big names from the femenist front and he embraced their ideals by putting several women in positions of power in the Oz books, which was pretty rare in American litterature at the time. Lewis Carroll had a queen, but he also lived in a queendom at the time. Baum was pretty brave and supportive of his wife. I also think it's so cute how him and his wife shared a really strong affection (Baum would write to her love letters almost every week until he died.) When Baum died, His wife said "What do I have left?" Ah, so adorable.
Speaking of Oz, I was anable to find any pencil to draw with today, so I used my green drawing pencil and sketched out my Wicked Warlock. I'd really like to get back on the Oziad soon. I took a huge break, thanks to school. I'm also considering making a more serious story out of it. Something like a web comic. Of course, i'd have to change all the copÅ·righted characters (at least those still under copyright like Lina. Oz itself is public domain).
So I practiced the Wicked Warlock's expression, and other characters too. I really love drawing expressions. So fun.

A lot of people tell me my characters look like people I know. I like starting characters from people I know. It's a great jump point. I find it easier then starting a character from scratch. Even when I start from people I love, my character always ends up having his own persona...
Love the bambi eyes.

Is not tired of the election all ready, oh no
Date: 2008-03-31 01:20 am (UTC)I'm very excited for this project. ^_^ Have you had a chance to pick up "Abarat" yet? Though I know the project is different than originally talked about, still a FABULOUS read.

Date: 2008-03-31 01:43 am (UTC)I didn't pick up Abarat, but I barely have time to read anywho. It's on my summer reading list along with re-reading all of Oz. :)

Date: 2008-03-31 01:32 am (UTC)And I'm so sorry you have to keep hearing about Hillary Clinton. I'm so ready for the stupid primaries to be over so I can see who the heck is left, and even worth voting for. I hate how people have to drag in the race and gender thing, and the Evangelical thing is so true, which is so sad. (Mormons apparently don't count, since Mitt Romney was pretty much shot down by Evangelical voters. Thanks a lot, guys!) Separation of church and state means nothing to these people...
Darn your sketches! They always make me want to sew or something. I love the "It's flawless!" expression. I see you're having fun making noses more pronounced, which is also good. As liberating as the anime style can be in many ways, noses just aren't given much presence at all (unless you watch Evangelion, but those noses just went insanely long). Odd but true, I used to draw my cats in a more anime style, but I missed the noses, so I've been trying to work back into my old style of drawing.
And pencils... I actually wanted to draw today, but then I realized I left my drawing pencil in my apartment, and all I had with me was...a purple pen. Much as I like drawing in pen, I was more in a sketching mood, so it irritated me to no end. They need to invent a pencil that can be carried around in a pocket that won't try to stab you through the side as you go about other activities. XP

Date: 2008-03-31 01:46 am (UTC)I wanted the wicked warlock to have a really pointy nose, similar to the one of the wicked witch in the MGM movie, since she's his great grandmum. Talk about a weird family.

Date: 2008-03-31 02:15 am (UTC)Seriously, if I didn't like my home state so much, I'd be tempted to move to Canada. I really do like it up there a lot. (Did you hear some people want to make Canada, the U.S., and Mexico one huge country? Kind of crazy, but I keep hearing about it, so it makes me wonder what the big wigs are plotting.)
I like the pointy nose, it's a nice touch. And I see the response you made to

Actually, on that note, he also reccently directed a movie that's suppose to be coming out soon:

Anyway, personally, I think the idea of all three countries joining up is rather scary. I think we would drive each other crazy if we were all in one country. @_@

Date: 2008-03-31 03:52 pm (UTC)On the other hand, you would have a lot of people most likely resentful for being joined together with "those people" to the north and south, a national currency and government would have to be agreed upon to make everyone happy, and no doubt the economy would fluctuate like crazy.
Personally, I think it would be nice for all of North America to be united as a whole, instead of all the petty fighting we have going on right now. The way the world seems to be going right now, I'd be all for gaining more stability, and finding a way to put an end to the immigration issue we're trying to sort out right now. (Seriously, building a fence is the stupidest idea I've ever heard. People are quite skilled at climbing over or digging under, no matter how often you guard it.)
I wish I could watch that special. I think it would be interesting to see!

Date: 2008-03-31 01:52 am (UTC)I'm so sick of the general media boiling this down to a woman vs. a black man. All of these comments about race just make me turn off the TV and do anything but focus on the election. I can understand why it's on Canadian TV, because unfortunately the election of our president also affects politics and relationships going on in other countries like yours. I just want it to be over with. It's not even April yet, for pete's sake.
I loved your stories about Baum. I did a lot of research into Lewis Carroll recently and how so many think he was a pedophile in love with the real Alice. It doesn't come across that way to me. There's nothing that says you can't love children and still be a normal adult.

Lame gossip-news.
