I don't really know why, but after about an hour of reorganizing my songs (it's an ongoing project I gave myself about a year ago where I individually classify all 3500 of my songs in about 12 different playlist), I found myself with a strong yearning to color one of Secondlinas’ drawing. Since I had the time and that I'm always trying to get myself to do more art, I just went right at it. I also gave myself the challenge of seeing how fast I could do a decent job at coloring the drawing.

It ended up taking me about 2 hours of intensive coloring, but I think it turned out pretty good.

And this is another of my “spontaneous wanting to color phase” drawing. The drawing is made by Sebastian Lunow, who’s like a god at drawing. And the scan just screamed to be colored.

I can’t remember how long it took me to make it and I still have to finish the staff, but I figured that a single drawing isn’t enough for a post on Secondlinas Lj,

So I decided to add it for shits and giggles, (ps: I always found that to be a funny expression).

Anyways, enjoy.

They definitely came out very nice! I would spend more time on the coloring, but I can only do so much on the computer before my wrist screams, "Foul!" Did you use a tablet or anything, or is that all with a mouse?

I echo Diane's questions. Wow! What sort of coloring techniques do you use in Photoshop?

Glad you like the drawings

I did it using a my brothers pen tablet. (I love the fact that he decided to get one. Very handy to have around)

And the main techninque I used was:
1: putting isa's sketch on a separate first layer with the multiply setting.

2: The use of 25 different other layers for coloring
- First level, primary color of parts (shirt/purple, pants/grayish light blue, skin/beigish white, work creatures/purplish light gray, etc), one layer per part.
- Second level, adding 1 to 3 levels of shadows to parts, one or more layer per part.
- Third level, adding 1 or sometimes more, levels of highlight to shinny parts (Hair, skin, metalique objects), one layer per part is usually enought.

and your done.

Try it yourself, it works great for simplistic drawings.

Thanks! I've heard of it before, but haven't really experimented with it that much. I do now have a pen tablet, I bought one last month. I'll definitely have to mess around with it using some manga I have scanned in.

Always nice to hear from the rat-tail-ed one.

Nice color job! Professional quality, I must say!

3500 songs! Whoa! I only have about 400... *is lame*

Assuming my life wasn't "all work and no play", I wish I was better at using PhotoShop.
I think I should get a book or something.

Nice job on the colouring Link.
