Someone asked me who my favorite couples were. I'm not a huge fan of couples, I prefer liking characters on their own or duos that are funny and work great together without necessarly being in love.
Some of these are pretty canon, others are fanon, and some are just plain weird. Oddly enough, this does not even cover half of what i've read (I forgot Garulfo, Naruto and so many others aaaaah!) But it's still pretty representative of the couples I do like.

I,m a huge fan of the kenshin series, yet no couple in there really strikes my fancy. I like Kenshin and Kaoru enought I guess, but not really on a level that makes me go "ZOMG OTP!" I like how the story goes and the characters interact in general.

On another weird level, i'm a huge fan of female ranma and I think it sucks that she is not a "real" character. The only couple I love in Ranma (despite how incredibly fandom oriented that series is) is Mousse and Champoo. Mousse is the only character I think is really likeable. He's the only one with morals! Everybody else is twisted in some way. I was reading some of my old ranma books last week and I realised this series as the most flawed characters i've ever seen! (and what flaws!)

I also think Nuriko from Fushigi Yuugi should have STAYED a girl because a girl with superhuman strenght would have been cooler then ANOTHER crossdresser. Not to mention using her in another coupling would have taking a bit of the story off Miaka and Tamaome and saved the plot a bit. And yes, i'm aware there is such a thing as gay relantionships, but Yuu Watase can't write those out worth a damn.

Other then that, did anybody ever see the OAV's of master of mosquiton? It's awesome anime. The tv series kinda sucks, but the OAV's are great. I wonder why this series is so little known...

I love Shampoo, and female Ranma. *.* Oh, Kasumi, too, she isn't so twisted like the others. :/

Nuriko's like my favorite character from Fushigi Yuugi, and yes, I also wish he had stayed a female. Was disappointed when I found out she was just another cross-dresser, but he stayed as my favorite, anyway.

I remember watching like, one or two episodes of Master of Mosquiton in high school anime club YEARS ago. No idea if it was the TV or OAV, and I never found it in stores or at conventions....

Kasumi is TOO perfect. Among this cast of misfits, she looks like a big unuseful doll. I think Kasumi had a better personality in the anime, and at the beggining of the manga (what DID happen to that doctor that liked her? He just disapeared!)

Master of Mosquiton is badly treated anime. The Tv series is terrible though. Try to find the OAv on the net or something : worth it!

She is too perfect, I agree on this. Actually, she has more personality in the manga, too, as it goes further than the anime. I love the chapters where everyone thinks she gets mad and when she gets possessed by a demon. lol

I have no idea. Dr. Tofu, who was the family physician, just disappears, which is rather disappointing, I liked his personality, too. He always went crazy every time Kasumi was around, not that I blame him, she is a looker. ;)

I love Kikuko Inoue.

Oooh, another Shampoo fan! Seriously she was the only reason I really got into the show.
Another Harry/Luna fan! Woot.
Yeah, sometimes odd pairings are just fun for the heck of it. :-)

harry/luna = Happy isa.

I can't wait to see her in the next movie. I think the girl they picked for her is cute! ^^

I can't wait for the seventh book too *angst*

Oh, the Evanna girl is absolutely adorable. I can't wait to see the movie. I know I'm just going to love her.

I'm anxious for the seventh book too, but I just hope it's written a bit better than the last one. I was disappointed just a bit with her writing, but I think she'll tie everything together with the last one.

Have you ever done any Harry Potter art? I'd love to see your rendition of the characters.

Oh, I have drawn some harry potter fanart. It's quite old though, and a friend has most of it, since I drew it for her.

My most recent fanart mainly consists of jokes about how Fanfic artists match hermione with every single breathing male thing in the books.

I wish Rowling would just make her kiss Ron already so we can stop having hermione/severus or hermione/lupin or hermione/dog sirius (I swear to god I saw this one somewhere) fanfics.

Haha that's very true. Poor Hermione. She always gets paired with so many people. I think Draco is like that too. XD

I'm a romantic at heart, which is why I do enjoy looking for pairings in the romantic sense. But, with my absolute favorite pairing (duh, Lina/Gourry), they start off as friends and I loved the interaction they have as friends before attraction even entered the picture. There's not too many other pairings where if you stripped away the romance, they would still be extremely close as friends.

Kenshin/Kaoru was the first anime pairing where I simply sat, stared at the TV and went, "OTP!" Of course, this was before I knew what an OTP was. When I saw the Jin'eh episodes of the anime, my jaw fell and I knew they would wind up together and it would work and I'd be a very happy person. The other hinted at couples in the series - Aoshi/Misao and Sano/Megumi - doesn't really do it for me. I actually would switch them around and have Aoshi/Megumi and Misao/Sano. I once read a Misao/Sano fic that was absolutely wonderful.

My first anime couple was Usagi/Mamoru from Sailormoon, but now I'm not a fan of them anymore than much because after being exposed to more anime I feel Mamoru is a big jerk and that they're together because of their so-called destiny.

Now with Bleach, it's becoming a series where I wouldn't care what person went with each other, I'd be extremely happy with the end result. I'm enjoying the character interaction more than anything, although I'm thinking that Ishida and Orihime together is all sorts of cute and I am now a big Ishida fan. "You threaten to kill Orihime. Prepare to die."

If a couple has been firmly established in the fandom, I will write strictly to canon. If it's not firmly established, then I will use canon-based events as a base for writing the deviant story.

Here are the couples that I enjoy: Lina/Gourry, Amelia/Zel (Slayers); Inuyasha/Kagome, Inuyasha/Kikyou, Miroku/Kagome (Inuyasha), Kenshin/Kaoru, Kenshin/Tomoe, Misao/Sano, Aoshi/Megumi, Hiko/himself (Rurouni Kenshin), Harry/Ginny, Ron/Hermione (Harry Potter), Ichigo/Orihime, Ichigo/Rukia, Rukia/Renji, Ishida/Orhime, Chad/Karin when she's older (Bleach), Snow/Bigby (Fables), Eve/Roarke, Peabody/McNabb, Mira/Dennis (In Death), Kyoko/Yusaku (Maison Ikkoku), Ranma/Akane, Ryouga/Ukyou, Kuno/Tree (Ranma), Sophie/Howl, Howl/Howl's Hair (Howl's Moving Castle), etc.

And then, I can't neglect to mention my favorite OTP of all: Zel/Toaster!!!!1

And my OT3: Sakabatou/Tessaiga/Sword of Light. <3

Mamoru is a jerk in the tv series, i'm not too sure why. He's cool in the manga though, even if he does not do much.
I was getting that weird "I'm just with her for the heck of destiny" vibe myself, I did not like that.

Ishida. Is. Cool! *grins*

I think it sucks for Orihime, but I think Ichigo might just finish up with Rukia just for the hell of it ^^;; But Ichigo and Rukia are cute! ^^

You read fables! You love Snow and Bigby! I officially declare you rock! ^^

Like DQBunny, I'm a romantic and I tend to like couples too. However, there have been anime series in which I am more interested in the characters and the interaction between them. School Rumble is a good example of this.

It's an anime/manga romance and comedy series. There are so many hintings at so many couples in that series, well..... it's probably just as long as your list (and this including all of the love triangles as well.)

Anyway, for couples, I found when I was younger I only supported the canon couples. However, now I find I'm much more opended mined to fanon couples. I think it's because of Avatar: The Last Airbender, since I can't help but love Zuko/Katara and that's pretty much fanon right now. I guess I just go with couples that I feel have a good chemistry with the characters.

By the way, I also love Fone Bone/Thorn! It's just too cute! ^_^

I saw the box set for Avatar today, I almost wanted to buy just to see what all you hype was about XD

It's kinda expensive. I'll most likely buy it a bit later. See what monster you have created? XD

Bone is an awesome comic. I love how the Fone Bone/Thorn relantionship actually evolves! It's awesome! They did not kill off the relantionship or let it stay humoristic because Fone Bone is a weird thing! Jeff smith is my god.

Avatar is a good a good series. There's such good plot and character deveolpment, plus it has a nice mixture of humour and being serious. Since Slayers was like that, I do think you would like it.

I can understand why you don't want buy the DVD set. I normally don't buy things unless I at least watch some of it first. However, all of the Avatar episodes have been upload up to www.youtube.com

Personlly, I have a love/hate relationship with that site (it doesn't always want to work with my computer), but it might be a good way for you to get a taste of the series.

In fact, to save you the trouble of finding the first episode...
Episode one part one
Part 2
Part 3
part 4
part 5

I hope the links work...^_^;

I've only started reading the Bone series recently. They'be been releaseing coloured version of the comic and it's awesome! Jeff Smith rocks!

I prefer characters to couplings myself. I can't really think of any one couple that has to exist as a couple for me to like either character. (Heck, video games are my main love, and most of the characters are lone heroes, not having an intended other.)

...heroes sometimes have girlfriends. She usually gets kidnapped a lot. Someone should mention female anticipation to game designers...I think that's why there's always a second female character that kicks ass.

I KNOW!!

Picture super strong Female Nuriko deciding Hotohori sucks and going for tasuki.

That could have saved a lot of the damn plot!

Yuu Watase is weird. She makes a bunch of love triangles and yet she seems completly inapt at managing two main couples.

Imadoki is a series where you've got this couple on the sidelines distracting a bit. It's a good idea. Do it more!
