So... the phone lines have been down since Thursday (and still are). Apparently, we have a bad signal. A technician is suppose to show up to fix it today. It does explain why no one called and why the internet has been unpleasant. This weekend, I worked my first shifts at the bookstore. It was good. The first day started off strangely.

I google mapped a way to get to work quickly - walk 15 minutes to a specific bus stop and then take the bus for 15, directly. I figured that was efficient. Although, despite the information, I got quite lost. I walked back home and checked maps. Turns out, I was in the right spot and thought I was lost because the street name changes. Nice. It was officially too late to try the short route again, or the long route (bus then subway then bus). So I called a cab. It sucks and it's expensive, but you can't be late on day one. The taxi circled around the block 5 times before stopping and picking me up. The ride was kinda awful (smelly, smelly taxi) and when I finally reached my destination, I stepped in roadkill pigeon. Brilliant.

Basically, that first morning felt like one of those dreams where you keep trying to reach a goal but you can never really get to it.

Thankfully the rest of the day went well and the second day too. I don't know if it's because i'm used to much more complicated jobs, but this seems really easy. I was doing well on my own after a couple of hours. For those of you who wonder, at my new job, i'm a part time "comic librarian". I take care of the collection and  the clients for the comic section. Oddly enough, this bookstore needs comic specialists because they sell a lot to school and public libraries. So it's cool.

I'm not used to standing around all day anymore. After the second day, I was limping again. Oh limp. I did not miss you.

Enough of that! DRAWINGS NOW :

I really love that simplistic style. I should do some colored art like that.

I,ve been working more and more on sketches for the beast girl character. The project is slowly solidifying. It's going to be awesome :D

That's the trouble with any map service: it doesn't always have updated information! They've been improving and adding to a lot of the roads out where I live, so it amuses me to watch my GPS showing me driving into nowhere, when there is obviously a road. But, you know the route now, right?

(And blech! Poor pigeon. I've come across all degrees of dead animals when I walk, so I'm always wary of anything in my path. It's probably entertaining to watch me weave about, but I'd prefer to avoid stepping on a mere squashed cardboard box than step onto a poor dead animal. I hope your shoes were easy to clean.)

I seriously want to add a sports jersey onto the beast girl in that one doodle. Give her a hoop and a basketball, and away she goes shooting baskets! ^_- Although WARNING, having her fangs jut upward resembles a certain other beast's teeth too much, something I was trying to avoid.

....oh, I guess... I was basing her fangs on the indonesian masks that first inspired her design, so I wasn't even thinking about that.... Hummm. Might be something to alter.

Oh, you don't have to change it if you don't want to, but it is something to consider. (Personally, the greater distance you can put between this project and that existing franchise(?), the better.)

I still think given her ears and horns, it would be cool to base her fangs on a Muntjac (or, as I call them, "Fanged deer"). They even exist in Indonesia. How's that for coolness points? ^_-

Also, I came across this ugly mug. Having more pronounced upper canines makes more sense to me anyway, since the lower fangs on animals usually tuck up into the upper jaw, as opposed to jutting out and away from the mouth like the upper fangs.

Just my two cents, as always.
