First off, Happy St-Patrick's day to all! It's a good day to dance to jaunty music. Or drink booze. Whichever Irish stereotype you prefer, really.

Good god. I need so much sleep. But Jabberwocky is almost over. I plan on finishing the pages and illustrations on Sunday. Then all that will be left to do during the upcoming week will be touch-ups, wording and the cover. Oh my god. I actually did this. I will actually have managed to compete a full comic in a month. Jeez louise. I honestly never ever want such a crazy deadline ever again.

Link is going to be shading my namesake pages for the next two weeks. He's so sweet. Check out today's page if you want to see his handywork.

I'm currently pondering some ideas. At home, I have several fabric bracelets kinda like these :

Mine have monsters and robots and dinosaurs on them (you know why). Well, just yesterday, I found this website where you can print your own fabric and then buy it by the yard. So I though "These fabric bracelets of mine are really cool. And they sold really well at the con where I bought them. IDEA!". I'm thinking of printing some fabric with pretty drawings and making some of these bracelets. I already found instructions on how to make them. I wish I knew where I could buy the buttons to close them... But this plan could be awesome.

Anyways... Have some more Jabberwocky...

Aw, crap. I just realised "Adjacent" is spelled badly. If you guys see any more of these, please let me know.

The Irish stereotype I prefer is going into a berserker rage until I see naked ladies and have my head dipped thrice in cold water.

I KNOW! I found the website yesterday... and i'm already thinking up fabric designs in my head. I stared at the website for a bit after I found it and just went "You're going to be taking all my money, aren't you, website?"

"Yes. Yes you are."

Dude, those snake things are hella creepy...

And I am down with the fabric bracelet idea. I'd buy some of yours for sure.

Good job on the shading there, Linkage! *thumbs up* Poor Scarecrow though. So noble to sacrifice his leg to save Emma. But then, being a scarecrow he might not feel it... I hope.

And I would be happy to send you some bracelets!

The scarecrow doesn't feel it. He's been humidified, twisted, pulled, emptied, ripped apart several times in the books and he always just seems happy to be back when they put him back together again. He does fear fire, but I think it's more because he can't be put back together if he's burned then a fear of pain.

I can't say as I blame him for that!

I'll have to check the comic pages later for typos, but you should be able to find snaps (I think they're called snaps?) at any fabric store. At least a good fabric store. The only downside I can see to making and selling bracelets is that they would be "one size fits some" unless you took custom orders. Not all wrists are created equal... In any case, they'd be so painfully easy to see, it's not even funny. Adding the snaps on would be the hardest part - no pun intended.

I'm going to do a web search now, just to make sure I'm calling them by the right name...

Edit: Check it out, I'm not crazy! http://www.snapsource.com/

On the bracelets I own, there are 3 "snaps" or buttons. All three are placed at a different distance, allowing people with different wrist sides to purchase and wear the bands. It's a really good idea. I plan to reproduce it.

oh my god that website!!!!!!!! I might order some there! THANK YOU!

I should show you a photo of the bracelet I have. Maybe you can help me figure out how they made it. I'm sure it's very basic, but I could use the opinion of someone who has more experience then me.

Told you i'd think of something awesome to do with it.

Just looking at the (misleading) photo above, I already know how the bracelet is made. They sewed two pieces of fabric together, leaving an end open. The fabric was turned inside out, the open end would be folded in (to tuck away the raw edge) and then sewn shut, and then the fabric was quilted to make it lay flat. They probably used an iron all throughout to make sure it looked nice.

My only question for you is this: does your bracelet feel like it has padding/filling of any sort between the fabric layers? The bracelets really do look like mini-quilts for your wrist. I have to admit, it's a pretty cool idea, even if I can't really stand jewelry of any sort. Things...on me...nooo!

I'm not a big fan of jewerly either, which is why I love my little fabric bracelets (flewible, not dangly and washable!)

The ones on the photo aren't exactly like the ones I own (I should take a photo of them).

Oh, hey, that's a good guideline! Thanks! It might seem obvious to someone who sews a lot, but I honestly didn't think about turning it over... hah... *is dumb*

They are actually a bit padded, but really not a lot. I think there's just another piece of fabric inside.

Not dumb, just ignorant. Huge difference! I figured the bracelets would be padded in some way, as it adds a bit of thickness, plus would keep its shape. It's actually easy to buy really thin padding. In fact, I have some on hand... :D

Show me a picture later, I'm sure it's not that much different from the posted picture. I will say, if you were to reproduce something like this, I'd go with small snaps, especially if you have extras on the bracelet to fit different wrists.

Oh man, that is a dark beginning, Gorgeous, though, I love it!

I love your bracelet idea! Are they pretty durable? I would love to get one as a watch band for my Yellow Submarine watch.

From: [identity profile] ichiban-victory.livejournal.com
Ninja response! Fabric bands could be pretty durable, if they're made of a high-quality fabric. they can also be pretty bad if made from bad material.. (In short, don't buy fabric from discount retailers. Ever.)

Also, I can't help but think you're awesome for possessing such a watch. I love that song! The movie is a bit weird though...but apparently someone is remaking it. o_O

Thanks! I love that watch immensely. Loved the movie as well, but yes, it is weird. Disney is doing the remake, which makes me nervous -- when they actually try, they can do great things, but they can also make utter crap, and I loved the original film too much to see it ruined for another generation. I'm keeping my fingers crossed!

I have Irish blood and absolutely ZERO tolerance for alcohol. How wild is that? LOL

Jabberwocky is coming along great! I absolutely can't wait to see more pages. I'm not familiar with the original story, so I get to go into your version completely blind.
