Animated features should unite....to beat Harry Potter!

As said yesterday, i'm going to be gone all weekend. I probably won't get to check Lj posts. So, if you can't reach me all weekend, that's why! don't do anything interesting without me (like taking over the internet!)

Oddly enough, one Deviant art again (and here) my art got compared to Dr Seuss once more. I really need to go check out Dr Seuss' books. I mean, i've seen the "Grinch" animated movie, which is kinda like Seuss' style but I don't see a resemblance. Maybe i'll see it more when I check out he books?

In other news - Link finally got an interview for a position in a video game company! I'm also applying to positions in other video game companies for 2D artists. Wish us luck. I'm making a tiny portfolio on "carbonmade" for the occasion.

Oh gosh, I watched the Nostalgia critic's two videos on top 11 Christmas specials (so 22 films, really). I got hit by such a wave of Nostalgia. Man! Some of my favorites were "Frosty the Snowman" and the Muppet's Christmas carol and Garfield's Christmas movie. The critic had also included South Park's "Critters Christmas". That made me laughs. That's a South Park episode I never tired of.

Yeah, I watch South Park. It's one of my guilty pleasures! I didn't actually like the show in it's first 5 seasons (when it relied on toilet humor). Nowadays, it's more of a social critique geared at mocking society and offending pretty much every social group in existence. It's cruel, rude satirical fun. I know a lot of you aren't into shows like that. But I really like this one. I'm really amused by the latest storyline with the kids dressing up as superheroes. That was hilarious!

Gark. I posted almost everyday this week. Yet, I drew no comics, neither for Namesake or here. I really gotta concentrate on comic-making. I'm such a fickle artist. Boooooo.

Eh, I don't think your stuff looks like Suess really. I mean maybe in your coloring, but not really in your style. It's certainly not an insult. He's stories are famous.

Love the drawing! I'm getting more and more excited to see Tangled. Whee! And your drawings are inspiring me to go see Megamind, since I wasn't too keen on that in the first place.

And yay for South Park. Glad to hear you like it. Haha.It can actually be a pretty clever show.

I don't think it's an insult. i'm just amused the "seuss" comment comes back so much.

You should see Megamind. It's super-cool!

Did you see the mysterion episodes?

...I don't see the Seuss resemblance.

ALSO, South Park for the win. XD

And once again, the drawing is epic. XD

Huh? Maybe one to two of your drawings resemble Dr. Suess, but I don't think you're that matching of a style. (Granted that's not to say Dr. Suess didn't have a neat style. You would probably enjoy it.)

Good luck with the job! It would be awesome for both you and Link. ^_^

Yeah, I checked out Seuss' stuff and I can see a bit of an occasional ressemblance.

I can see the Dr Seuss resemblance (mainly in how you draw curves and whatnot). So it doesn't surprise me that a lot of people think you're influenced by him.

A 2D artist at a video game company, huh? That sounds like it would be a fun job. Good luck to you!

Watching South Park is nothing to be ashamed of. That show is hilarious! And the creators deserve mad props for possessing serious cajones (they've had multiple fatwas levied at them for addressing the Mohammed cartoon kerfluffle).

Yeah, I can see it in the little lines too. But his characters look so inhuman...

Oh gosh, those guys have guts. They really try to offend everyone equally. They got so many death threats

Yes, you need to check out some of Dr. Seuss's books. Not only is the art whimsical, but the wordplay is divine... if you like that sort of thing.

I thought Link already worked for a video game company? Is this a different one? One with better pay and such? Regardless, luck to you both!

It's for a different company. Plus, instead of debugging he would be...creating! Which a big, fun step forward.

I wonder if they have a full Seuss compilation somewhere.

Awesome! Best of luck then!

I dunno. I think with a little bit of digging, one might be found.

I'm probably going to go against the grain and actually say that I can see the similarity between some of your work and Seuss, but that's not a bad thing! The pic you posted earlier this week looked a lot like the Seuss illustrations.

I think it's particularly evident in your more whimsical pieces (like the firebird image for Namesake). It's in the flexibility of the limbs and the little, inked lines you use for shading. As soon as I saw that paragraph, it clicked in my mind.

I love The Nostalgia Critic. I really need to look up his Christmas reviews. I hate that they've stopped showing as many of the older Christmas movies! (Except for the week or so before Thanksgiving - which is odd.)

BTW - did you happen to notice that your Aang icon and your pic of Megamind look disturbingly similar? Did you do that on purpose? XD

Date: 2010-11-20 05:35 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] secondlina.livejournal.com
Yeah, I see it more in the stranger things. Well, good for me, considering everyone calls him a genius! :D

Aang and Megamind alike? *looks* Hey, yeah! MWAHAHAHA

Ha ha! South Park rocks! ;) The first seasons were a bit potty mouthed, but it's good stuff. The latest 3 part Cthulu/coon and friends episode was so fun! :P

Dr Seus... Hmm... I don't really see the resemblance :/ I don't dislike his stuff, but you definitely have better form than he does and MUCH better details. Maybe similar in crazy imagination and design, but otherwise nah, you trump him my sweet ;)

Nostalgia Critic can be pretty funny :) Haven't seen the Christmas one yet

Go Link! Hope he gets the job! And good luck to you as well of course! =D

And of course, yay Megamind art! XD I went and saw it for a second time tonight =D It had an extended trailer for Tangled, and well I am definitely going to go see that one! (Her having him all tied up in the chair was hot LOL! :P Yeah, I can't help it, I'm a deviant! XD)

I don't really see a resemblance to Dr. Seuss in the picture...I'll have to watch them again. want to see Megamind and Tangled, they're both going to be good.

South Park is pretty hilarious, I did see one of the christmas ones with Mr. Hanky in it I think.

Speaking of Dreamworks, I got a copy of "How to train your dragon' and loved it! I want a Toothless plushie!

Yeah, I saw photos of the "face characters" in the parks and the guy always looks perfect. Where did they dig up these hunks and how do I get in there?

A lot of aspiring actors and models use Disneyland as a stepping stone to real acting/modeling work. So the hunks (and babes) come to Disney. LOL

Awww! I didn't mean it in a bad way about comparing your work to Dr. Seuss. I wasn't making fun of your last art, I was being quite serious. 0_o

And what's wrong with Dr. Seuss? xD;

Working at a video game company sounds hardcore awesome! =O

Oh gosh, I absolutely love all the stop-motion Christmas cartoons! They're so neat!

Believe it or not, I used to watch South Park. Way back in high school. I don't watch it anymore, I can't gather up the nerves to. .____.;

Oh, no, i,m taking the Seuss thing as a compliment. And it's not just you. A WHOLE LOT of people have told me on deviant art too. It's happened very often, which is why I was pondering about it :D

The new episodes are less yucky and more critical. I recommend checking out the coon and friends 3-parter to decide if you want to get back into it :D
