BRAINNNS

So, Today was a brain dead Isa dead. Returning to work combined with the fact that I spent the weekend working double on my comics... I'm really tired. I needed an evening of nothing but internet and calm to make me feel less like a zombie and more like me. I still drew a bit, but it made no sense :

A gothic lolita with a faun? What? See, this is why I need to take brain days. Looks cool though.

I also made sketch of Lady Amalthea for [livejournal.com profile] snapdragon . I loved her sad eyes in the Last unicorn. Drawing her reminded me of my love for the series Elfquest. Boy, when I was younger I was in a huge Elfquest/Last unicorn kick. so I drew a lot of sad looking pale skinned pretty girls and elves riding mystical creatures. Anybody else remembers Elfquest? I still love it, though i'm not really impressed by all the spin offs. My favorite character is and remains Skywise. I think him and Schmendrick are the ones who started my love the the sarcastic ones in a group.

The Elfquest books got translated to french in color, which is why i'm aware of the series despite the fact that I didn't talk English as a kid. I remember my school library had the first 10 books. One was too damaged, so my mother (who worked there) needed to throw it out. She gave it to me instead. It was my precious for years. I STILL own that destroyed book. I tried to salvage it with tape and read it delicately. Lately, I bought all the english re-prints. Man. I loved this so much. If you don't know this and you like elves/nostalgic comics, read it now.

Aside from that, i've been craving the 50's. I want to buy a bunch of dresses from that era. I don't even know why! Why am I so obsessed with clothing from the 50's and 60's?

If you guys know a good website aside from Etsy where I can get my 50's fix, let me know.

- Isa

Skywise! :heart

The only thing I ever drew recognizably was Skywise.

http://eveshka.deviantart.com/art/Skywise-11045215

Eveshka was my Glider elf on Two Moons MUSH. Her lifemate was Talyrath. Two years after I met him IRL, I married him.

Richard said he was okay with that being all his fault. XD

(My avvie there is the human rendition based on an old photograph. I don't look like that IRL. Well. At least, I mean I don't have purple eyes.)

Aw, that's such a cute story! Go Elfquest.

Nice profile of the guy! Skywise is so awesome.

I'm glad to see this series has greatly influenced other people as well.

Unless you want to part with serious cash for vintage clothing, you're better off seeking out dress patterns either from or replicating that era. I'd not mind a return to fashion from those days though, the clothing was certainly more modest and nice looking...

Wow, I've never heard of Elfquest. I guess that's not so unusual if I grew up being exposed to things decades before my time! O:) I might have to check it out.

I was thinking about that. I should probably invest in a sewing machine too. Because sewing these by hand would suck.

I think you'll like the story behind elfquest. Be warned, there's explicit sexuality. But nothing disgusting, or in bad taste. It's mostly just "lifemates" being together. I was a kid when I read this. And it didn't shock me.

Don't feel weird. I doodle some really odd stuff when I'm bored/brain dead, too.

SQUEE! Another retro fashion fan! I'm extremely lucky in that area because my aunt and Grandmother have given me some of their very well preserved dresses, shoes, purses, and costume jewelry from that era. I love them! Twirly skirts are the bee's knees! ^_^

Like Faunlitas.

Ah, lucky! I had a poodle skirt a while ago. But it ripped. :(

Eeee, Skywise, eee! I was so incredibly in love with Skywise as a kid-- he was pretty much my first crush. I am totally delighted by your doodle of him, he's so cute.

Also-- lolita fauns, totally an untapped market!

He probably was my first crush too! Darn you Skywise, and your womanizing charms.

Yup, completely untapped. And I bet people whould love Faunlitas too. Maybe I should draw more in a less brain-blah state.

You'd like it. It's really up your alley. Plus, you know, ELVES! Elves that aren't Lord of the Ring influenced.

I love the clothes of the 50s, especially the dresses. They just seem more classy than some of the dresses we have today. I'll let you know if I find any sites like that.

I like the modern clothing too. Put 50's dress have a certain charm that I can't find elsewhere. I blame pushing daisies and all their cool vintage clothing.

Whoa, that linework! :D The lines do that, crosshatching, thing maybe? And the way the fur is inked! It looks like comic artwork. I should know these terms since I draw a little too. :\

I really like doing this complicated type of textured inking. It gives the drawing a bit of life!

You draw too? Where is your art, pray tell? I would like to see it! *waits for deviant art link*

Oh fudge, I'm in a quandary! Sorry, it's my normal reaction, I'm kind of lurker-shy. I should really start adding stuff there on a regular basis.

It's only a hobby unfortunately. D:
