Lots of random stuff. And a Warrick. And a mermaid with a hook hand. And a drawing of Katara and Sokka as adults :

I'm so sleepy on weekends. seriously. I can't seem to get my butt out of bed before 11. What's up with that? I want to work!

Yesterday night I watched some robot chicken with a friend and then watched Toy Story 1 while I sketched.

I have to admit, 3D animation seems to age a lot less gracefully then 2-D animation. However, I believe that 3-D animation is now at a stage where it's good enough to start aging gracefully. And pretty much the only 2-D animation that ages gracefully is high-quality stuff. Older anime and tv cartoons?  Ouch. Look at those age lines.

Daria aged pretty gracefully (aside from the fashion being really out of fashion, that poor fashion club!) but then again, it was never really that much into moving and really focused on the dialogue instead.

Ha ha aging gracefully :P I'd never thought about it in those terms when talking 2D to 3D. Nice sketches hun ;)

Thanks!

And everything ages. Welcome to the entropy of the universe!

Sokka and Katara are a wonderful sibling pair. <3

After much deliberation, I think I'm going to swallow my pride and see The Last Airbender film, just once, unless I'm bored enough. >/

I'm still debating. I might go because I have a free movie pass and therefore give them no money.

I know, I love their sibling love!

The mermaid with the hook is cool. (And sorry, but the cow made me think of the song "I am Cow" by the Arrogant Worms. XD)

Funny, I was just thinking about how the animation for Toy Story has aged until now too. The quality of 3D animation is so much better now than it was then.

The first series that comes to mind for not aging well animationwise are old 80s cartoons like He-man or Thundercats. Some, just don't age well.

And Hanna-Barbara series. EWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW.

I'm sad to say Slayers didn't age too well either. compare the old with the new... at least the story is still awesome.

I broke down and watched Toy Story the other night, too, although my thoughts on computer animation were a bit different. Maybe since I have a better display now than I did originally, I never noticed just how much texture there was in the first movie. The animations are definitely stiffer though, but I think that's one reason why Pixar chose to make a movie about toys in the first place. Many were going to be stiff in movement anyway, so it wouldn't make the movie suffer. (And in fact, continuing to make use of this is what made it so amusing watching Barbie and Ken in action in the newest movie!) The humans and Scud were definitely stiff though, something I'm glad to see has changed as technology has improved.

Generations from now, Toy Story will be to current CGI movies as Snow White is to traditional animation.

(And you'll be proud of me! A collector's edition of the first season of Avatar was released and Amazon was selling it 50% off, so I broke down and bought it. I should be getting it in a week or so.)

Toy Story was the first, and despite evolution of the genre, it still deserves praise. I have to agree about the humans though. Compare Hiccup to the original Andy? Or even both Andys? Yeah. Not pretty.

The movements they chose to do ("flailing" woody, "squeaky" barbie) made me laughs so hard. I loved it.

Woo! I hope you like it!

And the smile. XD

That's OK, I'll hide Katara in Gourry's closet.

I kind of want a shirt like Katara's.

The first Toy Story looks rather classy, it looks like they made artistic style, instead of bein limited, IMHO. Of course then the art evolution you get in Toy Story 2 is MASSIVE. Love the lighting and texturing for numero deux.
