How to train your dragons!

I decided to draw a few fanarts that kinda blend the book universe and the movie universe. In the book universe, all the teen vikings had a dragon to train. They had their own special dragon. So I decided to kinda give them all one :

In the books,  Fishlegs had a Basic Brown dragon named Horrorcow. The Horror bit is to add some scaryness to her name. The cow bit is because she is not remotely dangerous. Fishlegs suspects she is a vegetarian. I kept her as a Gronkle in this fanart because I really like the gronkles from the movie. It suits him. I made her a bit special though.



Astrid doesn't exist in the books, but the girl from the books, Camikazi, as Stormfly, a Mood-Dragon, Mood-Dragons change colour in different moods. Snotloud was pretty much the only viking with his dragon fromt he book. Fireworm is Snotlout's Monstrous nightmare. He's pretty cocky.



The twins don't exist in the books. I let Tuffnut keep the Zippleback. I'm sure he likes the idea of two dragons for the price of one. Ruffnut gets Seaslug, a dragon used by Snotloud's buddy in the books. Since Seaslug was a gronkle but I let Fishlegs keep the gronkle, I make Seaslug into a stripped flamelicker.



Last but not least - hiccup with Toothless and a Terrible Terror. I put the Terrible Terror in because I love them, and also because Toothless' book design was the one of a Terrible Terror. I like the movie version better though XD This version was not inked. I don't like the sketch that much :(

Oh, these are really cute! <3 I love the details of the dragon designs and the watercolors. I'm going to have to pick up the book, one of these days, as well. It sounds interesting!

It looks like you had a lot of fun drawing these. I especially like the first drawing. That kid cracked me up how he kept naming stats, so his little word bubble has me snickering. (I also liked the gronkles. They're fat and odd to look at, but they grow on you eventually. They remind me of bumble bees.)

Leave it to Hiccup and Toothless not to cooperate. I think Hiccup looks fine and the Terrible Terror is adorable, but Toothless doesn't seem right somehow. I blame his face, since he has a very snake-like shaped head, yet when seen from some angles it does seem more cat-like.

...I definitely need to make my mom watch the movie with me again.

Dude. I think EVERYONE though of bumblebees when they saw the gronkle. It's hilarious! Another kinda looks like a parakee.

That sucks that Astrid doesn't exist in the book...books...there's more than one? D:
Because she is such an awesome character.

But these drawings are so cute! I'm especially glad that you included Astrid and the twins anyway. xD

it's a whole series of books. There is a "hot viking girl" in the books. She's also a princess (aren't they always). Her name was Camikazi. I think Asrid basically is Camikazi, it's just the people at dreamworks thought "Camikazi" was an awful (and kinda racist) name since it's prononced like Kamikaze.

Wow! Did you draw all those dragons in just a day? And giving everybody all those details? That's very goood.

I haven't seen the movie (yet), but it seems everybody have their own dragon, and they fit their personality. It's hard to choice the best one. ;-)

OMFG FISHLEGS!!!! *sporfle* That's gotta be the cutest thing I've ever seen (ok, Night Furies are cool.... but I think I really love the Gronkles. I like to eat and sleep, they like to eat and sleep. We'd so mesh.)

Gronkles are awesome! They are the bumblebees of the dragon world! :D

Fishlegs needs more love! Check deviant art - some really neat artist paired him up with ruffnut. IT'S SO CUTE!
