I have....like....no patience for stupid today. NONE. None for annoyance either. Where is ther always somewhere one guy that thinks he's above the rules, that we should know who he is and tremble at his awesome power? WHY?

Better yet, why are his kneecaps intact? WHY I ASK?

*mumbles something about being zen and calm*

So yeah, very little patience today. Maybe I would be friendlier if I drew more and slept more. *laughs* I also called the Quebec Housing authority and asked them if my landlord could legally do some of the things he's trying to do, such as get me to pay October's rent because he wasn't able to find a tenant. Turns out, no he can't. Well, DUH. I figured as much, but now I have the law segment to back up my claim over his. I also learned that a few things he asked of me (such as getting all my checks in advance but pre-dated so that he could not use them before the date indicated) are also totally illegal. Huh. Live and learn.

I knew the guy was secretly evil. I was totally right. I'm not happy about being right. But at least it proves my point. Xelloss-styled smilers are evil, even in real life.

Interview tomorrow! I'm hoping i'll be less prove to anger and annoyance.

Fanart of the day! I'm still a little stuck on Avatar: The Last Airbender, probably because i'm watching the episodes again. This fanart is again about Toph, the blind earthbender, because she is one of my favorites. For those of you who don't know, Toph is blind but sees thru her ability to control earth, metal and stone by feeling the vibrations in the material. She can also tell if someone is lying by their heartbeat. This got me thinking about how she would see people. She would probably see them as shapes and feel the movements of their blood pumping. It's a strange way to see the world. Especially when she is in someone's arms since she can't feel the ground anymore, just the vibrations from the person's body. I think they really made her into an interesting character. I just adore her. Plus, seeing a 12-year-old beating 50 guys at once by using all the materials around her in creative ways is also pretty cool.

Well, i'm gonna go read my notes again to prepare for my interview.

People will always try to dupe their tenants (or underlings) since no one seems to check to make sure what's going on is really legal... It's unfortunate people are like that, but considering it happens again and again it seems to be human nature. Human nature that indeed needs to be smashed!

Much luck preparing for the interview. :)

Nah. Human nature is good. It's money and power that corrupts (so the nature is good, but the society is bad?)

Not even society so much. I'd have to guess that it's the people who believe they will get away with what they're doing and never be discovered who do such things. (Else things like crime, murder and the like wouldn't happen nearly so much.)

Good for you, for going to the Housing Authority! The law is on your side, my friend!

Also, good luck on the interview. *hugs* I'm really incredibly jealous, this is the type of job that I've always wanted! GOOD LUCK!!

You don't even know what type of job it is LOL! It's basically the same as my current job, just instead of working for people in business, i'll work in a museum. Meh, that's fun!

Those are the exact reasons why Toph is my favorite Avatar character.

She's female. She's twelve. She's blind. She can kick butt. Lots of it.

Toph is super awesome. She's my favorite too! I love her design as well. I know a lot of people complain that she didn't get paired with Sokka, but she's freakin' 12. They made her have cute crushes well though. But I think the fact that she stayed alone kinda helped establish her independent persona.

I relate to Toph the most. 8D I like her design, too.

Honestly, I never really liked Sokka and Toph as a couple. >> Not just because of the age difference and it was one-sided, but I felt Sokka was more of a big brother to her. And he was hung up on Suki. =/

Which is why I ship AangxToph because they're the same age and their elements are the opposite. 8D

Interesting fact, Jessie Flower, Toph's VA, stated SokkaToph was her favorite couple. I'm not sure if it's still true.

You have such a neat imagination baby :) Love it!

Good for you for checking up on some of that guys claims. At least now you have the law to back you up. I'll bet you'll be glad to leave him behind.

Toph is awesome! I love that idea of yours, it would make sense for Toph. Now I'm getting the urge to rewatch the episodes.

Good luck with the interview.

You should re-watch them. I'm doing that right now. it's so much more fun the second time around. I take more time to look at the animation.

I think you'll get the job. You deserve it, and you can do it.

I'm glad the board is on your side.

Keep your fingers crossed!

Geez, good thing you'll soon be rid of that landlord! From what you've described, it doesn't come as much of a surprise that he's acting illegally...at least if he tries to push you around about these things any more, you have the law to back you up.

Very neat drawing! It is pretty interesting to imagine how Toph must "picture" everybody. The blood vessels being most detailed on a person is probably the most realistic for her.

The thing is, i'm kinda happy he was an 'absent' landlord (meaning he didn't really bug me. He didn't fix anything either, but at least he didn't bug me.) but now that it's been established that i'm leaving he's turned into a giant idiot. Argh.

I,m glad you like the picture. When you think about it, her world is just shapes, textures and vibrations. It must 'look' really strange.

I dunno why people feel they have to be asshats most of the time. A friend of mine is going through the same thing only with work. She works in a doctor's office and they recently moved to a new building. Things are a little disorganized yet, but still people feel they are entitled and all that crap. She's at the end of her rope right now...

Ahh, Toph. What a little spitfire she is! Her sarcastic comments cracked me up. Disability Superpower for the win!

God luck with the interview!

You do realize I'm a superintendent, right? Ontario versus Quebec, but if you have questions just drop me an email.

I do disagree with [livejournal.com profile] ichiban_victory's comment about people will always dupe their tenants (or underlings). While this does happen (well, duh!), not every landlord is like that and not every boss is like that. In general, people are good. Our society wouldn't function if that wasn't the case. Being able to deal with the ones that aren't good, though, is a challenge.

In your particular case, knowing your rights and then having the courage to enforce them is really important. So good on you for doing just that. :)

While I did say people will always try to dupe others, I didn't say all people try to dupe others...although if one's had siblings one might know otherwise... Be it big or small, it's not above human nature to try and gain something for nothing, especially if there's little to no chance of being caught.

Urgh. I hate how the quebec and ontario laws can be so different. If your landlord has houses in quebec but lives in ontario... get ready for a headache! But I appreciate the suggestion. My current problem is that I told my landlord I was moving 2 months ago, and yet he wants me to pay for October's rent (and heating and lighting, even though no one will live there) on the grounds that he did not rent out the appartment. Do you know if there is any instance where this is legal? Because as far as i'm told, it is not. To add insult to injury - I asked him if I could rent by the month earlier when I knew I needed to move because my employer wanted to expand my contract, by only a month, and then I would move to Montreal. Of course, the guy said he only rented by the year, which is understandable, so I told him I would be moving out at the end of september as written in the lease. But now he wants me to pay for an extra month and NOT live in the appartment. Like...WTF?

I don't really think i'm enforcing my rights out of courage. I just don't want to pay 625$ plus expenses for a place I'm not allowed to live in.

In Ontario, tenants have to give their landlord 60 days signed written notice to terminate their lease. I'm not sure if 60 days is the same in Quebec, but if it is and you gave the notice in writing (assuming you have to) than that's that. It doesn't matter if the landlord couldn't rent the apartment or not - that's not your problem. It's his.

Now, if you've terminated the lease correctly and he's still being a twit, find your provincial landlord/tenant organization (in Ontario it's the Landlord/Tenant Board - I did a quick search and this site may be the right one for Quebec but I'm not positive. There's also this) and write him a nice polite formal letter quoting the section that indicates that, yes, you've ended the lease properly. And indicate that you're prepared to go before the tribunal (or whatever it's called) if he pushes the issue. Be polite but be firm.

The thing is, you do need to be prepared to call his bluff. But if you've done things right, he'll most likely back down. Let me know and we can chat more via email.

By the by: it always takes courage to stand up for your rights.
