Where's my ACME Hammer?
Sep. 15th, 2009 11:12 pm I have....like....no patience for stupid today. NONE. None for annoyance either. Where is ther always somewhere one guy that thinks he's above the rules, that we should know who he is and tremble at his awesome power? WHY?
Better yet, why are his kneecaps intact? WHY I ASK?
*mumbles something about being zen and calm*
So yeah, very little patience today. Maybe I would be friendlier if I drew more and slept more. *laughs* I also called the Quebec Housing authority and asked them if my landlord could legally do some of the things he's trying to do, such as get me to pay October's rent because he wasn't able to find a tenant. Turns out, no he can't. Well, DUH. I figured as much, but now I have the law segment to back up my claim over his. I also learned that a few things he asked of me (such as getting all my checks in advance but pre-dated so that he could not use them before the date indicated) are also totally illegal. Huh. Live and learn.
I knew the guy was secretly evil. I was totally right. I'm not happy about being right. But at least it proves my point. Xelloss-styled smilers are evil, even in real life.
Interview tomorrow! I'm hoping i'll be less prove to anger and annoyance.
Fanart of the day! I'm still a little stuck on Avatar: The Last Airbender, probably because i'm watching the episodes again. This fanart is again about Toph, the blind earthbender, because she is one of my favorites. For those of you who don't know, Toph is blind but sees thru her ability to control earth, metal and stone by feeling the vibrations in the material. She can also tell if someone is lying by their heartbeat. This got me thinking about how she would see people. She would probably see them as shapes and feel the movements of their blood pumping. It's a strange way to see the world. Especially when she is in someone's arms since she can't feel the ground anymore, just the vibrations from the person's body. I think they really made her into an interesting character. I just adore her. Plus, seeing a 12-year-old beating 50 guys at once by using all the materials around her in creative ways is also pretty cool.

Well, i'm gonna go read my notes again to prepare for my interview.

Good luck with the interview.

Date: 2009-09-16 09:18 pm (UTC)Very neat drawing! It is pretty interesting to imagine how Toph must "picture" everybody. The blood vessels being most detailed on a person is probably the most realistic for her.

God luck with the interview!

In your particular case, knowing your rights and then having the courage to enforce them is really important. So good on you for doing just that. :)

Date: 2009-09-17 02:50 am (UTC)I don't really think i'm enforcing my rights out of courage. I just don't want to pay 625$ plus expenses for a place I'm not allowed to live in.

Date: 2009-09-17 03:05 am (UTC)Honestly, I never really liked Sokka and Toph as a couple. >> Not just because of the age difference and it was one-sided, but I felt Sokka was more of a big brother to her. And he was hung up on Suki. =/
Which is why I ship AangxToph because they're the same age and their elements are the opposite. 8D
Interesting fact, Jessie Flower, Toph's VA, stated SokkaToph was her favorite couple. I'm not sure if it's still true.

Date: 2009-09-17 03:15 am (UTC)Now, if you've terminated the lease correctly and he's still being a twit, find your provincial landlord/tenant organization (in Ontario it's the Landlord/Tenant Board - I did a quick search and this site may be the right one for Quebec but I'm not positive. There's also this) and write him a nice polite formal letter quoting the section that indicates that, yes, you've ended the lease properly. And indicate that you're prepared to go before the tribunal (or whatever it's called) if he pushes the issue. Be polite but be firm.
The thing is, you do need to be prepared to call his bluff. But if you've done things right, he'll most likely back down. Let me know and we can chat more via email.
By the by: it always takes courage to stand up for your rights.
