I finished this commission a while ago. Someone had asked for a portrait of their nieces as Oz characters, so I dressed one as Ozma and the other as a Wicked Witch. Needless to say the kids and the commissionnee loved it (I hear the eldest is quite the fan of witches). I though it was a bit of a shame that I never shared this commission with anyone else because it was really, really fun. I really like when people ask for portraits or OCs. I like drawing new stuff and getting to be creative about it.

In other news, I think I might be too emotionally involved with the Legend of Korra show. I really love it. I kinda missed the boat for the first show, so it's nice to be excited at the same time as 5 million other viewers. Only 3 episodes left!

I was proud of myself yesterday. For a little more then two weeks, I was happy. Like, fully happy. No depression or odd thoughts or anything. Today broke the good streak, unfortunately. It was kindoff a bad day. I wish I didn't have to go to work tomorrow. Thankfully, Link is a good boyfriend that provides hugs and chocolate fondue. I just need to stay focused on good things.

Bleh.

Oh, as another random note, my tiny yokais were a roaring success in class, especially because I gave then away at the end. I was asked to make many, many more for the next class. The next class is also the last, so i'm thinking of heading to Chinatown to find a special little something to have a raffle for at the end of the class. These kids deserve it. Good kids.

Some of you may know (I wrote about it a few times), i'm working on expanding and creating a webcomic based on the idea behind the Oziad jokes I did a while back. The webcomic project has started, and i'm hoping to have the whole thing up and running by the end of the year.

The webcomic would be a mix of fairytales and the fact that characters can travel to one or another. The story revolves around two sisters, Emma and Elaine, and the powers of names. A lot of characters got added and the story expanding a lot from the original joke. But fear not, the Wicked Warlock of the West still made it to the final cut (his name is not Link anymore though... But I kept his design. I liked it too much!)

The webcomic got a name "Namesake". And I have a delightful partner in crime to share the burden of starting a project like this.

I'll expand more on the story when it will be more concrete. Actually, I'm gonna keep the story a secret I think. But you guys will get to see development drawings.

I was spending a lot of time trying to find a style for "Namesake". Unlike the Oziad, Namesake is serious with jokes thrown in rather then a big joke with serious thrown in. So at first I drew very serious designs for the characters.

Yeah. It's a similar style to my printed comics like ROSE. It didn't fit quite right.

Then, under the encouragements of my partners in crime who loves the Lj's artstyle, I decide to try out a more "cartoony" or "animated" style that can be detailled and serious if needed. I like this result. Things are more flowy. Plus you know... Internet. It's a place of crazyness and fun. A webcomic needs a style that suits the medium. Plus I can really work their expressions this way.

But I really like both styles in a way.... Deciding is HARD!

More sketches of various characters in various styles... )
I'm getting excited about this. Are you guys?

Also, would you prefer serious drawings or cartoony-er?

Customers would be much quieter. Every coffee cup is a weapon XD
This comic was inspired from a really screwed up lady that had the rotten luck of being in line behind a really indicesive lady who placed an order comparable to Lina's. She was obviously pissed about waiting so long, but then again, what was I to do? You can't really press a client into choosing. All you can do is make it fast when they do decide.

Thank god only one customer out of ten is a jackass and most of the time you don't notice.

Oh, and on an unrelated note: I'm alive!

I know it's been like...forever (or ten days) since I updated but things have been *slightly* crazy on this side with midterms and stuff. I actually drew a lot, just never took the time to scan it.

I can't believe school is over in a month in a half. AAACK! I have nothing done. My stupid intership hasen't been confirmed yet, because my program leader is a ghost. It's kinda frustrating considering I payed and am waiting to confirm me inscription to a summer session so I can get this stupid intership done when the freaking program manager seems to have POOFED OUT OF FUCKING THIN AIR!

Rawr.

I need to get my confirmation out this week or I can forget about the stupid intership, which would suck consedering i've been planning this since october and well, it's mandatory. *sigh* I hate administrative paperwork, I hate administrative paperwork, I hate administrative paperwork oh god i'm actually going to work in the domain aren't I?

Rawr again.

In a more positive view, i've been in a totally Oz mood lately, lisening to the Wicked soundtrack over and over. Elphaba and Glinda are the coolest.

I also finally saw Rent with my friend Tama...Heh, I dunno. I understood the story since it was about important artistic events in the new york 80's and about bohemians but I found the story was hard to follow without any actual dialogue...It's just song over song. It feels like a part of the movie as been cutout or something. The songs were pretty though, especially "Seasons of love" And the character of Angel was my ultimate favorite.

I decided to rent the V for Vendetta later on. I saw the beginning of that movie twice and never finished it. I ended up getting fed up of it and rented it.

V is my god. He is an awesome character. I love how he talks! Though I admit I had to put in the subtitles to understand all of it well (he talks fast with big words. I get confused). I love his introduction speech all in "v's" I watched that part three times XD. I can't believe it took me forever to see this film. I adore it! I like the movie much better then the comic book. I think it's because the comic book is older. The movie touches more actual problems like bacterialogical warfare and the power of mass communication systems. The movie feels so much closer to us, so much more real. I also like that V is less of an anarchist in the movie and more of a poet. The comic is heavy on the anarchy. The movie doesn't seem to condemn or put on a pedestal either anarchy or facism. It does instead a reflexion about freedom, fear and the power of numbers and unity.

The scene where everyone appeared dressed like V was one of my favorites. I also have a little weakness for V in his cooking apron. So cute. ^ ^

Oh, as a final note, for those who wonder, the winning banner was number 5, aka wind banner. The number one (aka panel cluster banner) followed closely behind, but 5 won with 3 votes extra. I'll most likely still draw and color both, and maybe change once in a while XD Or use one as a link banner.

Okay, that's all for me tonight.
Take care guys!
