I know everybody is complaining about the movie production team whitewashing the cast and that Night Shayalaman produces 1 good movie out of three....But you gotta admit this is like Narnia met the animation series and made sweet-sweet epic lovin'.

Is that girl supposed to be Alice? I thought she's supposed to be a redhead like in the game. D= Unless the movie isn't based on the game, but I thought it was?

Apparently the movie is a sequel to the original books, just like "Return to Oz" was more of a sequel to the Oz books than the Judy Garland movie. If I recall correctly, the Alice book illustrations have her as a blonde, just as the book Dorothy was.

Yes, it's very similar to the Return to Oz concept (including the darker version of the fairy land) Alice is now older, blonder and ready for illogical action.

Now we need a good crossover between blonde Alice and blonde Dorothy and their worlds ... it was done once before in comic form, but I've never been able to track that version down.

Tim Burton as advertized the movie as being a sequel to the original books with a darker atmosphere. Though it might be similar to that game, I don't think it's based on it at all.

I hope so. Burton usually has a pretty good touch for stories. Though I admit his stories (especially his animated ones) tend to be similar (maybe because he uses the same actors over and over?) I'm thinking this one might be interesting. I look at the production photos and all I can think about is Alice meets Pirates of the Carribean (because of her coat and the boat).

The only thing that bothers me with this Alice movie (and all Alice movies) is the fact that everybody tries to make a constructed logical story out of stuff happening in wonderland. Because it's hard to make an illogical movie? Because people would not follow it? Because random events can't just be random like in real life? So alice is now stuck defeating the Red Queen who is a huge despot for some reason. I imagine being a dictator on wonderland would be hard (try to imprison a disapearing cat for one thing!)

I think they're trying to make a movie that is going to entertain the largest number of people, and Hollywood producers basically think the average person outside their town is an idiot; they're afraid if we don't have a clear plot to follow, we'll get confused and give up on it.

Okay, the following is a general rant about cartoons to live action movies, so please don't think I'm bashing Avatar...but...

That TOTALLY pisses me off. If you're going to make a movie based on an animation, why don't you just use that money and ANIMATE it?! Why are American movie companies so fucking retarded that they always need to make everything live-action!?!!

Argh.

Also, Alice in Wonderland looks...EERIE.

I think they do it because most americans still have the vision of animation = dumb show for kids = making an animated feature if we are not disney will give us no money = disney owns the market so all we can do is live action = oh and it's japanese style too? Forget it.

I'm a little angry at the fact that they chose to do a live action film myself (again, see equation above) but at the same time I understand why they did it. Also, I like live action version of things, as long as it is a GOOD live action version. Kinda like the batman movies.

I saw the Avatar trailer and I have to admit, I squeed at the sight of the fire nation ships and the costume looked cool. Although, I think they could have made Aang's airbending a bit stronger (he was practically a master at the beginning of the series) by having him blow out all the candles, but I might just be nitpicking there. ^_^;

I can't wait for Time Burton's Alice in Wonderland. Maybe if it comes out during the summer we can all see it together?

i saw the Avatar movie trailer and while i'm not an Avatar fan, I know it would have been much better animated than live-action. I guess it gives them a chance to show off their 3D close-to-real-life special effects. Putting that aside, the trailer was pretty good and i'm looking forward to watching it.
