I'm a busy little bee. I haven't been online much lately and my number of posts/quality of drawings went down as of late. I kinda feel like I should apologize for that. But when most of your free time is consecrated to work or to drawing professional-looking things, time to draw *fun* things is so reduced. Insert here my eternal whine about lacking time. Seriously. It's my every other whine! *laughs*

Everybody else seems pretty busy too. I haven't seen many people online or posting. We are all trapped by things of reality it seems. I noticed more people tend to be online in the winter, because you're stuck inside... It's almost funny.

In other news, I decided to finish buying Tsubasa - Reservoir chronicles. I already own up to the 17th manga. I decided to stop buying them because even though I though the story was decent (okay to good in most chapters... but generally okay.) and the drawing style interesting, I was afraid this was one of those *DOOMED TO GO ON FOREVER!* series (like, say...inuyasha). And everybody knows I HATE stories that never end. However, the creators, Clamp, have stated that this series will end in 2009 in (most likely) the 26th book. They are stopping it to start a new shojo series. This encourages me to buy the rest of them and try to understand where there is like...3 or 4 Sakuras and Syaorans at the end of book 23...(something about...clones?).

I also officially gave up on CardCaptor Sakura. The english official releases are crazy expensive and/or unavailable. And the chinese bootleg is insanely expensive too (60$) for something that is most likely compressed to death (70 episodes on 8 DVDs? Heeeeelllloooo bad quality.) I think i'll stick to my somewhat illegal old downloads. The quality still sucks and i'm missing episodes but at least I didn't pay 60$ for something of most likely equivalent quality. I might still try to score the movie DVDs though. They aren't quite as hard to come by. I'll cross my fingers and hope someone picks up the rights to it someday. After all, Magic Knight Rayearth just got a special deluxe edition. Why not CCS? Maybe if it ride's on Tsubasa's popularity enough...

Poor little Sakura. you're a rare item now.

And with that, I bid thee Adieu.

-Isa

Okay, I've got the entire series in English manga-wise. Remind me before our epic trip of epicness next year and I shall bring my copies with me.

I read Tsubasa: Reservoir Chronicle but stopped at chapter thirteen. I really couldn't get into it. T_T

Since I barely have time to keep up with manga titles that never end, I might as well watch the anime version instead, no matter bad it compared to the manga. :/ Hey, at least Inuyasha did end!

Awww, I'm sorry that Cardcaptor Sakura is giving you such a hard time. DX I hope you can acquire it whatever means necessary.

No see, that's why I decided to finish Tsubasa. Because there is an ending! And it's confirmed. YAY!

I had trouble getting into it too. I find i'm more into it now that they got out of the *visiting a world daily!* mode... Although it's still mostly an okay story rather then awesome. I think i'm mostly reading it for the cuteness and the fact that I read everything by Clamp.

Maybe I'll give it another chance. I still might watch the anime too just for the heck of it. >>;

As I was having a CLAMP conversation with someone else, I wasn't able to follow everything by CLAMP. D: I missed out on reading/watching X, and xxxHolic.

They came to Anime Expo 2006 but I couldn't go due to stupid family vacation. >.<

Aside from the whole "falling into the pit of despair that is realizing I have so much JUNK in my room", I've actually really just been...playing video games. XP And working. It's a nice way to de-stress, although I know what it's like to just work (and even do artsy things for work) and not have any time to do something fun. It's very draining...

Ha to your $60! I know I whine that Avatar is too expensive, but back in the day I parted with $80 just to get one half-season of Slayers - on VHS! It's no wonder I have always been really picky about what anime/manga series to get into. It's just too darn expensive! I really don't care for super long series either, exceptions being Twelve Kingdoms because it is just that awesome. Plus, I have to respect the author for setting it aside to pursue other things instead of writing it into the ground. Sometimes it would be nice if other authors would do the same.

The thing is I really don't mind paying 60$ for a boxset if the contents are worth it. I'm talking good story, good animation and of course, good DVD. 60$ for a compressed bootleg is outrageous.

I admire Clamp for deciding to finish this story. They easily could have writting this until it expired and became a bad zombie-story. But they have respect for their stories and despite them being popular, they decide to spare them the zombie fate. Respect.

Oh goodness, just say no to bootlegs! I've never been a fan of them. Maybe it's because I know that the whole reason they exist is that someone took something legitimate and pirated it, so they're wrongfully getting money for work they didn't do. It's just not right! XO

You know, sometimes I'm surprised Clamp's still around. Way back when I read quite a bit of the Magic Knight Rayearth manga, but I stopped getting the magazine I was reading it in, so that went away. Then it seemed like any time someone was reading a new manga series, it was by Clamp. (They always draw characters that look the same, at least in the eyes. I hated that you couldn't really tell a male character apart from a female!) I probably don't want to know how many manga series they have out now... But it is true it's better to finish something than to let it go into zombie-mode. Series like Ranma 1/2 did that for me. They just never want to end! I never bought such series because even if I liked them, there was just far too much and they were too expensive to buy the whole series!

I'm not as moral as you *laughs* I'll accept bootlegs, but most of the time I prefer buying the real thing. All the bootlegs I own are bought for a cheap price and are series that have never been released in english or whose's rights have been dropped and nobody is picking them up (COUGHT COUGHT COUGHT REBOOT COUGHT). I'm thinking - if the bootlegger is not making huge money and the series is unavailalble, it's ok. But if the series has an official release, might as well support it (so we can get MORE!).

Fansubs are strange that way. They are awesome for fans, but they do kill the business. A company buys the rights to a new series, but fansubs are out already, so people aren't always willing to wait. Then, when the series comes out with prosubs, not everyone buys it because it's so expensive. But it's expensive partially because they don't have that much clientete, partially because of the subs... It's a strannnnngeee circle. Anime is a weird business. It can be very fickle. Hence why so many of the companies seem to die out (and leave some rights unused...) I think this is one of the reasons comics and comic scans are so hard to find online - people protect them better. But I guess Anime/manga as more fans because it's so easily availalble? Like I said, weird stories of dependancy and evolution circles.

For an unavailable series I can understand bootleg, but it really does run rampant. I'm still bitter that the 'legitimate' copy of Disney's Beauty and the Beast I bought on Amazon was nothing more than a bootleg. It looked like the real thing, but just fake enough that I knew the truth. I don't like robbing money from the creator.

Fansubs are an odd thing. People nowadays expect everything to be free. I even chewed out a kid that wanted to get all of the Slayers anime for free and was asking where to download it. Things like that just really make me angry because good companies have gone under for no better reason than people cheating the system and raking in the rewards for it. I personally like fansubs like in the case of the new Slayers anime where it's not out in English yet, and at the time we didn't know if we'd see an English release. Now that we do know for sure, I can't wait to get rid of my fansubs so that I can have higher quality DVDs to watch on the television. (I think another thing going against comics/manga being online is that it's a huge pain having to scan in all those pages! You often have to destroy the spine of the book in order to do so as well.)

*snort* Ping-Pong Head...

Sounds like something people would throw at Ikkaku. /geek

I try to avoid the long runners myself. I stopped buying Inu Yasha after awhile (partially because my interest waned slightly). Of course, I'm fangirling Bleach ATM and who know WHEN that'll end... My wallet hates me...

Of course, higher prices in Canada don't help matters any.

If you don"t want your head compared to various shiny surfaces DON'T SHAVE IT.

Urgh, I stick with the Bleach manga. It's just as long and potentially less expensive in the long run (and much nicer drawings too.)
