Idea for a drawing to allow relaxation -

Theme: young heroes.

I kinda want to make a drawing with heroes who kicked ass before they turned 18. So far I have Sakura (Card Captors), Harry (Harry Potter), Lyra (Golden Compass), Aang (Avatar: TLA). Who else should be in there? Suggestions for minors who whoop-ass?

I though of putting in Alice, Wendy and Dorothy too. However, dorothy is better know for the adult version of her in the MGM film. And Wendy is not so much of a hero. Maybe i'll put Alice and Peter Pan?

I think I would need two more to unleash the whoop-ass. Movies, mangas, anything?

-Isa

EDIT: Chihiro from Sen to Chihiro (Miyazaki powah!), Goku (when young) and lilo?

EDIT 2 - Current list is: Sakura (CCS), Harry (Harry potter), Lyra (Golden Compass), Aang (Avatar), Alice, Peter Pan, Chihiro (Miyazaki), Goku, Dash (The Incredibles), Link (Ocarina of time), Powerpuff girl, Sailor Chibimoon, Sora (KH), Ash Ketchum (*snort*), Coraline, Ozma...

Seems like a pretty awesome list! I'm trying to keep it at one hero per series and under 14.

Link! From the NES and SNES days, when he was just a kid (and in Wind Waker too, I suppose). ^_-

...and my brain is slow. Lina Inverse herself was only about 15 when she faced off against Shabranigdo. (Gourry and Zelgadis don't make the cut.)

Oh! Oh! Oh! Link! YES! Totally. I forgot about kid link! Plus you play him for quite some time in the 64 games.

Because kid Link is awesome (not to mention cute) and very brave for a kid. Must not be tempted to play the game again...

Oop, and while trying to think of someone else I spied something sitting in my room. I don't know if you were a Power Puff Girls fan at all, but they were all technically just five years old. They definitely kick butt (before bedtime)! ^_^

I have to ask about Lina. She was only, what 15 or 16? Unless it's not the idea you're going for, then I can understand.

Lina's a good idea, but i'm trying to aim more at below 14. I think she was 15 or something? I'm keeping her for my drawing about whoop-ass females :D I was thinking of doing whoops-ass females, whoop-ass minors, whoop-ass crossdressers, etc.

From: [identity profile] the-flowergirl.livejournal.com
Oh, ok. That makes sense. I knew there was some reason that you didn't include her, I just was dumb and asked about it.

From: [identity profile] secondlina.livejournal.com
Bah, it was possible I didn't think about her, you know XD I can't think about everything. I'm glad you brought her up!

But I guess when I look at lina her main : (Look at that ______ she's whoopass!) word that comes to mind is more *girl* then *kid*, though she is pretty young...She seems to take offence at being called kid though...

Sailor Moon Ash Kichum, Sora

Sora and Ash are good ideas. Sailor moon is too old...But not sailor chibi moon or chibi chibi.

I would suggest Amu from Shugo Chara since she's about 10-11, but I don't know how familiar you are with her character.

*tries to think of a few more*
What about Wendy, Coraline or Meggie from Inkheart?

Also, Pokota is technically only 12, so he could also count. ^_~

Stu wanted me to add Nanoha from Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha. I realize you've probably haven't heard of her, but she is probably one of the few magical 10 year old girls that can risk BLOWING UP A CITY on a regular basis. And no, I'm not kidding.

I like the idea of Neil Gaiman's Coraline! She's definitly full of whoop-ass!

I'll stick to characters I know since i'm doing this drawing to relax. But thanks!

Yeah, I figured you would want to stick to characters you were familiar with, but I just thought they were worth mentioning. ^_~

I would say probably sailor moon (under 14) and Yuu/creamy from creamy Mami (under 10?)
Waiting for the pic (and the kick ass girls pic w/ Lina).

I think i'm going to go for Sailor Chibimoon. Sailor moon, even though it is said she is below 14, still looks at least 16 to me. But anime gives these unbelievable ages to people

If not Dorothy, I guess you could always use Ozma.

From: [identity profile] secondlina.livejournal.com
Good idea. I like dorothy, but people associate her too much with Judy Garland, who is over 14. But Ozma is good! All ozma versions have been pretty young, up to now.

Maybe in the kick ass female drawing. I already have harry potter in the kid one and i'm trying to keep it at one character per series.

If Pokata hadn't been mentioned, I would have said the anime Amelia. Even though Lina is the main focus of Slayers, the princess can kick serious butt.

From: [identity profile] secondlina.livejournal.com
Amelia and Lina still seem to old in my opinion. It is said that they are 14, but they don't look 14, according to me. I think i'm aiming more at pre-bosom characters.

Laura Ingalls from the Little House series. She was always an awesome heroine to me, and really opened me up to a new world and my love of history.

Ramona Quimby from the Beverly Cleary books. She is all sorts of awesome.

Yahiko from Rurouni Kenshin. He really underwent some awesome character growth and really held his own, doing some amazing things in the Kyoto and Jinchuu arcs of Rurouni Kenshin.

Dorothy totally counts! First, she was still under 18 during the movie (Judy Garland was 16); second, she was around ten during the course of the Oz books, which is where the canon Dorothy dwells. (She *must* be blonde!)

Of course, while Dorothy still looks ten, she's actually something like 120 ... :-/

Wendy was brave, but she was also more a victim most of the time, wasn't she? What about the youngest of the kids from Narnia, who literally kicked some ass? Or one of the siblings from A Series of Unfortunate Events?

Hm ... would Sailor Saturn be a better ass kicker than ChibiMoon?

Sailor Saturn looks older then Sailor Chibimoon to me. Plus I think I would keep her for the Badass!Females drawing.

The thing with Dorothy is that i'm trying to remain under 14 and Judy Garland (which is everyone's main image of dorothy) was still a good 16 as you say. I think i'll stick with Ozma for the Oz badassery. After all, she is kinda more badass then dorothy. Dorothy borrows magic from enchated objects. Ozma is part fairy. That must count for extra badass points.

I though of putting in Lucy from Narnia, but since the second movie I really don't like her anymore. I don't enjoy that movie's *We could use this elaborate plan - or wait for the lion! Yeah, let's wait!* attitude she has. I know it's suppose to show hope and trust and religious belief, but c'mon. The lion didn't show up in 100 years. I would not trust him that strongly.

Oh, I didn't think about the unfortunate event kids. All I know about them is the movie though. Are the books any good?

From: [identity profile] ozma914.livejournal.com
Yep, Saturn is older, although still under 14. But if you're doing a Badass!Females drawing, that's the place for her! :-)

I understand what you're saying about Dorothy; it's just that I'm trying hard to push the book fandom, where Dorothy appears around 10 (and Ozma is, depending on who you ask, over 14 -- but often drawn younger). But let's face it, no matter how hard I work Dorothy will always be Judy Garland in the eyes of many -- and as you say, Ozma is definitely the more badass of the two.

I haven't seen the second movie, so I couldn't say as far as Lucy is concerned. Your description reminds me a bit of "Emerald City of Oz", in which Ozma suddenly becomes such a pacifist that she's willing to just stand around, waiting for her country to be invaded, rather than put up any kind of defense. And she'd invaded Ev just a few books earlier!

The first Unfortunate Events book is great, but I haven't read the others. They would fit, agewise -- the oldest girl is 14. But the youngest is a bit too young!

I don't especially like Judy Garland, personnally. Or the MGM movie. It's too bright when is Oz is suppose to be color scheme. And the characters are kinda dumb. And also, a dream whut? But I guess it was necessary to change things for the movie. I was kinda angry they didn't use a kid. Kids played in musical cinema after all (hello, shirley temple!) so why not? My only love for the MGM movie is the whitches. Green is badass. If you mix in the movie with the book more, the result isn't bad.

I know disney produced Return to Oz some years later. I really love Return to Oz. Unfortunatly, the fan base when all *Hey, why is dorothy young now? I'm so confused!* And they even put in the effort of buying the rights to using the ruby shoes to help with the continuity... sheesh.

I do love the song Over the Rainbow though.

I love Wizard of Oz as a kid's movie -- but it's just not the real Oz, to me. Don't even get me started on the dream thing!

Actually, Shirley Temple was the original pic for Dorothy in the movie, and she would have been much closer to the illustrations from the books. Unfortunately, she was under contract with another studio, and the deal fell through. Also -- just to stay on my theme -- they tried a blonde wig on Garland to try and make her closer to the book Dorothy, before abandoning that idea. Green is badass, though, and used to good effect in "Wicked".

Return to Oz is so much more like the book! No wonder the movie fans were confused.
