The Good news

So yeah...

More and more as time goes by, I really feel I want to be a cartoonist/comic book artist. I love management and I like doing illustration work, but it doesn't compare. So this is going to be my first book and everything in a few months or so. I'm totally excited.

I though for sure it would take 10 years before I get anything on selves. I'm still amazed people thing so highly of my drawings. Thanks to everyone for the support and for coming to read my silly little cartoons everyweek.

So, I'm going to have a novel and a book about canadian multiculturalist published (I didn't write them, but I illustrated them). I also have drawings in magazines (again, no writing). I have a bunch of exhibits in my past, one upcoming for sure with a group of friends in February and i'm trying to get more. I'm gonna have a comic...

I'm trying to get a few things flying too; mainly more exhibits, hopefully a call/email from marvel or that awesome webcomic writer that writes Marry Me. And a novel i'm writing in english with the awesome help of meg, because my english is lame and two heads are better then one.

p.s. I haven't told anyone in proximity (aka ottawa) yet. So if one of my local friends stumble on this post, don't feel left out. I've been working from 10am to 10 pm this week. It makes it very hard to call you guys. Also, i'm a puddle of mucus.

What, that's it? That's nothing new! I already knew you'd become published one day, it's too much a passion of yours not for it to come true. (And you really are that good at it. Much better than I am, but then I haven't studied up on comics as much as you have.)

Reh, I think my art still needed to mature a little (get out of that pesky *ALL I DRAW IS MANGA* phase) and now it's really stronger, more personal and awesome. So now is really a good time for this to happen. 2009 - the year the isa goes to print

*headtilt* What do you mean? Yes, you can have a cartoony style, but I've also seen your more serious work. I think it all depends on the subject matter of the picture.

Only a year ago, even my serious works had an extremly manga and unoriginal feel. Don't get me wrong, I adore manga, but it's so cultural to japan, it felt somewhat inpersonal after a while. My art evolved like crazy in a tiny year. It really refined and I started getting really good at backgrounds (not that you guys see much of the background work, but still). I basically feel a lot more acomplished now then before on a personal, artistic level.

Obviously, I realise i'm saying this and people reply "I would stick a pencil in my eye to draw like you did a year ago, which you call crappy!" But I am a very very difficult critic towards my own art.

You should see all the stuff I drew for the journal and rejected. I don't even post half of what I draw.

Reh, I always felt like a comic artist in the looser sense of the word. I don't think you get the name when you get the job, but I definitly find having a book to my name makes it more concrete to me, personnaly.
