Art & Marketing are my BEETCHES!!!!!!!!!!!!!! MY BEEEEEEEEEEETCHIIIIIIEEEEESSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!

*does the accomplishment dance*
Hahaha!

I got up this morning at 8h30 am with 6 marketing chapters to read and take notes from, an essay to write, some financial stuff to solve, a catalogue to hunt down and an ad for MASC to design.... AND I DID IT ALL! HAHAHA! YES! SUPER PRODUCTIVE DAY OF GOODNESS!

Some of the stuff is a little rushed, but most it was for tomorrow, so I had to cut corners a bit. The essay was the one to suffer the most.
I also finished two drawings this week for class. I swear to go this week was ultra productive!

Most of you know my theme is fairy tales. My current work is about taking all the characters sharing a fairy tale stereotype (like all the sleeping princesses for instance) and putting them in the same frame. The drawings are done in layers; the first layer is a super thick paper with lots of detail. The other layers are drawn on semi-transparent (milky) paper. The first layer gives the drawing a background, a setting and shows all the characters in their own narrative in some cases. The second layer shows the characters interacting. Some drawings have third or fourth layers, those focus on another action by a specific character.

These drawings are the first layer. I didn't take any photos of the other layers since they are all at school right now. The other layers are less intricate drawings though, because of the nature of the paper and the fact that only the characters are present.

Since i'm using layers, I will play with framing and the fonction of the layers, inspiring myself from picture books and stuff. :)

This drawing is the first layer of the "flost in the forest girl" themed work. In here you, have Snow white, two female halfs of "hansel & gretel" type tales, little red riding hood, Alice (in the tumtum forest), the girl of the hen (an unknown grimm fairy tale), the girl without hands and Goldie locks. The empty dress represents the "dead princess" that dies in the woods.

Detail of the work:

This drawing shows the stereotype of characters with important hair like Rapunzel, the girl with golden hair, the girl with stars in her hair, etc. Again, first layer. You might notice I re-used two of my old Rapunzel designs in this picture. I wanted to re-do them because I liked them and that they were alone in the original drawings. Here, together, they make a cool hair-ball group.

Aaaaaand detail! Boom babeh!

Finally, I have this drawing of two lovers... It's not for class; I made it for my friend Fauve's x-mas & birthday (they are very close). I owe her a drawing; she's known me for almost ten years and I never made her a professionnal looking drawing.

I LOVE THE HAIR!!!!!! *addicted to drawing fancy hair*

Anywho, I have other drawings at school too. I just felt like sharing these.
Sorry for the midly foggy pictures, i'm using my brother's camera. Link kidnapped mine to take textures for 3d.

The week of the 18th of febuary is my reading week, so no classes! I plan on framing all my works on that week. Hehehe.

I'm going to go to bed satisfied tonight.

Way to go Isa!!!!

I'm so happy for you. You show that work of yours who's boss.

And I like the lost girls in the woods drawing. I' can't wait to see it in front of me. The details aren't very clear in that picture.

But you really did a good job on the faces of the girl with no hands and the other girl next to her. YAY, hurray for improvement. They look awesome.

Keep it up and you just might have a bit of time to sacrifice for me. Reading week is comming up, isn't it? That way you could get your camera back. ^-^

Anyways, keep up the good work.

*does flagrant hi-five gesture and purrs*
Yeah, on reading week, all my drawings will be at home, since i'll be framing them. You'll be lucky to see them all!

Yeah, I worked hard to eliminate manga from my system. More and more my own style comes to life. I like it! as much as I love manga, it's so commun now... Every webcomic and their mother's has manga style... and my teachers hate it. Though several of them agree I should make a graphic novel someday.

Good luck! Those drawings are awesome.

I think my favorite would have to be the "Flost in the Forest" as well. I especially like the girl without hands and the red riding hood. Good luck with reading week.

yeah, you're more fairy tale savvy too, since you reading lost of things I read (like no rest for the wicked!) this is my depiction of the girl, before her future husband finds her in the forest, while she still has no hands.

A fairy tale I don't know about?! I'll have to crack open the German Grimm book of Fairy Tales I have and see what this is all about...

I really like the drawings (since it's obviously not just one) of all the 'lost girls'. It's amazing how many stories there are of children getting lost in the forest. (I guess it's true parents told the stories to scare their children to behave.) You're missing Sister from the 'Brother and Sister' story, though. ^_-

Sometime you'll have to let me geek out and tell you what the original names were for a lot of these Grimm Fairy Tales characters. Enjoy your reading week!
