Okay, so I would not expect this quite as much, especially considering that I DO have a cinema background, but it seems cartoons and comic books have a stronger emotional impact on me. I guess you never really "cure" from that.

I cried during howl's moving castle too....

*AHEM*

Weeeeelllllll, in other kinda related news,  i'm wondering about something.
What is up with japanese people and surprise kisses?
Seriously!? *flips through gigantic collection of shojo manga* It's EVERYWHERE!
First off, even if I was interested in the guy, if he'd kiss me out of the blue, I think my reaction would be negative and/or puzzled. Not to mention kissing someone by surprise is difficult. You mainly manage it when you are with someone you are used to kiss, because then the couple is actually attuned to each other. Trust me on this people, from my own (and friend's) experience, i've learned that surprise kissing is hard for your brain and your nose.

It IS kinda cool to draw but really...is it realistic...?

And yes, I do know the reality issue is a bust considering these manga have girl transforming into whatever with magic wands and talking creatures, but work with me here.

Other then my usual "What the heck is up with this fad?" question of the week, i've also had a truckload of homework. I'm a freaking stressbal called paradox and I hate it. Stress makes me loose weight. I can see me damn ribcage. Somebody bring me something deep fried and smothered in chocolate.
I'm afraid that my projects won't be as good as I want them to. I really want to give it my all this year. I AM a third year after all, should I not be knowledgable and mature and inspired?

*snorts* sure. Well, I try to be. I really do. University is hard. At first I though "hey, two bachelors at once! Cool! Time saving! How neat is that?"

Now i'm thinking: "AAAARGH WHAT KIND OF PSYCHO LETS STUDENTS DO THIS!? I CURSE YOU ALLLLLLL!"

But despite my eternal grouchiness, depressions, whinings and apparently stomach pains, I know i'll end up doing as well as usual. I just need to vent once in a while and ingest some nutriments.

I'm going to Toronto this weekend. Let's see anyone try to stop me.
I really want a hug.

See you all soon!

p.s. I found some cool Noah/ed FMA fanart on deviantart. It's not the best drawings, but I love the ideas in them.
heehee
*people behind isa roll their eyes and think "Dear god, not another Slayers-magnitude obsession!"*

Everybody does the dancing theme. I might draw one too.

Family traits. Love it.

This one just rocks! Now if the background was a cloud like [profile] ichiban_victory saw, it would be even better!

I tend to find animation and drawings much more emotional than seeing a live action movie, but not always. Maybe because voice actors have to put more emotion in their voices since they can't act with their body we pick up on it more?

That cloud was amazing, wasn't it? I just wish I could have gotten a better shot, but I guess something is better than nothing. (And there's nothing wrong with liking more than one thing. I'm a hardcore Nintendo games fan myself. I've a feeling I'll get sucked into the next Zelda game more than an anime series ever could.)

I guess it then depends fi you're watching a good dub or not. (at least in anime) In movies from pixar or dreamworks though, the voice acting is excellent O_O

I think I like watching subs better, minus for certain series.

I don't think there's anything wrong with liking several things, i'm just mentionning that my FMA obsession seems to be sharing magnitude with my Slayers obsession. XD

Humm...I might steal that cloud and use is a a drawing background XD Can I?

I always prefer to watch something in its native language. Even if the dub is really good, you always lose something. (For instance, the Slayers dub is decent enough, but it seems more comedic than the original Japanese, which has much more emotion in it.) The only time I prefer a dub is when the sub wasn't so great anyway...

Oh, steal the cloud! I don't own it, I just saw it and had to capture it on film before it went away. I do not own nature. ^_-

I personnaly like the slayers dub, because it was one of the first animes I watched, and since I was still new to it, I did not watch the sub. So I got attached to the english voices.

I gotta admit I miss earing Hayashibara though.

It's true that dubs sometimes lack the emotinal quality of subs. Or just the quality of subs period. But, (to play devil advocate here and defend the dubs a little) I think it's important to appreciate the hard work under-paid artists put into dubs. The dubbing world here is not quite as glamorous as japan, so most dubbers here don't get much for their job...they work for passion ^^ (except for big block busters of course, but nowadays, they use known actors for those).

I also noticed that Dubs of certain series (full metal alchemist being one) use sarcasm and irony. The Irony is hilarious and adds to the story. You,ll never find irony in the original japanese though, because sarcasm is considered highly impolite.

So basicly, both sides have their fun ^^ I don't mind watching either, unless the dub is crap (Sadly, the bleach dub is.)

Thanks! I take a lot of cityscapes pictures and even though I don't own the city, I like it when people ask, so I figured I should XD

Hey, don't get me wrong. I adore the voice actors for Slayers, and often if I learn one of them did a voice in another series, I have to listen to it. And there are some series I prefer dubbed. Pokemon and Gokudo, for instance. (I do have some of Pokemon in Japanese, but aside from listening to Megumi Hayashibara I get much more enjoyment from the English version because the actors really did put their all into it. ...I'm just sad the company got new actors...) I've just been subjected to many bad dubs, so it's not my first choice when watching a new series.

Gokudo and pokemon had a pretty fun english dub, I liked it. ^^

I gotta admit, as of late, I tend to go for subs more often, unless I know the dubbing compagny is a good one (for instance, I watched Howl's moving castle in english since disney is the one that dubbed it. It was a pretty good dub aside from a certain odd thing...Why is Sophie the only one with an english accent?)

*waves frantically* Have fun in Toronto! You deserve this break with Link!

I tend not to get emotional at certain things, but I've noticed that certain anime scenes get to me more emotionally than other things. In Rurouni Kenshin, when Kenshin leaves for Kyoto, my throat clogs. Whenever I re-read the chapter where Kagura dies in Inuyasha, I tear up (especially if I'm playing the music from when Kenshin left for Kyoto in the background). During most of the last episode of Slayers NEXT, I spent most of it clutching a pillow (the cats wouldn't stay in my arms) and finally I'm about in tears when Lina and Gourry reunite. I also nearly cried at the scene when Lina cries over Gourry after he's kidnapped. It's amazing how much this moves you, doesn't it?

*waves back* Thanks!

Oh sheesh, at the end of next, I was huddled in a pillow and squealing like a fangirl (quite sad really) which is usually not a habit of mine ^^;;

Wow, now that I think about it...I saw slayers in 1999! It's been a while! O_O I was...14.

I read kenshin when I was fourteen too.

Woah.

These series have stuck with me XD

Yeah, that scene from kenshin made me go "noooooo" I din't cry though. Most likely because I was reading the manga. XD Wet+manga = friend you borrowed it from kills you.

I tend to get emotional for both moives and animation. I think it depends on both the actors/voice actors and also the script. You can have the world greatest actors, but if you don't have a good script it won't work.

As for your shojo question, I guess it's because they romantice things what wouldn't be romantic in real life. They do that in moives too, like a couple suddenlty starts to make out on a kitchen counter top.......No I would not find that fun.

He he! The family one makes me laugh.

I'm thinking for the anime...Maybe it's because I feel a closer affinity for the characters. I mean, when you have followed them for 26 episodes, you feel a closer bound to the character then one you've met two hours ago.

Maybe that's it, maybe I need time to get used to the characters...It makes sence since I watch over and over animation movies.

The counter top idea makes sence. I was watching a movie earlier this year about some retired assassin (I can't remember the name of it, but if I do, i'll tell you not to watch it because it was boring AND disgusting) and during that movie, he started wacking his wife around and then had violent sex with her IN THE STAIRS! Afterwards, they showed that the wife have bruises the size of my forearm. I appreciated the realism in that. I remember an old, old movie where a couple also has sex is a stone starcase like it's the most wondeful thing in the world. Stairs are not for sex in real life.

I know! The family one got a chuckle out of me ^^

Well, I think you should start watching Bleach, so meh!

Do they HAVE to be FMA?

I DO watch Bleah, and I own all the manga up to book 17 (in french), so feh! XD

No, they don't have to be FMA. ^^

French? In Ottawa? I wasn't aware you were French.

I wish I could still READ French.

I'll definately come up with something. Does it have to be me or does it have to be characters? I guess I'm a little confused....sorry.

I say I live in Ottawa because I actually live in a small town close to it. Ottawa helps people know where I am (I live about 20 minutes away, and I attend school there)

My town, Aylmer, is half-french half-english. I'm actually a quebecer, I was born in Québec city and then my family moved to the Ottawa region. I actually speak pretty decent french, and I have a Québec accent, especially when I speak english (some people say it's cute that I can't say words like "the" and "three" correctly because of the "th")

My town is actually technically on the quebec side of the map. I cross a bridge to go to school.

Sorry for the false advertising, but a lot of people go "what?" "where?" "So you're a frog?" When you write down "Aylmer, quebec" so I just decided to stick with Ottawa. Ottawa actually has a lot of french population there too, contrairy to typical belief.

*laughs* About the fanart, I was mainly teasing, but if you make a good suggestion, i'll have to draw it just by principle. XD I can be anything you want really, I even drew stuff I din't know about for earthstar. It helps if I know the series though, so i'll tell you if I don't. If you want fanart about you, I can do that too XD

I think you are the example that all not all Quebecquois hate English speakers...I knew people like you existed!

hee...I love the way people can't say 'th'. I do it all the time, especially since the Irish can't say it and I'm working on getting the accent down.

I think I should dig my French out so I can practice and you can help.

(One question: Do stop signs really say Arrete instead of stop?) (I totally forgot how to spell that.)

From: (Anonymous)
I know a lot of Quebecois who like english speakers (one of my friends is dating someone who can't speak french at all.)
Unfortunatly, my problem is more people who don't like quebecois. I get teased a lot and my locker gets egged or trashed once in a while ^^;;
I personnaly think you should never be judged on your language or color, but on your personnality. (I actually have cousins that are irish, and others that are taiwanese, and they rock ^^)
The stop signs really do say "Arrête" because it is stop in french.

NO, I know it means stop, but my French teacher was being all mean one day and something bad because all the signs couldn't say "Stop" like they did in France...she was a wino, I don't know. I spelled Quebecois wrong, sorry.

Taiwanese? Weird. I'm Irish and Norwegian and German and Italian and French...if that's anything.

I don't agree with that either, but no one can ever be accepted for who they are, unfortunately.

I only don't like people who don't like me first!

Shoujo = unrealistic

The whole point of shoujo is that it's like a soap opera on paper. There is hardly anything in it that is realistic. It's mostly just desires and dreams put out openly on paper.

...

Doesn't mean that I don't like it o.O;.

And you will do well at school. I mean, two bachs at once sounds like death to me, but I KNOW you can do it.

Despite how weird shojo can be, I like it a lot myself. Most of my favorite series are Shonen though (kenshin, fullmetal, slayers, Gummn, etc)

Thanks for the confidence. I'm pretty sure I can do it myself, i'm just gonna have to sacrifice some drawing and fun time.
