Here's the last of my drawings for kids! I'm definitely starting to improve with this color thing.

So, saw the Lion King. I... never saw it in English before. I was amused by the fact that Scar is like the only brittish lion in the whole savannah? Also, Mufasa, you are so cool. Seriously. I never noticed before how much he was present as a dad in the mvoie. as a kid, I mostly remembered the part with timon and Pumbaa. So, I was really honestly sad when he died this time. He's really got the dad voice, figure and style. Aw, Mufasa. You also rock as a cloud. He kinda reminds me of my dad too, which is cool.

Definitely buying this on Blu-ray.

Oh, for all you montrealers - Craig Thompson, creator of Blankets, is launching his new book "Habibi" at the Drawn and Quaterly bookstore on friday at 7pm (click here for details). Since this guy is one of my heroes and the bookstore is like 20 minutes of my house, I really have every reason in the world to go. EEE. This is gonna be fun!

Dude. Seriously, someday if I have kids, or if you have kids, I'd love to take one of these drawings and make a quilt of it! I especially like the contrast of the outlined kids and kitties with the moon and star (sans lines!). I really find them appealing!

The Lion King is still the only movie I've cried the most at, specifically when Mufasa is killed. It was so hard to take as a kid! (I can see why people refer to it as our generation's version of Bambi.)

But here's a fun fact: the voice actor for Mufasa previously (and since?!?) voiced Darth Vader. Kind of cool that he's such a wonderful father in one, and such an imposing (and bad?!) father in another!

Also, you should go to that event. Just do it. You'll be thankful for it later! ^_-

Such cute drawings.

I remember going into the theater when The Lion King first came out. To this day it still remains as one of my favorite Disney pictures.

But...I'm not too fond of the sequels that followed, though. >>;

To answer the first subject - Quilting one of my drawings would be super fun one day. I could draw you one specifically for a kid's quilt, if you can think of a subject you'd like.

Just as Mr. Contrary, The Lion King is one of my least-favorite Disney flicks. First, it was stolen wholesale from Tezuka's _Jungle Emperor Taito_ AKA Kimba the White Lion without acknowledgement (you can find literally identical scenes in each, and numerous people saw Disney animators USING cels from the show when doing the drawing. Yes, eventually Tezuka's estate got to do a beatdown on Disney (in private), but it still leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

Second, it's even creepier than the normal Disney. All the prey animals singing a great paen of praise to the birth of a new top predator that will be killing them all, or -- even if he's gone semi-vegetarian -- leading a huge pride of obligate serial killers.

Despite all the stealing-of-plot (I grew up watching Kimba), I still love it. It sucks that they did that, but I don't think Tezuka himself would have minded. He loved Disney.

They're such cute drawings!

I just saw that the Lion King was showing in theatres again. What's going on with that? I feel like I missed some sort of news there.

Lulz, he really is the only British lion in the savannah! What is up with that? Zazu is British too, but Mufasa and Scar are supposed to be brothers...so what the hell?

Duuuude, Craig Thompson. Man, that guy breaks my heart.

MINE TOO! It's why i'm so excited for Habibi tomorrow.

I guess there's a secret behind Zazu's birth?

So cute! I love the star and moon one, I would totally buy these if I had any kids. ^_^

It is funny how some cartoons will have one random character speaking with an accent when no one else should have it. XP (Did you know the guy that played Mufasa is also the man the played Darth Vader. "Simba, I am your father!" XD)

Soo cute! I think the blue girl sitting on the moon is my fave. Just love it.

Haha, ya, it's weird sometimes in animated movies one or two of the characters will have unexplained accents and everyone else won't.

Mufasa, you were such a good dad! Gah and they're in the field and Simba's like, "we'll always be together, right?"
break ma heart why dont chaaa
I haven't seen that movie in years. I don't know if I can take it lol.

Yes! Especially in, say, a movie that takes place in France like Beauty and the Beast, and the only characters with French accents are the horniest ones of the bunch, a candlestick and duster always sneaking off to make time. Hmmm....

LOVE THESE. Oh my goodness, too cool. They're all amazing, and I'd have coveted all of them when I was a kid, but I secretly still want a big binder so I can cover it with stickers of these. Very very awesome, Isa. I love the last one in particular!

Aw man, you never grew up with that amazing James Earl Jones voice for Mufasa? He really makes it happen in that movie. Makes you wan to pull out your heart and throw it into traffic so you never have to feel again. And I love Nathan Lane as Timon, I can't imagine any other voice for that character. I'm sure the French version was excellent, but I'm glad you liked this one as well!

Hahahah! I could make you a shirt with a swell drawing, as soon as I master my sewing machine, if you want!

Heh. I didn't understand English, so I lacked badass voices! :D But I like both sets.

I love the leaf fairy. She looks like she has a great story behind her.

I saw The Lion King in theatres when I was a kid. The one thing I remember most is sitting in the theatre with a bunch of classmates (including a boy I had a crush on) and trying DESPERATELY not to cry when Mufasa died. >_<
