Remember the days when the Mickey gang was all complexe and interesting? Yes, it happened before Kingdom Hearts.

I've been checking out the gallery of a couple of folks on deviant art (:icontell-me-lies: & :iconcici-chi: & :icontwisted-wind:) who have this great Mickey and Minnie art. Kinda reminded me of these old cartoons where the Mickey gang would go on adventures in differences contexts and epochs. You have art of them in roman times, as vampires, as pirates, etc. It's pretty cool. I wanted to draw my own adorable Mickey and Minnie. So here they are, dressed as the characters from Tangled.

In other news, there was a sale at the art shop. I bought like 6 tablets of paper. I think i'll be able to lock myself in my house and not shop for supplies for a while now. Mwahhahaahah!

This weekend is going to be a bit more rock and roll then usual at work. On Friday, we have a big important meeting with all the librarians on the Montréal island for them to pick books. Then, on Saturday and Sunday, i'll be at the Montréal Comiccon  selling books. Then on monday it's website stuff to be done! So yeah. Hard work ahead. But i'm honestly really motivated. I can't begin to describe how cool it is to love your job. I haven't had this feeling in a while. It makes me so happy. I need to type it out.

So until this big weekend, I plan to make cakes and work on comics. Because yeah. It's what I do.

I saw my friend Caro today. she has been in Africa for 2 and a half months, helping the community (she is a sexologist). I really missed her and I was happy to see her! It was really neat to hear her talk about her experience. She had a lot of growth during this trip. Unfortunatly for her, when she returned, a couple of bad things regarding people and her job hit her. But as always, she takes it with a smile and as a challenge. I really admire how she's always happy and motivated to help people. She's amazing.

Awww, that is such a cute pic!! :D Minnie with Rapunzel's hair... that is pretty darn amazing! And Flynn Mickey! I always love the amount of detail that you get in your art. *fawns* ^_^

Hehe, art store sales are the best. I just got a big paper organizer for myself so that all of the reams of paper I had lying around had a decent pre-use home. ^_^

If it's not detailled, it's not worth doodling :D

Nothing better than buying needed (or needed for future use) supplies on sale! I love when I go shopping and find stuff like that. May the paper keep you happy for a long time to come! ;)

Your friend does sound cool. I suspect that she'll manage to come out on top, what with that positive attitude!

Now I wanna watch Mickey Mouse cartoons from our childhood. ;;;

Awwww, she sounds amazing! I wish I could be in Africa helping people, and I'm in the freaking military!

I really need to finish my Mickey and Minnie artwork too. It's fun to explore the different concepts with them.

It's so great to have a job that you're not dreading to go to, it makes all the difference in the world.

Awww, Mickey and Minnie :) The artists you linked to are awesome! Everytime I see their deviations pop up in my inbox, I just have to smile, because come on! It's Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse!

And I love how you drew her hair, it looks like that really detailed, weight-y looking hair in children's book illustrations that makes you want to pick it up and play with it. xD

That's really cool about your friend in Africa. I just got done with a Cultural Anthropology class and one of our books was devoted entirely to a woman's record of anthropological work in Mali. Do you know what work she was doing down there? It's really fascinating, the kind of stuff they do.

I should try to do some illustrations for kids one day. :D

She was doing social work regarding sexuality and childbirth I believe. It's her area of expertise and all! :D

Oh my god, you should. Your work has a really professional look to it, and you've already got the storybook vibe - I say go for it!

Interestingly, those were similar topics to one of our textbooks this past quarter. It's fascinating to read about the differences in child rearing across nations!

I love Tell-Me-Lies's Mouse/Mice pictures. So cute.

Lovely piece. Nice adaptation of Rapunzel and Flynn to the mice.

Sexologist? That's interesting! What does she do? Therapy for couples? Or is it just general studies?

I commented on the mouse duo on DA, but I do have to say I absolutely love her eyes and the bubble background :P

Sounds like you've got a lot of fun and excitement coming your way at work and the con! =D Can't wait to hear how it all goes!

I think she works with people who have problems (like illnesses or recovery from violence).
