It's weird...Lina is a very happy character, and yet I always seem to draw her in these very sad poses...
God. I. Want. Her. HAIR! >_>
I,m currently working on two things: the slayers booklet and my living room. My living room is being completly revamped, and so far, my dad and I do most of the work (nevermind the fact that I have two strong brothers!)
The whole living room/dining room just got finished being re-painted white. The smell is strong. Most likely because my hair is covered in it.

The slayers booklet is being finished (although not that fast right now. Priority on the house for we are in need of a place to sit and eat) and I still need an idea for a cover page. I'm also calling out to the slayers fans who read here: do you guys want to suggest me a short (8 to 10 comic page aka maybe 500 to 800 words) story to add in? I'm thinking because most of the material is of utter siliness, a good dramatic story would be a nice touch...
Then maybe i'll also make a short art gallery in it too...

I think we see her sometimes in private after a battle. She usualy denies herself the sadness of a situation I think. Like sadness is a weakness. So I guess Lina is a really happy character that's somewhat hiding an incredible amount of darkness and pain (you don't walk around carrying the LON and get away with it unscared even though huge piles of darkness seem to be short-term memory-affecting)

This would be, as you said, probably one of Lina's adjusting moments. I really love this drawing ^^

Reh, I admire fanfic artists. I usually write fanfics bad. It's weird that other people seem to have that sad-lina compulsion as well, even in fanfics (always so serious!)

One artist that does the best "sad linas" I know is probably Eugene Chung. She is a zel/lina pairing supporter and I think pairing Lina with our favorite depressive rock is making the darkness in the character stick out.

I explored the not-necessary sad Lina angle in "Darkstar," but a Lina trying to deal with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder. I'm like you - it fascinated me that Lina never really seemed to suffer emotional consequences of her actions, though I think there's a bit more of that in the novels because it's told from Lina's POV. It's like you were telling me in my LJ, I think Lina has a tendency to bury the bad feelings and not deal with them. "Darkstar" is set roughly 18 months after the Hellmaster Phibrizzo incident and a year to 18 months is usually when PTSD sets in, according to the research I did when writing that part of thr story. I think out of all of the stuff that Lina experienced in the series, Phibrizzo was the most scarring of them because of how he used her feelings for Gourry like an emotional kickball, as well as the fact that he basically killed everyone she cared for right before her.

Whenever she will crash, Lina will crash extremely hard.

Wow, I need to read some more of your fanfics. Where do you put them? they sound pretty well-researched.

Lina is the type of character that crashes hard, and then keeps tumbling down until something or someone pulls her out. Although if she does sink in depression, I see Zelgadiss being the one pulling her out (in a friend way, not a pro zel/lina way by obligation)because lina would not want to involve her more joyous compagnion Amelia and even less Gourry. She would not want to involve Zel either but zel is most likely really good at recongnising repression and depression being an expert an all.

I read Eugene's manga, the watered-down one, and I have to admit, it was really well-done. Zel and Lina is not my favourite pairing, but the way he did it seemed to make sense, in a morbid sort of way =3.

I wish I could be a better writing. The problem with my writing fanfics is that I just end up changing the characters. I'm a really shitty fanfic writer. x.x

Eugene is pretty much the one that mad eme like zel/lina in the first place. However, Eugene is a girl. Eugene is a contraction of her actual name Yuu shin (she's korean I think)

I'd have to check out your fanfic writting capacities. Where do you store the writtings in question?

Whoops. I guess because the name Eugene is generally used for men, I assumed. Assumption is not my friend, no matter how much I try.

My writings are evil. I'm embarrassed by them, especially when I'm around [livejournal.com profile] dqbunny, [livejournal.com profile] zannechaos and [livejournal.com profile] the_flowergirl.
