So, first off, happy birthday [livejournal.com profile] amelia_seyroon ! Have some art featuring the amazing ladies of Slayers. Why? Because, LADIES. And also, because you're part of the people that always make me think of Slayers, and with whom I will always have that fandom in common. So cheers.

On another note, I saw Thor this weekend, with [livejournal.com profile] starmetal_oak . It was an interesting experience. First off, yeah, I pretty much confirmed that I don't like seeing american action movies in theaters anymore. I don't know if it's because I suffer from motion sickness, but halfway through the film, I always feel dizzy and nauseated thanks to the crazy cameras swooshing all over. Gargh. But, I digress. The plot itself was really fun, I liked the characters. Loki was awesome. Thor's little band of warriors could stand to be more awesome though. I mean, aren't you guys the greatest warriors in all the land? Odin's wife kicked almost more ass then you. And she's the goddess of plants. Anywho, the movie is general was fun and about as good as action flicks get. I have to admit, I spent about half the movie guessing what was going to happen in the other half (and I was right). But you don't really watch action movies for originality. You watch them for the action, and the fun characters. And this movie had both these things. And the story itself was very logical in it's own universe. And pretty. Oh god, so much pretty. The men and the special effects were gorgeous. So yay!

I've been talking to [livejournal.com profile] ichiban_victory  a lot lately. Like many others who seem to be giving me feedback on it on deviant art, she has fallen in love with my gender-bent "Beauty and the Beast" idea (this project really needs a title. Too bad I used "Rose" already). We keep brainstorming for ideas, and her being the animal lover she is, she has a lot of ideas on how to make the beast girl move and live. She even made a body chart :

I got my own sketches done too, of course. This is her protecting her "prince", who is actually a hunter in this version.

In any case, i'm kinda sad I won't get to play with this project for a little while. I want to get some comics done for a couple of anthologies first. Booyah.

Oh, Namesake got another review. Check it out!

I like your new Beast girl sketches. Is the one in the corner what she looked like before her transformation, or is it just a random sketch?

So are we gonna see Thor fanart from you in the future, lol?

That's her before the transformaton, yep. I just love braids. BRAIDS EVERYWHERE.

Maybe. I already drew Thor twice in the past. Movie could be more motivation for new Thor stuff.

Braids are awesome!

Aww, I missed the Thor sketches? DD:

Ooh, I love the idea of a gender-bent Beauty and the Beast, especially in that fierce sketch. Can't wait to see more!

Hm... I'm trying to think of names other than Rose... Thorn? Lantana? Er, there aren't a whole lot of flowers out there that have thorns...
I'd also suggest something like Geode to suggest hidden beauty, but rocks don't exactly scream "girly." Hahaha!

I'm really liking your latest designs for your gender-bend Beauty and the Beast.

Geodes are totally sexy, c'mon :P

Well, they can get pretty boring if you aren't into fights and epic running.

hey, BTW, I'm looking for a link you posted some time ago. It was about tips for being awesome or something D:

I love that picture of the Slayers gals! It's interesting that the princesses are the ones wearing cute outfits instead of their normal traveling clothes (was that intentional or just a coincidence?).

Looks like Diane's drawings really helped. This latest picture of Girl-Beast has a much better balance of Fierce and Cute than the other ones you posted.

I've really gone insane with inspiration, but I was being good and haven't shown them to anyone. Maybe if she gives the okay, I'll flood my LJ with all of the concept art... It really is a fun challenge though!

Coincidence I think. I only wanted Amelia in the dress :D Also, aren't they all princesses aside from Lina?

Sylphiel is a noble, but not of princess status. I bet she'd not mind wearing dresses though. ;)

Same here. Though honestly, I most likely will.

Did Thor have a lot of CG? I don't usually get sick watching a movie unless there's something "off" about the CG in a movie. I did fine watching Jurassic Park. I got the worst headache watching Jumanji. If a movie is CG-heavy, I think twice before seeing it. (Although purely CG movies are never an issue. Go figure.)

Sheesh, here I've been good not posting up anything, yet you reveal my body chart! Blargh! Oh well. I have even more doodles, courtesy of a scrap piece of paper I had during my work breaks today. I'll scan it and send it along later.

Oh yeah, I've yet to mention it, but I love drawing her mane of hair. Having it cascade down her back, fall over her shoulder, it's just way too much fun to draw! And as I suspected, your version is AMAZING. I guess my silly sketches are helping? ^_^

Oh, it's full of CGI. Most of Odin's home is that. But the scenes on Earth are pretty CGI-less, aside from the last battle.

If you don't want me to post them, you really should not give me charts lol. I love charts! Your suggestions helped a lot! And yeah, the hair is awesome to draw, it's kinda why I want it to be so long... So much potential.

From: [identity profile] ichiban-victory.livejournal.com
Hmm, so potential headache-flick, got it. I'll have to ask the local friends what they thought of it whenever I get to see them again. (I keep having to work instead of game. Oh, horrors!) No doubt if one of them likes it, they'll buy it, then I can at least borrow it... O:)

I didn't know you liked charts! I just thought you might like a visual representation of the before and after, to better show the differences in her stance. So am I free to post my horrible arts on my LJ? ^_-

(Her long hair really does have potential. I like that you have it braided when she's human. There's some nice symbolism right there: She let her hair down, look out! She's gone wild!)

I really like your gender-bent Beauty and The Beast idea.
I remember watching a youtube video where someone mentioned the sort of 'ugly-beast guy but always pretty girl' stereotype - the whole, "beauty is in the eye of the beholder...as long as the woman is beautiful" thing.
So glad your turning that on its head!

And it looks like I'll have to check out Thor then! It's been a while since I've seen a good action flick (or any action flick really XD)

'ugly-beast guy but always pretty girl' stereotype - the whole, "beauty is in the eye of the beholder...as long as the woman is beautiful" thing.

That always bugged me, too! Same with the old sit-com cliche of "Smoking hot, level-headed wife paired with a fat, slobby, stupid, jackass husband". :P

It's so pervasive that you don't even realize it until it's pointed out (kinda like how fish don't know they're wet LOL).

Basically, The Honeymooners was super popular; so virtually every sit-com made since then ripped it off. The only exceptions that come to mind are I Love Lucy, Roseanne, and Dick Van Dyke.

Yay! You went to see Thor! XD And Loki was so full of win! *squee!* (That in itself makes my heart flutter as I was nervous they would crap on his character) *wipes brow* ;)

Loving beast girl! The protective hover is fab! =D I'm sure you'll come up with an excellent title when the time comes :P

Yeah, I hope the movie met your expectations!

I hope so too because so far, my titles are crap.

They did excellent for keeping up with the original comic line (unlike a lot of the Marvel movies from before) I was pleased to say the least ;)

Oh titles are fun! When writing, making titles for stories and chapters has always been fun to me :)

There's also this writer that did a lesbian version of the story, where both protagonists were female. I wish I could remember the title.

Yeah, i'm super behind on movies myself. Except for animation movies. That, i'm totally on schedule.

I'm trying to send stories to a couple. I'll let you guys know which is i'm accepted :D

You probably know by now how much I go fangirl!crazy (the best kind of crazy!) over Thor, but the more times I see it, the more I am underwhelmed with the Thor/Jane plot and overwhelmed by how pretty Asgard is. XD (And I agree completely re: the Warriors Three. And Sif. They could've been so much more awesome! They just needed more screentime! *crosses fingers for deleted scenes in the DVD release*)

Also, oh man, I love Beast girl--her hands and feet just look so awesome. Can we has more of her, pleeease?

Date: 2011-05-19 07:08 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] secondlina.livejournal.com
Yeah, they really needed some more awesome. I mean, C'mon guys. FREYA IS MORE BADASS. Wow me.

This movie had an overload of pretty.

How about a whole comic of her? It's the eventual plan!

NOW FRIGGA, SHE PULLS A SWORD OUT OF FREAKIN' NOWHERE AND TAKES DOWN A FROST GIANT ALL ON HER OWN. And those four couldn't take down a giant robot! (I love them all but still.)

I just want posters of all the stars. *A*

...that sounds amazing and fantastic and asdhdlk. After Namesake, though, right? :D

It's actually mine. I put it together for her to have a better idea on how the girl would stand as human, as as beast, but I didn't know she would share it! Oh well.
