We have bed bugs.

No offence to anyone, but until I get a hold of an exterminator (read - first thing on Monday morning) and that my house is disinfected, i'm not inviting anyone to my house or visiting anyone. I don't want to spread this by accident. So i'm going to be either very antisocial, or meet people in restaurants and in downtown. I love my friends. I don't want to give them a lousy infestation. 

Argh. And the worse part, I was planning on visiting friends this week. I'm suppose to meet people at a restaurant on Saturday. Since it's a public place, I won't have to cancel that. Whew. I'm glad.

We had bedbugs once in Waterloo. Fire seems like the right solution, but I suppose landlords frown on that. Unfortunate.

Wow. I have heard that bed bugs have been on the rise in the past few years. Motels/hotels are apparently notorious for spreading them. I would be seeking to find out who brought them home in the first place, otherwise the problem might come up again should the 'carrier' revisit where the bed bugs are thriving. Blech! (I've never seen one myself, but I hear all they really do is eat dead skin...which is kind of cool, in my opinion. Nature's little human refuse janitors!)

I look at the drawing and all I can think is, "Oh, for the love of tea!" Zelgadis has been dazzled, it seems!

Nope! Actually, bed bugs mainly eat blood. They sting you in the night, and the bites flare up 12 to 24 hours later. So it's quite uncomfortable.

Oh, actually, I think you're thinking of Acari. It's a similar type of bug that also lives in beds but this one feeds off dead skin, so it's not as annoying as actual bed bugs (most people have acaris without knowing). But some people with lung problems can be very allergic to acaris and need to buy special bedsheets (a friend of mine is)

That news is worth all the SHIFT+#keys in the world. That is such a horrible and gross problem! So many people are getting them though, and it's so easy to pick them up! It makes me weary of ever moving into an apartment complex again, even a NEW one, for fear of them migrating from other apartments.

I'm sorry. On the plus side, my exterminator company said they're testing new, cheaper, and less toxic ways of getting rid of them for good, so maybe you won't need the traditional $1k-3k treatment.

Bedbugs were almost extinct, and then suddenly, the bedbug population rose up again, it's been on the rise since 2000. Nobody knows why. But it's gross!

I'm really good at finding weird couplings and making people find them cool! I must be the only Sokka/Mai shipper in existence...

It's the first time I've had something like this. And sicne I did not see the bugs themselves, I still have doubts that it's real (but the phamphlet I have about them says they are very very hard to find and see and that eradicating them is useless if you cannot find the source... so it's better to call in some pros.

Sorry to hear about your bed bug problem. The worst I have to deal with here is the annual summer ant invasion.
But look on the bright side: Meeting your friends at restaurants and cafés means you don't have to wash dishes after they leave. :)

That Zel/Filia pic is adorable! Believe it or not, I shipped those two a little bit the first time I watched TRY. They had good chemistry together and, if I recall correctly, there were a few scenes where the two of them just sat together and talked (granted, they only talked about business, but still...). I could actually see those two working out.

Mom had some in her bed in the motel we were staying at during vacation and she had words with the management about it. I'm still dealing with the fleas my cat managed to bring in. Thought we got rid of them all, but then he started scratching more and more and then WE started scratching more and more. So I feel you on that.

Yeah, i'm pretty happy I don't have animals for that reason (the bedbugs would have spread to all the apartment quickly!)

I have a pile of textures saved on my computer. some are from sites where you can buy packages, others I picked up on deviant art (a few groups and deviants create textures for you to use) and some I made myself. I'll be honest, I have no idea from which pile this one is... Should have labeled things better.

Oh my gosh. I hope it doesn't get to that level! I live in an apartment, so it's not really going to be the tent. Instead it's going to be this really awkward thing that looks like you saran wrapped the whole place. I've seen it before. It's not quite as cool and is much more expensive. :(

I know its not all that great of news to you, but the day after I found out you'd gotten them, I learned that someone in my apartment building had discovered them in their apartment. Which means theres a small possibility they'll spread. Fail!
