Christmas shopping is NOT the exception. I tried to start early and get it done ASAP. I still try to find cool gifts though ( I don't buy silly whatevers for the sake of having a gift).  And of course, I'll be drawing a ton of gifts too. :D For secret santas and just because I wuv you guys.

I'm somewhat dissatisfied with myself. For some reason, I set really high standards for myself and pretty much punish myself for not reaching them. I manage to feel like a giant friendless loser who accomplishes nothing while at the same time feeling like the world's busiest and well-loved budding artist. It's like my brain is composed of two people. Considering i'm a Gemini that's part artist and part administrative monkey, maybe there IS two people in my brain. And oh, the conversations they must have.

Christmas decorations make me happy. I don't really have room for a tree, but I totally want a bunch of christmas ornaments to hand around (especially glass ones).

I'm looking for new stuff to try eating. Suggestions? Mostly, I want tea flavors.

Man I love food.

Hmm.. I recently discovered the joy of adding some powder mixes to vanilla ice cream to produce different, wonderful flavors like insta-coffee, green tea, chai tea, etc...

Lol - Christmas time is the only time I enjoy shopping, but only if my trips are successful and I'm able to get everyone something I know they'll love. Lately, I've gone the lazy route and have just done gift certificates, which aren't so much fun. Seriously, what kind of Christmas is it if everybody just gives everyone else cash? I want a surprise or two, darn it!

I prefer to get presents too. I just really hate looking for them. I usually just make a list and shop as a storm.

You can always do what some girls from my dorm did. They couldn't have a tree, either, but they found an awesome solution. They cut out a tree from paper, taped it to the wall, then cut out ornaments to decorate it. Even better, they went so far as to make a paper fireplace and stockings as well. It was so much fun walking into that apartment and having that bit of cheer to see! ^_^

As far as flavors go, I just discovered that egg nog with whip cream is really good!

Cuuuute!

Man, I wish I wasn't lactose intolerant. Pascal likes to drink eggnog. and I can't share.

Through a few searches on the internet (amazing tool it is), lactose-free egg nog apparently exists! You ought to check the grocery store next time you're there. I'm not sure if Canada would carry the same brands they do down here, but it's encouraging to know such things exist.

If all else fails, there are lactose-free egg nog recipes online as well. For some crazy reason, they include alcohol... ;)

Lactose-free eggnog? Does it have soy milk in it? Because eggnog is basically milk and eggs. *laughs*

One of the kinds was made with soy milk. I honestly have little knowledge on the stuff since I inhale milk any chance I get. I've never tried the alternative...well, except for the one time a customer ordered an egg nog latte with soy milk. It was kind of grainy, but not bad... Then again, I was mainly tasting egg nog!

Tea-tasting things

Try marinading chicken with green tea, ginger and garlic.

You should see if you could hang a bunch of glass balls around your windows. That could look pretty. Also, no reason you couldn't get a mini tree for your apartment.

Why not try getting hot apple cider? That's always a nice change from tea.

I like the glass idea. I love them! :D

Ooooh. Cider. We should totally drink some of that when you'll visit.

Christmas shopping is rough because most of my friends/family are hard to shop for. And giving gift certificates/cash feels like a cop out.

The kind of schizophrenia you described seems to be fairly common among artists. Almost every artist I know (myself included) has felt that way at some point. So you're not alone in your insanity.

*curls up in a ball*

*offers you a patch of blanket*

I totally understand on both fronts. I hate giving gifts because I always feel as if what I give isn't good enough, so I pester to get ideas in order not to mess it up. I always feel so obligated to give people presents! I'm probably doing it wrong.

And at the same time, I feel like my writing is stupid and needs to die, and yet when I get reviews for that same writing, I feel like I'm doing something right (I almost wrote "write", lol). It's confusing!

*goes in blanket with you*

I sorta gave up on finding the perfect gifts for people. I just try to find cool stuff.

Urrrgh. I hate that whole am doign it right/wrong debate you get when you create. If only it wasn't so hard.

I think I'll take my parents out to dinner as a Christmas present. I never know what to get for people anyway. :(

I dunno about tea, I like raspberry and blueberry, but that's the iced kind.

(French Vanilla or caramel hot cocoa is always good though.)

Hey, that is a good idea. A nice evening out.

You could hang some of the tinsel around the place and hang ornaments from them~ This is the first year we get to have a tree, haha!

And I know what you mean about shopping, guh. I'm almost done shopping, but my sister keeps saying how she spent SO MUCH on me, so I end up buying her more things.... ffff. Doesn't help that my mom always says she doesn't want anything. D:

Tea... hmm. Roasted green tea is a fave of mine. I also really like Jasmine and Rose teas.

Family is the worse. My parents don't want me to spend for them and they always try to give me money. Bad parents, bad! :D

I think I should try a rose and orange tea... is sounds...it sounds like Rapunzel, actually.

Considering I'll be fully immersed into a completely new and foreign culture that is Bahrain, I'm looking forward to trying out their foods.

And I'm looking forward to seeing how they celebrate Christmas.

I'm not a fan of christmas shopping either, mostly becasue I'm way too broke to really get anything worth giving and am not creative enough to make something. I might jsut get my mom something and call it a day...
