As promised to [livejournal.com profile] snapdragon76  and [livejournal.com profile] lycorne , my next nostalgia-themed fanart is Rainbow Brite.

I tried to keep the characters in their original hair and costumes instead of "updating". I learned quickly everyone had "Toph" hair (think she invented the hair ball? THINK AGAIN). This is basically all the color kids, plus Rainbow Brite, Krys, Moonglow, Stormy, Brian, Baby Brite (who turns in the Sphere of Light), Starlite the horse and On-X the robot...horse.

Everyone kinda always forgets about poor Brian, the human who was given a key allowing him to visit and see Rainbow Brite. You know, I always though it was amusing when a male character was given a magical key in old tv shows. Especially to go visit a girl. My mind always went the way of the dirty metaphor. I'm sorry.

If you're looking for a good place to refresh your memory about the characters and the episodes, be sure to check it out here :  http://www.rainbowbrite.net/

This took a long time. didn't really work on much else because of this, but I've been feeling sick since Friday morning. And relaxing drawings are good to keep me occupied without killing of my energy levels.
Hey, Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga'Hoole is coming out soon! This movie's trailer is composed mostly of epic shots of epically flying owls in epic armor. But I haven't heard much about it. Does anyone know how the reviews are? I mean, aside from people going "ooooh, shiny!"

Who doesn't know about Brian? My favorite episodes involved Brian! I came across an interview with the woman who voiced Rainbow Brite back when she was a kid and it seems she and the boy who voiced Brian got along very well. ^_- Personally, I saw nothing wrong with Brian being able to visit Rainbow Brite. It was pretty apparent he liked her.

Also, Starlight is still the coolest horse ever.

I know nothing about the Guardians of Ga'Hoole aside from it being based on a book, and I really want to see it. I like movies about animals...but this is made by the same people who made Happy Feet, and that movie was a bit bland to me. I'm hoping this one is better.

Shy Violet was always my favorite. She had glasses and loved to read, which equaled instant win in my book. I should rescue my dolls from my mom next Alabama visit.

Oooooh, Rainbow Brite! My favorite was the Indigo girl.

I saw the trailer for the Guardians movie... And discussed it with people at work. We were all perplexed. Mostly by the fact that someone would make an epic-ish-looking film about owls.

I loved Indigo too! :D And Stormy. She was MY favorite.

Well, it's based on a decent book. So I dunno. They aren't the first to do epic owl animations though : http://www.weebls-stuff.com/songs/Owls/

I always liked the orange girl (I forget her name.) You know, the show itself was very clever when you consider the cast of characters they had. I still enjoy to rewatch the starlight stealer movie. Where else can you find a villain who basically just wants the universe's biggest for a piece of bling. XD (Reminds me, I saw awesome rainbow yarn at the craft. Makes me wish I could think of something cute to do with it.)

If you find any good reviews, let me know know. I've been debating if Stu and I want to go to it. I know it's based on a book series at least.

Stormy was full of awesome. I loved her horse and the fact they always rode in on thunderstorms. XD Plus, she was a bit of a brat in contrast with the rest of the perky kids - which was cool to me back then.

The pics look great! These kids sure had a lot of hair volume, didn't they?

Is it kind of sad that it actually hasn't been that long since I've seen the movie and a couple of episodes? ^^; A friend and I went on a nostalgia trip after I signed up for Netflix.

...pis après qu'il part tu lance un regard noir aux cons. XD

Ouais, je me suis dit que ça allais pas être super-ultra-mortel, alors je suis restée chez moi. Sortir malade pour quelquechose de juste "correct" ça me tente pas trop.

Too fun! Nostalgia rocks! This has me thinking of other 80's cartoons like Inspector Gadget! :P

Oh Legends of the Guardians looks so awesome! Definitely going to check that one out!

Oh, man, Rainbow Bright.... I have an oldschool doll of her somewhere, as well as a newer released one. I guess that's a little odd, collecting the versions as they come out. xD

Loooove the pictures<33 So colorful!

Holy crap, right in my childhood! I really wish I could find episodes somewhere. All I have is Rainbowbrite and the Star Stealer. I wish I remembered something about the moon girl, because I love her design.

Yeah, I'm betting this is what got me into Sailor Moon later. :D

This makes me want to redraw my 2007 Rainbow Brite 20-years-later character designs. Brian is sadly unloved by the surviving fan artist base.

My favorite was Canary Yellow... Simply because I was still blonde when RB was on TV. Small child logic, like the one you look like. Later on I loved Stormy for being the grouchy kinda sarcastic one.

Dude, I used to have a bit of a crush on Krys, lemme tell you.

Ahhh, this makes me so nostalgic for the days o' my youth!! Ahhh, what innocent times. Before I had to grow up and be all responsible and all. I think Peter Pan was onto something...

And I am really looking forward to the Legend of the Guardians movie. I know nothing about the book series on which it's based (mores the pity), but the animation looks totally kick ass!!
