Ah, Inception, Inception, Inception.

Good movie.

I though the idea behind the story was pretty good. This is obviously Christopher Nolan's brainchild. Him and his team put a lot of effort in and the results were good.

What I liked :

Okay, the confusion between dreams and the reality was awesome. The music was awesome (Edith Piaf???? REALLY??? OMG). The idea of "totems" as elements to guide you (decide if you are in reality or not) was also really neat. I also adored the "Dream Team". All the characters were solid, hilarious or cool. Mal is scary as hell. And I thinkt hat was great. She was a "nightmare" and needed to be scary. Also, she was played by Marion Cotillard, who is a french actress I adore. She's sexy as hell. Va-va-voom! I am now a shipper of Athur and Ariadne. Because they rock. Thank you, Ellen Page.

So, good scenario. good characters. Good music. Nice special effects. The usual makings of a great movie.

What I didn't like :

Oh, Christopher Nolan. I like this director but his formula is always the same. Intricate and complex opening, action-packed-Americanized middle and neat ending. I would have taken the middle with a bit less James Bond and a bit more weird. You're in a dream, after all. I get that dreams need to look and feel real for the subject to gravitate in them... But I was sad that the dream's "protectors" were not more surreal and immortal-like. But then that might have fallen in the realm of the Matrix. And also made it easier for people to see what is a dream and what is not. So I guess it's okay. I still would have enjoyed more surrealism. A lot more. The opening was so promising for surrealism. We got a lot in the final parts of the movie. The Limbo world was nice and intricate. I guess I was hoping for more then the usual mook-killing-click-beating-stress-or-death type of development. It's still a good movie. But I was hoping for a bit more. They did have a fight without gravity. That was cool.

I liked Mal but I felt Ariadne took on the role of the "team chick" a bit too much. But I feel Nolan has problems creating women. Reh. Mal was pretty awesome, so it kinda makes up for the few weaknesses in Ariadne's character.

So generally, it's fun. It's not really a mind-screw like most people seem to think it is. But it brings in interesting elements for action movies. If action movies can start all being this good, I would love that.

Aside from that, new week starting. I've got a busy week ahead of me. And a busy weekend too. I'm feeling stressed again. I have the nasty habit of wanting to give my 100% everywhere. It's like I can't accept situations where I "fail". Like not being able to go see someone because I already have plans. I just start feeling guilty. A lot guilty. Self-inflicted guilt. What is wrong with me?

Namesake pages are advancing well. I even started drawing art for internet ads. You know, to advertise the webcomic. Here are the non-colored, non-cropped version :

I like these because they are mostly designed to be vertical, but can be easily adapted in horizontal banners.

Each banner would have a different character and tagline. I'm hoping people will like them.

I never imagined making webcomics would be this stressful. I keep worrying about not being able to follow a schedule.

Whew. Only 5 weeks until the launch of the Namesake website. 5. Weeks. Eeek. I know it's a dealine I put on myself and that I can totally move, but I still prefer being able to make the original deadline.

Funny thing about Marion is that she played Edith Piaf herself in another movie ("La vie en rose". Awesome movie. See it!). They almost changed the soundtrack but Hans Zimmer had already made most of it, so he said no XD

Gah. Marion Cotillard! Why are you and your accent so sexy? It's not even funny.

Needed less c4 and more mind screw.

Awwww. Thanks. I,m often told composition is one of my strong suits. I don't even know how I learned that. I'll trade composition for your inherent talent to draw sexy ladies. I need more sex appeal.

She did have a depressing life but the movie kinda makes it seem okay-ish. Sorta. It's a good movie anyways.

I disagree. Your Azula is om-nom-nom-tastic.

I'm getting really excited for Namesake. If you have to push it back though, do so. (I did the webcomic thing once-upon-a-time) and it is very hard to keep schedule.)

I love the sword/book stabby image. Also, I cannot put my finger on why, but I already just adore Warrick. He's just squishable.

I will push it back if it's needed. Better to start off right. But I really want to reach the deadline. To prove I can. I wanted to draw 25 pages - 15 to be put on the website (so the archives aren't empty when it starts) and 10 to have a 3-week advance.

I have 9 pages done so far. What is pulling me behind is drawing all the other stuff (like these banners)

This is still ,despite all the stress, oddly fun!

Warrick is so squishable. I predict he will have many, many fans.

I think those ads will do the job nicely. They really catch you're eye, especially the sword stabbing book one. Good luck with finishing the pages. Worse case, you can just push back the date, it will be worth the wait. ^_^

Aw, thanks for the encouragement.

Also, why do you all like the stabbed book? I blame harry potter! XD

Because it makes the book bleed, and thus makes it a creepy book. You throw blood and it will make anything turn creepy, even kittens! XD

I still think Jack and Warrick are hot. :P I shouldn't be lusting after our own characters.

I really need to see Inception at some point.

Omggg, I love the adds! WARRICK<333 (I might be a bit of a fangirl for him already, lol)

And I'm sure you'll do fine with the schedule<3 Most people are patient if you need to take a week to catch up or something.

Warrick appreciates your fangirlism. He really does!

The schedule is more of a personal goal. I,m sure people will understand. But I still want to shoot for it. Because I can.

I... I feel so alone...

The thing is, the more and more I think about inception, the more I hate it :\

I should make an elaborate review with screencaps...

I wasn't a big fan of the middle of the movie. I do wish the dream world would have been more trippy. But I did enjoyt he characters. I'd be curious to read your review!

I particularly love the stabbed book one because it's a modernized version of the Tenniel illustration of Alice with the cards at the end of Alice in Wonderland.

I think I spoiled myself too much to details of the plot before I saw the movie (though that didn't stop me from enjoying it) so as I was watching I kept trying to determine which scene were in a dream and which were in reality. But even then it was hard trying to distinguish the two, especially with some of the more exotic locals they used. I'm not familiar enough with Nolan's movie to comment on his style (no, I have not seen the Dark Knight OTL) but I do agree that Mal is scary as hell. It's her eyes I think; the actress really got the haunted look of her character down.

Never seen the dark knight? It took me a while to see it myself. I have trouble seeing Nolan movies in theaters. Too big, too loud. Inception itself made me feel a little sick (I have motion sickness so sometimes seeing movies gives me that. It's so strange!)

Oh man, I hate that guilty feeling too! Especially since this new job, I feel like if I mess up, something really bad's going to happen! :\

I love that big fat cat in the second pic!

Urgh. The guilt. The self-inflicted guilt is the worse. You're just making yourself feel bad over nothing.

That would be mister Cheshire cat. And I love him fat!
