Yeah. It's Saturday. Which means it's "Isa draws a big fanart to test out capacities she doesn't have" day. URGH. I wanted to test out detailed characters over a painterly background. Yeah, the result is a bit "meh". Oh well. Maybe if I didn't test out a sunset at the same time, the result would have been better.

It's Aang, Tenzin (their kid in the new series) and Katara being nomadic and cute. I'm sure Appa and Momo are flying around somewhere in the background. I loved photos of Tibetans with colored clothing and baby wraps climbing mountains, so I tried to do something with about the same feel.

EDIT : Changed the version on top. The original had a "sunset tint" on the clothing that made everyone ask me why Aang's arrow was pink. To see the tinted version, click here.

[livejournal.com profile] earthstar_chan  and [livejournal.com profile] gullwhacker  are no longer visiting. They went home. It was a fun week. We mostly hung out and visited a few cool parts of Montréal. And an interesting exhibit at the museum of science about sex. It was an educational exhibit, but me and [livejournal.com profile] earthstar_chan  are still traumatized by the antique vibrator. Behold :

Yeah, that's terrifying. For more "fun" examples, visit http://www.vibratormuseum.com/

I guess i'll leave you guys with these frightening images. It's time for me to eat. Eat bacon. Hmmmmm. Bacon.

Weird post. Avatar cuteness, followed by evil technology, then bacon.

Those antique vibrators were once used by doctors to relieve diagnosed anxiety problems in women. That's one way to increase the number of patients in your practice!

Sorta. It's still very invasive. I,m guessing a few women didn't like having their doctor do that sort of thing.

No doubt about it; certainly they walked in with more than a little trepidation. But considering how constrictive society was back then, a lot of them probably ended up with a pleasant surprise.

I dunno man. Assuming it's fun because an orgasm is involved may not be true. You're hysterical, and the doctor "knows" what you need, and pulls out something that vaguely looks like a gun and asks you to open you legs (asking with male nurses sometimes involved?). Doesn't sound like fun to me. Sounds a lot more like rape.

I saw a show about it on the history channel, of all places. The women weren't dragged kicking and screaming to the doctor, and generally, they weren't really hysterical: It was one of those catchall terms used to describe a whole group of mysterious "women's" ailments, and it appears most of the women were more than happy to go back for follow-up appointments. What it boils down to, apparently, is that the men of the time were ignorant of how to please women in bed, and also didn't care -- not all that unlike many of the men of today. Imagine a researcher these days announcing that, say, occasional depression could be solved by really good sex, except of course they couldn't be so blunt as to put it that way back then. How the doctors felt about it I don't know, but if the interviewed researchers are correct, it was quite popular with the ladies.
