I like fullmetal alchemist. I watched the first series. A part of the brotherhood one and read about 20 books of the manga. I still read the manga as it's translated to french (we are up to the 24th book. I'm a little behind).

I love the characters, and both versions of the story. Then again, I'm the type of person that really appreciate all versions and adaptations of stories (like "Howl's Moving Castle" for instance) because I like to see the different ideas people can bring. That's why I also adore fairy tales.

However, I have to admit, I was pleased to see the manga's ending was a happy one. I caved, despite not being up to that point, I read the last two chapters online (tantalizing posts and art by people is tantalizing!) I was very happy and moved by the ending. I prefer this ending to the bittersweet ending of the movie "Conqueror of Shamballa" (even though I found the idea of our world being beyond the gate kinda cool).

Happy frolicking characters are awesome.

I'm still sad that Edward lost his alchemy. Al and Mei are my new fandom. And I officially declare that, since Alphonse and Edward are classy english names with french equivalents, Winry and Ed's kids should have similar names - I dub these kids "Louise" and "Leonard". Because it's awesome.

Now that I know FMA has a an ending, i'm more inclined to buy the book myself rather then just borrow them from my brother. Inuyasha and Bleach caused me to spend more money then I wanted on books. At least with FMA I know it's a good story with a limited amount of volumes. And pretty art.

Goodbye, Fullmetal cast. Thank you for entertaining us in your various existing storylines and formats. We'll miss you.

- Isa

Is it the worst or the best?

Yes. Yes it is.

(Can you tell I love the mathematician's answer? And that confession was hilarious.)

The confession itself was all about equations.

The story is pretty solid too. It's part of my top 10 of animated series.

Eh. I should draw that one day. A top 10.

I thought it was one of the better endings I've seen in a manga. I thought it was nice how Edward and Al still remembered Nina in the end. It's sad Ed lost his alchemy, but on the other hand it's appropriate too, especially for getting Al his body back. Overall, it was a good ending and I'm curious to see what the other comes up for her next one.

Nina. Oh, Nina. The first time I saw her story (in the first tv series) I cried. Even when I read the manga and saw brotherhood and saw pretty much the exact same SCENE I almost cried again. Poor little girl.

I'm curious too. I hope she has good ideas for her next one. I'm sad whenever an author I like turns out to be a one-hit wonder and never does anything else. Even MORE sad when they do, BUT IT'S NEVER TRANSLATED! (Cough cough mangaka of "Emma" cough cough is an inking god cough cough translate her stuff please someone!)

Or the Lost Universe novels by Kanzaka. I've always wanted to read the other series he wrote. @_@ Quite frustrating.

Is this what you mean by the Emma manga series? I know this hasn't been translated offically yet

It does. The drawings are the inking is incredible.

There's talk of it being translated to french soon because it's a top seller in japan.

The names are awesome! :D I DECLARE IT.

It's a "Babies ever after" type of ending, but meh, this time it's done in a cool way.

GAH! I couldn't resist spoiling myself! >_<

I'm glad to see that the manga (and I assume, Brotherhood as well) has a happier ending than the Shamballa movie. The whole "our world lies beyond the gate as an alternate universe" concept was cool. But I didn't like how Ed and Al were forced to leave behind all their friends and the world they grew up in to live in an awful place like WW2 Germany. Even if Ed did get a hot Gypsy girlfriend out of the deal.
Shamballa also handed Winry a raw deal. Poor thing lost her parents, Ed, and Maes in the series. And then Ed comes back just long enough to drag Al through the gate and leave her behind forever! It sure sucked to be her! :(

I'm following Brotherhood on Cartoon Network (where the episodes have FINALLY stopped feeling like reruns!). And the differences from the first series have made me very interested in the manga.

Yeah. Everybody got the raw end of the deal in the Shamballa movie. Except maybe the gypsy. And I even read this fanfic where she was sent to a concentration camp (Isa's response to the fanfic : WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU FANFIC WRITER? LIKE, NO.)

Even the rerun episodes are all a little different. It's fun to watch :D

Yaaay! Kids names are approved as awesome!

I wanted to do a prettier, colored drawing of the "new" Elric family. Probably do that when I get home next week.
