Xmas report

Here's a drawing i've been working on, it's Persephone (yep, from the greek myth. Wiki it if you don't know it, it's a good read...). She's actually a character in Psychopomp, that underworld-undead romance thing I told you guys about. She's part plant in the story. Seemed fitting and added to her a soft level of creepy. She's much softer then other characters. I love her!

So, Christmas is pretty much over for me (I go back to work tomorrow. Though I have the first of january off...)

In the end, I was pretty sick for the holidays. I went down to see my parents for Christmas eve, but I was too sick to visit my extended family and spent the rest of my days off hanging out with Link. The sickness is weird - my throat seems infected (it's swollen) and I have trouble breathing (but I only have a soft cought... it's weird... It hasn't cleared up yet, and if it doesn't in the next few days, I might go to a doctor's since I find I have trouble breathing when I sleep.

Me and Link got a call from our friend and former roomate Marco. He's been in Japan for quite some time. Apparently, he pretty much feels like never coming back.
He invited us to visit. We could visit Japan and not have to pay for lodgins in Tokyo (which is by far, the most expensive part of the trip. This news made me really excited. I seem to be collecting trips to-be-done this year (Florida, Japan, and maybe elsewhere even?) All this wannabe adventure seems to have given me a bit of a boost. My "Meh" attitude towards drawing that had settled in as of late seems to be clearing up. Maybe I just needed some adventure?


Time to take some medication and off to bed with me!

Japan should be one of the Navy's stops, I'm excited if I end up being stationed there. 8D

A bit of adventure never hurts. I'm glad that I took advantage of traveling when time and money permitted (meaning I want to return to that side of Canada one of these days, but I still think it would be awesome if you and yours visited the western side). It's great to meet new people, see new places, just experience a different way of life. And, if anything, it helps one appreciate what they already have.

I can't say it will do the same for you, but adventure also rekindled my dying drawing skills.

(But get healthy! Nastiness is really running rampant right now.)

Do I earn coolness points for knowing who Persephone and her husband are? ^_- Her being half-plant is rather appropriate, really, but it would make her married life all the more miserable being cut off from the world of life-giving light.

Persephone is the daughter of Demeter, Goddess of Plants, so perhaps that accounts for her vegetable parts.

Yep, I know, but I was referring to the fact she was taken as Hades' wife, and given that Hades dwells in the Underworld it's not exactly an ideal location for anyone or anything plant-like to thrive properly.

(I'm a well-read nerd on Greek Mythology.) :D

Adventure is awesome. Especially when it takes you to JAPAN!

I think I mostly needed a annual goal to motivate the drawing skill. Poke them into submission.

Sorry to hear you're feeling under the weather. Hopefully things'll clear up soon. Being sick over the holidays is no fun at all!

That's so cool! My husband and I want to go to Japan someday too -- that is our ultimate vacation goal lol. I hope you are able to go and enjoy yourself. <3 And I hope you feel better! D: *hugs tight* Please do go to a doctor if you don't get better in a couple of days. I've learned from experience that secondary infections are worse the original one and can sneak up on you without you realizing it's there.
