Too much talk of Labyrinth in the last post (Oh, Jareth, you fiend, you.) I really like how this drawing turned out.

I've been taking a break today. I went to take a copy of ROSE to the owner of the Comic Book Shoppe. He seemed to like it! Yay! Positive. I also decided to take an evening to just draw with my copic markers. It was fun and relaxing...

I drew a cool Princess Tutu fanart for a fanart exchange on the Tutu themed Lj...

I also did a bit of character design. Now that ROSE is over I feel like my brain is overflowing with a million other comic ideas. And character designing is one of my favorite parts of creating something. This is for a little idea I had with bird-themed characters. Obviously, there will be a crow, but I didn't draw him yet. He's too awesome to be drawn in a way that does him justice XD.

I'll be careful not to overwork myself with all the comic ideas. I really hope I can find an okay-paying job in Montréal that could allow me to draw more (perhaps something part-time or at least with Fridays off?).

Tomorrow, I must buy food so bad! I've been out of food since last Thursday, but I didn't want to buy any then since I was off to Montréal for the launch during the weekend. And I let it drag on up to today out. Urgh. Isa. Need. Food!

On a final note, something really cool happened - one of my cousins has a learning disability. He can't really read thick texts, or remember much from it. My aunt has a bit of problems getting him to read. But this cousin read ROSE - that was wordless - and actually understood it better then all the other people in the room. He explained the drawings to people. He got the concept. And liked it. My aunt was really, really happy. And it makes me happy too. This is just one of those little motivating moments of awesome...

GAH! FOOD! TOMORROW!

THIS IS NOT HELPING! I am definitely watching Labyrinth when I'm moved into my new apartment! The need must be met!

..and yeah, it's bad not to have food. I did that in Florida and it was awful! I lacked a car so I walked fifteen minutes to the grocery store, then fifteen minutes back with my arms weighed down with whatever I got. It's so torturous to be starving yet having to walk with food you know you can't properly eat until you get back to your place. XP So..go get food! Something tasty at that.

The bird people look cool. I've been playing too much of Metroid so my initial impression was that they looked too much like humans, nothing like the bird-like Chozo. But oh well. (Actually, the Chozo are really cool looking! Too bad they're supposed to be extinct.) You better make a crow character, too! We have none of these birds here on the West Coast so they're all foreign to me. ;) Even our Blue Jays are actually Stellar's Jays. The Eastern half of the continent has some very bright birds though... Any plans for an eagle or maybe the classic Canadian goose?

In regard to the cousin with the learning disability, the cool thing about it is that the human brain does find ways to compensate for something. In this case it sounds like your cousin is very visual which is a good thing. I would bet he's better at reading people than others, a skill that'll serve him well in life. Much as I do love to read, it is overrated sometimes. Besides, reading with pictures is twice as good as just text alone! I'd never have been able to read foreign comics without the aid of pictures to clue me in to what was being said.

These bird-characters are actually going to look pretty human. Dove is actually a Dove who lost her bird body and is now in a human body and the two guys are actually princes that got turned into birds (they will actually spend most of the story in 'Tiny Bird format' rather then human or half-human. I'll try to include a lot of weird and interesting birds. I love birds! Fun to draw!

Mwahahahaha...the powah of the eighties compels you!

So the question must be asked, is she a mourning dove? O:) (They have very haunting calls so early in the morning.) I see from your comment below you intentionally incorporated elements from stories like Seven Swan Brothers, so I won't ask. I think that's really cool! (And birds are a lot of fun to draw. I especially like crested birds because it's easier to show their mood than a non-crested bird. I notice you're choosing crested birds so far! Is it for that same reason?)

Hey, I love me my eighties! It was so full of imagination! I'd like a Ludo plushie...

I haven't decided what type of Dove she is...maybe she could be XD I chose crested birds because they play the roles of princes and princesses and the word crested kinda reminded me of crown XD

I think you'll like this story. This is definitly the most family freidnly project I have (except for the villain Rorthbarth...He's scary as hell!) I think it would make a small, fantasy oriented, colorful fun to draw webcomic. I definitly see myself investing a bit of time every week in this. We'll see. Like I said, I have like a million projects!

Did you know that they made a sequel to Labyrinth in comic form? (Actually, they're calling it manga since it's being released by Tokyopop, but I prefer to call it comic. XP ) The plot's a bit slow at first, but then it really picks up in Volume 2. They released only one volume each year and there's just one more left to go.

I like the bird designs. The dove is my favorite. Any chance you're going to do a sparrow? They're cute little guys.

Maybe! Sparrows are fun. Hey, he might be a pirate (obvious lol).

I'm still working out the kinks in the idea (and by kinks I mean...giant dents and gaps). This is kindoff an idea for a webcomic. Basically, the story speaks of a girl that used to be a Dove, but awakens in a girls body. She is found by Baba Yaga, the witch with the chiken-legged hut, and told that Baba Yaga was keeping an eye on her and on some other people for a collegue. She tells Dove that her collegue exchanged Dove's bird body for the body of a princess he loved, to convince her to love him. Dove wants to help the princess and return to being just a Dove, so she escapes from Baba Yaga's hut (with the help of two prince-turned-into-birds present in the hut) and goes on a quest to find the princess. The story mixes elements from the Last Unicorn, Swan Lake and the Seven Swan Brothers.

That sounds cool! I would definitely read that if you do make it into a webcomic.

By the way, I meant to add, that's nice that your cousin was really able to enjoy Rose. That must be a good feeling for you. ^_~

We've had to stock up on drinks. It sucks when there's nearly nothing left to drink in the house and the weather is scorching. DX;
