I always was amazed by that scene in the actual anime. I though it would be cool if it was still Zel protecting Emile in the genderswitchy version. Obviously, if zel would have been a girl, they probably would have switched around in the tv series, but I still like to think she would have been a girl badass enough to willingly take a hit like that.
It would have been cool is Amelia would have been a guy. Male healers in fantasy teams are so rare.
