Today was the earth day, Even Google said so. And what better way to celebrate earthday then a picture of Toph earthbending?

What amuses me with fantasy series is that even though magic kinda encourages the big bad ultimate bad to rage on in the universe, it also promotes a more ecological lifestyle. Rather then invent a new way to do something with mecanics, you kinda adapt you're magical ability to your needs. I was always fascinated by stories that put magic against mecanics. Both lifestyles had good parts and bad parts. I think if our world would have had magic, we would have had a similar conflict.

So yeah, earth day, respect the planet. She's tough but she needs a hand. I try to do my part by recycling, closing the lights and such and re-using paper (big big thing for artists!). However, what I would really like would be for people to stop testing nuclear bombs and weapons. It's like...instant giant pollution for nature and scary cloud of doom for human nature...

We gotta help our planet, in real life we don't have Sailors to defend it!

(and yes, i'm about a million years late for a pluto-is-not-a-planet joke.)

As always, loving the art. The Pluto joke is spiffy, even if late. It works well for Earth Day. (In case you missed it, the Google front-page image today has a triforce hidden inside.)

If you like stuff that handles the idea of magic in the way it inspires different, more eco-conscious societies, you might want to check out the "Munto" movie for an unusual take on it. Way late in their society,, the magical world suddenly learns that that which fuels their magic (essentially mana to use old RPG terms) is actually a finite resource, and they've been using it willy nilly. The backlash as an end of the world as they know it and cultural repercussions is an interesting thing to see.

*hugs Sailor Pluto*

You can never have enough Sailor Pluto. To be honest though, I don't think she would be that upset, I mean, she jumps back and forth in time so much, she would have known already. She probably knows it gets reinstated at some point. At least Pluto is better than a crappy little rock called the Moon. ^_^

Aww... I missed the concealed triforce!

This munto you speak of, is it this one? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Munto

Oh, yeah, I forgot plutot was this big time god. But doesn't she loose her major connection with time after she dies the first time? (she dies in two different times in the managa and the anime I think. I never really saw the anime.)

Oh it's been so long since I've watched and read it that I don't remember. So I'm not really sure to be honest, hehe. I think every single one of them has technically died once.

Haha. Yeah, I almost did too, until it was mentioned it to me.

Yup, that's it.

Man, I lost track of time. Yesterday was Earth Day? I guess it's fitting then it was the first day I played my druid. Go nature, go!

I'm still upset at Pluto being deemed too small to be a planet. It messes with a lot of ancient mythologies and such. (Sorry Pluto/Hades, I guess this means you can't be a god of the underworld after all!) Sailor Pluto being indignant amuses me. ^_-

It may be old, but it's still funny.

That drawing of Toph is cute. Maybe she should become Earth Day's new mascot. Toph: "Recycle or I WILL MAKE YOU!!" XD

You should see NausicaƤ of the Valley of the Wind It's a good movie which carries that theme a lot. Granted, there isn't a lot of "magic", but it does carry a mystical feeling to it. Plus, Patrick Stewart did some voice acting in it, which is a good bonus in my book. ^_~

Well, hey, Juno was the Queen of the Gods, and all she gets named after her is an asteroid.

As far as magic and mechanics go, I always liked how the Oz books have so many occasions of combining the two.

It's one of the reasons why I love Oz. Tin man is after all, just a magic-powered robot.

Really more of a cyborg, I suppose, only with no human parts remaining. And actually alive, unlike Tik-Tok, who really IS a robot.

The characters in oz would be damn scary if they weren't all so nice!

...which is probably why there's a lot of dark oz stuff going around...

...............which reminds me I need to finish my own oz comics gyah.

You mean like the live scarecrow, the tiger who wants to eat babies, and the guy with a jack o' lantern for a head? {g}
