PCs are just prone to viruses thanks to the idiots of the world who thrive on destroying computers. I've had a few popups lately that were viruses, but since I have the Mac they can't do much more than annoy me as I try to stop them.

(It might be time to try drawing from the tablet straight to the computer, or get some heavy-duty whatever PCs need to combat viruses.)

Gark. THe thing is, I would have switched to my mac a while ago if all my hardware was compatible. But it is not, and i don't feel like buying it all again. ---_---

Things are getting a lot cheaper now than they were in the past. Sooner or later it just has to happen. (I thought I might have to get a new scanner when mine wouldn't work with my laptop, but thankfully all I needed was a new driver.) You're using an older laptop anyway, so chances are good you could find previously owned equipment that'll work just fine for your needs, but also be a heck of a lot cheaper.

What web browser do you use? More viruses are targeted at explorer so its better to use Firefox.

I usually use explorer, which is stupid. I had firefox before and I would go from one to another but since my computer got re-booted I don't have firefox anymore. This virus seems to be somewhat linked to explorer, so I think i'll just delete explorer and install firefox.

Yes, I use Firefox for both my PC and my Mac and I haven't had any issues whatsoever with any attacks.

Firefox is your friend...

Agreed with above. I use firefox because it gives added protection, I hardly use explorer. Also, I did have a couple of viruses, but since I started using AVG (which is a free anti-virus program) I haven't had any problems.

Thanks. I'm thinking of deleting explorer and all my cookies/history (i'm thinking that might get rid of the virus) and installing firefox after downloading it on my labtop and trasferring it with my usb key... that might work.

I don't understand why we don't have capital punishment for the scumbags who write those viruses.
